They are pretty good. The man(chef) is super nice but his wife is a bit more traditionally Asian and stand off-ish. I’ve tried the mango spring rolls(but only because they got my order wrong bc i actually ordered the mango salad) but it was still good. And the pad Thai is awesome! I want to go back and try everything else.

Really sad to see the place has closed as of January 2014. Last I heard the owner was having some medical issues and had traveled to Thailand. I hope he’s okay. I’m going to miss Otto, Gina and their food like crazy :(

I had one of the beef salads and it was great. My companion had BBQ chicken and was very unimpressed. The owner was singularly abrupt in taking our order(to the point of rudeness). His wife quoted us $ 1.50 for rice then the bill said $ 2.50. The place has the ambience of a long bankrupt fast food place. It was freezing and, when asked, they did nothing it was extremely noisy despite the fact we were the only guests — fans, loud air conditioning, extremely loud computer TV. One of the condiment jars had a dried crust on it. All in all, an unpleasant experience. This place won’t get a second chance… There’s too many good Thai restaurants in Reno-Sparks to tolerate such a poor combination of downtroddenness, rude service, questionable cleanness, and uncomfortable surroundings.

So this place is right down the street from my place so my husband and I decided to try it, since Thai is our favorite kind of food. We got there half an hour before closing and it was silent as the grave, but the service was super friendly(definitely above and beyond kind of service). We ordered red curry with chicken and pad kee mao with chicken and shrimp to go. Took it home, opened it up, and the food was totally gross. My curry was extremely watered-down to the point where it was just soup and basically flavorless. My husband’s noodles were undercooked and he said the spices they used tasted kind of off, as if they were really old or something. I’ve said it before, just go to Bangkok Cuisine or Sawasdee, those are the only acceptable places in town for Thai.

Stuffed chicken wings were great as was the rest if the food we had. Service was fast and friendly. Prices were also very good.

I am def a fan of this place. Family owned, they all work together. Food is spicy and come out ridiculously hot from the wok. With massive amounts of flavor. I love that. I love family owned places, hole in walls that dont smell horrible, and clean friendly people. YAY! I also like the little stories about the family and the sucess theyve had throughout the years. Thats always nice too.

This place is not an express type of «fast food» by any means. It’s not like a Panda Express where the food has already been prepared and placed under heat lamps. Everything is fresh and all items are made to order. It’s a small family owned restaurant, the seating area is pretty small. Don’t let the look deceive you, everything that we have ordered so far — satay chicken, curry soup, rice noodle dishes, fried banana ice cream is DELICIOUS!

the service is good. that about the only thing good. but maybe becuase there’s only two tables. stuffed chicken wing is just ok. becuase it’s my all time favorite so I am more critical to this dish. mango roll is horrible. not good. just like a vietnamese spring roll and added 1 – 2 thin string of mango. silver noodle soup is overly salted.

My Thai cravings always get the best of me. I stopped to grab take out with coworkers, and we ordered our standard pad thai, pad see eww, and drunken noodle combo. On our way out the door, we accidentally dropped the pad thai all over the floor. Whoops. Our cashier was so nice that he offered to remake it for us without charge! + 1 star. My pad see eew was not as sweet as I like it to be, and everyone was just indifferent about the food. We’re still Thai Chili fans at heart, but our cashier was just so nice that we’ll be back just for him.

Loved it! The word«express» in their name almost turned me off. It made me think«china express» like in Safeway which was not what I was looking for. But I decided to trust Unilocal and go for it. So glad I did! It’s delicious! We had the vegetarian pad Thai. Lots of flavor and perfect medium spice at my request. Boyfriend was also impressed and he’s a tough critic so that says a lot. The Thai iced tea was a bit on the too sweet side but it didn’t stop me from drinking it. Food was made fresh and restaurant was clean. Friendly service too. Don’t think anyone would be disappointed going there. Tables and chairs only; no booths. Casual atmosphere.

Tasty! The guy running it was super nice and friendly and the food was filling and good as well. Classic Thai food that was so appreciated by us as we were driving back from a road trip in WY.

Sorry, Didn’t care too much for this place. I thought it might be more like a panda express but Thai. It was super hot in there so I decided to take my food to-go. I ordered the chicken with vegetables and mango rolls and both were ok, nothing special. They asked me how spicy I wanted my dish and I said medium and there was no spice to it at all. The mango rolls were ok, just kind of bland and dry. $ 15 for that… no thanks, I will pass next time.

I am a native Nevadan whose parents still live in these parts. Whenever I come to visit, I always like to try out new places that have cropped up since I’ve been gone. Apparently, the owners of this restaurant have practice after having a well-received restaurant in Carson City awhile ago, so I thought this place would be a good one to hit up. In Portland(where I live) there is just about a Thai food place on every block with different results and I’ve grown quite a palate when it comes to how I feel Thai food *should* taste. There are some great places in Reno, for sure, but I’ve never really eaten at a Thai place here that knocked my socks off. This restaurant was really quite good though, and could definitely stand its ground among some of the super fancy Thai places in PDX. The vegetarian spring rolls were great – garlicky, for sure, and the plum sauce had a great tangy flavor. I had the Panang Curry and the folks had the Pad Thai. Both were quite good. The Panang Curry was pretty spicy and because I’m a big wuss, I had to eat it pretty slow. If anything was wrong with it, I’d say they overcooked the veggies, but overall it wasn’t anything that took away from the experience. The décor? Meh. Location? Double meh. But who cares? I just got take out and ate it in front of my parents dogs, torturing them to death. Definitely worth a trip there.

Very good Thai food, some of the best I have had in the U.S. I would be hard pressed to think of better Thai food I have had in Thailand, which I have spent a cumulative total of 3 months. The few times I have been here the Thai customers outnumbered westerners. My ice tea glass was never less than half full and I drink a lot of tea, their black and Thai ice tea are very good. As I implied the service was very good.

Another one of a string of good Thai restaurants in Reno. It seems just about every Thai restaurant in Reno has good food. This is operated by the family who operated Thai Spice Kitchen in Carson City for several years. The owner described it as having more central Thailand style food. For my meal there I got Pad kee mao noodles and stuffed chicken wings. I liked both. The chicken wings had good flavor and plenty of noodles. I got the Pad kee mao medium hot. It was good but I could have tolerated a little more heat. The noodles and most of the other items were excellent. It was served on a bed of iceberg lettuce and I didn’t like that. The flavors didn’t seem to mesh well. They have lots of the menu here I don’t see at other Thai restaurants. This place is near Gentry Lane and for a long time this was a Filipino restaurant. It’s interesting that the Filipino restaurant would close and we would get another Thai restaurant. The 2010 U.S. Census counts almost 13,000 people who consider themselves all or partially Filipino in Washoe County. For Thai, the number is less than 600. Yet there are a half dozen or so Thai restaurants in the area.

Craving Thai so badly and saw that this former filipino restaurant on the way to work was now Thai food. Yay! Interior was decorated up with the usual portrait of the King and Queen and other little touches to try and cozy up the space, but it still looked mostly like the former space with linoleum flooring, cheap seating, and garishly bright standing cooler for drinks and produce. It was empty except for a few employees/family members enjoying a soup lunch. I’ve never had Thai noodle soup and it looked pretty good and spicy phở like so I’m going to have to come back for that sometime. I ordered Pud Thai with shrimp($ 9.95) and and order of the spicy chili chicken wings appetizer($ 7.95). The Pudthai was not the bright reddish(ketchup based usually) kind, but more fish sauce based light brown. It was delicious, tangy and savory with lots of eggs and tofu bits. The only odd thing was they served it with a slice of lemon and a slice of orange. I might ask for more fresh veggies next time because I like the crunch of cabbage and sprouts in my noodles. The chicken wings were really great. Deep fried but still juicy and very meaty wings(about 8) glazed in a rich reddish brown sweet hot chili glaze and mounded generously with crispy fried basil. The thin basil leaves sort of shatter in your mouth and taste great with the sauce. These wings were very good, even better imo later when they were cold. I really liked that they cut a hole in the top of the takeout box so they would stay crispy and not get steamed soggy on my drive to work. Overall I had enough food for 3 meals and both the noodles and wings tasted good as leftovers. I’ll be back for takeout and to try the noodle soups.

Pad See-Ew was excellent, Iced Thai coffee available here as well. Greeted warmly upon entrance. Dine in, take out, and delivery.
