The price can be a little high, depending on what you’re ordering, but the food and drinks are always good and unique. The shishito peppers are the !

Awesome artisan food! And excellent spirits made right on site! The high country gin is worth every penny. Even the staff is top notch! The hostess went out of her way to find me a bottle of the gin. Ty, very much!

I would say to start that to open such an amazing place on New Years Eve shows an degree of confidence that is displayed in every element of how well these guys do every day. I’ve been here dozens and dozens of times now for everything from brunch to happy hour to dinner and they just get it right all the time. First of all, amazing job to Justin and Chris for pulling off the perfect aesthetics. There is a perfect play on lighting through the beautiful arched windows on the hardwood, subway tile, exposed brick, and french tile floors. A perfectly energetic vibe exists regardless of the number of bodies in the room. The staff are all great and everyone is always wonderful to see. Brandon and team have already created award winning whiskey and the beers are amazing. Combine that with some amazing bartenders and the best craft cocktails in town and you have a winning recipe. As a former Concierge at some pretty high profile properties, the worst thing you can ever do with a guest is sending them to a restaurant without the right expectations. The Depot is a very easy place to brag about because it just works. Great food, great drinks, fun vibe, cool staff. Reno is fortunate you guys made this place happen and it is definitely one of my favorites.

Food is rediculously good. Had the Brussel sprouts and the artichoke dip for appetizer. Tri tip dinner with cheesy potatoes was amazing. Will definitely be back next time we visit Reno

Thank Goodness we had a great bartender(Jaimee) instead of the guy with the crazy greasy mustache, smacking his gum all over the bar, our drinks and food. He ALMOST ruined this place for us last visit but we decided to give it another shot. Glad we did. The drinks are better than the food that we have tried(pork belly tacos– used to love but they have changed) their cocktails are fun and several contain their special distilled spirits. My review reflects that. :) Awesome building. Fun loot to purchase with their brand that I personally love. Go– hopefully you have Jaimee at the bar :-)

Nope, I will never return. Id rather have a frozen meal from the freezer section of a grocery store. Just because the romaine is fresh in a Cesar salad doesn’t mean the salad is good. Your ketchup was better than the food, that’s sad. Our server was great, no complaints there. I’m pretty forgiving for variations of recipes, but this was bad and I’m not sorry for the review.

I wasn’t sure what to expect because the neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but the inside really nice. The interior is clean, modern yet vintage and really cool. We sat at the bar and had the pretzel app to start. It was drizzled with butter, chewy, warm and delicious. I could have eaten 2 more. I got the cheeseburger for dinner with a side salad. The burger had a fantastic grilled/char flavor that was just what I needed. The green salad was fresh and really good. Since I was driving through town I didn’t get a chance to sample any beers. Maybe on the next stop.

What an awesome reanimation of an old train depot! I don’t think I’ve been to a place that distills its own spirits and brews it own beer(in the same building I think). I came here after having an awesome dinner at Heritage down the road just to meet with some friends and have a tasty flight of beer. I enjoyed the wooden atmosphere and the excellent service. My favorite beer was The Voyager – an IPA with good flavor, bite, and it wasn’t too heavy. You can’t go wrong with an $ 8 flight of beer if you can’t decide on what you want. I didn’t get to try any of the food but it looked delicious so I’ll definitely be back. Anyone who is a beer-lover needs to visit this gem in Reno!

I absolutely love the idea behind The Depot: a local historic site, renovated to resemble what it used to be, and a friendly dining space that offers local food, brews, and spirits. With all menu items coming from local places, either made in-house or from very near-by, you know that what you’re eating is fresh and of pretty high quality. However, be prepared to pay a few dollars more per plate than you would normally expect. The wall in one of their dining room areas has a map of the train station/depot area so you can see what Reno used to be like *back in the day*. There is dining space in addition to a bar and patio seating. If the weather is nice, step outside and enjoy some corn hole. I’ve been to The Depot three times now. The first two times I got a burger and was absolutely disappointed. On my first visit: I ordered the classic burger medium-well: it came very, very well done. On my second visit: I ordered the classic burger medium-rare: it came well done. During the first, The Depot was really busy so they get the benefit of the doubt, but on the second visit: no excuse. I found that the meat was also pretty bland and flavor-less, and overall the burger was not exciting. On my third visit, The Depot really came through for me: Stuffed Poblano Peppers! I gave up on trying to get a good burger here and explored the menu a little more and I wasn’t disappointed. The stuffed poblanos were absolutely delicious and I think it will be my go-to item when I visit again. Some other food things that I absolutely love: poutine, sweet potato fries, french fries, and their ketchup! If you have never tried poutine before, this is a great place to do so. Their fries that come with the burger and a few other menu items are absolutely delicious. Oh, and their ketchup? I hate ketchup. But The Depot makes their own condiments! I must say, their ketchup is an absolute work of art.

This was my first stop when I arrived in Reno. The parking lot was in the back, it was a little sketchy and there wasn’t a lot of parking. It was a friday night, so it was pretty packed. But there is a lot of bar seating and we were able to find seats on the second floor. It’s pretty awesome that they were able to turn an old train station into a restaurant! We sat down and the waiter came within a couple of minutes. We started with some cocktails, I got the spring awakening and my friend got the golden something(i don’t quite remember). The spring awakening was sweet and really yummy. The golden something was a little stronger and i wasn’t a fan. The menu is pretty large, so it took us a little while to look at everything. But we ended up sticking with the appetizers. We got the artichoke and kale dip, poutine and the macncheese bites. It was all really delicious! If I am back in the area, I would definitely come by to try more food. The pricing was a little higher than what I would normally pay, but it was worth it!

A five star establishment is one that is always on the tip of one’s tongue when people suggest going out. I know no matter what that my experience at Depot is going to be great. Whether it’s just drinks for two, or a fancyish but not frou frou lunch or dinner, or a happy hour get-together with twenty colleagues, or a place to take job candidates that is not too noisy so that one can actually have good conversation, Depot is the place to go. It’s also really conveniently located near but not in downtown. The architecture inside and out is absolutely beautiful. If you’re a dude, you have to check out the awesome old timey bank safe door in the men’s restroom! The food here is excellent. The right portion sizes, the right plating. The menu is varied but not too large. Vegetarians have things to eat here that are more exciting than the vegetarian options at most meat-luvin places. As a meat lover, I usually go for a burger or for fish and chips or for the steak frites. Their cocktails are super pretty and yummy, but I like hydration so I usually go for beer for the volume. The beer sampler is the best and so aesthetically served. They have lots of specialty brews that they rotate into the regular lineup. And they always serve beer styles in the proper glassware! My colleagues and I often come here with job candidates because it shows off so well how funky and fun and surprisingly classy Reno can be. Yay Depot!

I have been to this marvelous local food-haven three times now. Once with my wife who loved it & once with my 3yr old who loved it. And they sure do have different tastes in food, if the Depot has both of them covered, then you’ll find something to love, too. The fish and chips are my favorite here in Reno, and I have even directed visitors from out of town(my father) here for the fish and chips. Their review is here : -=- I recently attended a Unilocal Sponsored event at the Depot, where I had a chance to try the _amazing_burgers and fries that this place offers, and I can now heartily recommend the Depot Burger to any omnivore or carnivore.

Five stars for the @thedepotreno’s best damn rotisserie chicken, fantastic fries, and the most delicious housemade mustard in town. Five stars for a badass bar program with creatively crafted cocktails, award winning spirits, and craft beers. Five stars for stellar ambiance, décor, and atmosphere that can only come from a rad restoration of a historic building done with incredible regard for the space. Four and a half stars for some service that had been a bit consistent over the course of 5 – 6 visits. Five stars for being big group rock stars. And Five more stars for being awesome about feedback and constantly striving to improve. First up, the five star chicken. This dish has been on the menu in a variety of forms, from chicken lightly coated in a sweet and savory glaze of honey and mustard served over a massive mound of fresh cut fries, to the same perfectly rotisserated chicken topped with another sauce that featured kale and served with seasonal mashed veg, and each time it has been magnificent. Half a chicken with crispy skin, tender, juicy, and oh so succulent. The sides have always been great too. I’ve been criticized for ordering such«simple food», but hey, when it’s perfect, why argue? Now the fries? What a value. Order up an app of these, either white or sweet potato, and you’re in for more than you bargained for because these plates are behemoth. It’s perfect though, because they’re ideal for sharing. The PRO-TIP here is that you need to ask for a side of their house mustard. It’s a little sweet and a little spicy, and delightfully creamy and smooth, making the perfect foil to either fry choice. When it comes to beverages, you really cannot go wrong. There’s a wide array of cocktails based in a number of spirits, many of which are made in their distillery, meaning there’s something for everyone. Worst case scenario, they have a full bar so you can really get whatever you want. Their beers are well loved locally too! The service though, has just been all across the board. I’ve had fantastic experiences where servers were on top of absolutely everything for a very large party from delivering food, refilling drinks, and right down to getting the checks exactly right. Then again I’ve been in and experienced the complete opposite with a smaller group. All in all though, this place ranks way up there on my list of favorite places to dine. All that said, this is the kind of great local business that really works hard to improve and make sure they’re the best. I’ve always been able to look past issues and continue to be a frequent patron and constant supporter. They’re doing great things here and they deserve to be celebrated. If you haven’t been in yet, what the hell are you waiting for? I’m heading back soon to try the new release of their rye whiskey. I can’t wait!

Was in Reno for work and loved this place so much I had to have it again before I left. The beer is great. The Voyager is an incredible IPA. I highly recommend it. They have some different styles and the bartenders are extremely helpful. They will also let you sample a beer if you want to try it before ordering one. The food is tremendous. I had the classic burger the first time with a salad. Both were very good. The second time I went I had the tri tip which was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere of The Depot is also awesome. They did a great job making it feel both retro and new.

The Depot building is a beautiful restored building, with classic timeless colors. Just the image that«The Depot» brings to mind is trains and terminals tiles and hard surfaces. An era that has past… but is remembered fondly… or looked back on jealously by the current generation, wishing they could capture some of that charisma and style. It seems, to me at least, that The Depot has done just that, they have captured it so well in the restoration of this old and glorious building. It’s steep staircases and it’s melding of brick, tile and wood surfaces is at once comfortable yet still elevated. To date… I don’t think any business opening in Reno has been so explosive. Sure… some businesses opened and garnered word of mouth and have built up quite a loyal following. But the Depot is a different story. The Depot is immediately reshaped the restaurant landscape in Reno. They have it all under one roof, and that roof can hold lots of people. The food they serve is nearly as awesome as the building. Particular favorites of mine are the Kale Artichoke Dip and the Brussel Sprouts. My wife(Ly S.) loves the Depot Burger. I love it too, I just never can get around to ordering it because there is always something else I want to order from the menu as it changes just enough to keep me coming back for something new and different. The cocktail menu is loaded with creative cocktails that are regularly updated and not left to grow stale. And lest you forget, this is a distillery with many different kinds of alcohols made on site. The selection of house made brews is pretty impressive. Admittedly, I just started my beer kick, so I can only current vouch for the cocktails. The is one area that I look forward to trying more, especially considering they have $ 2 off almost every drink during happy hour. The service here has been good to great. Sure they may have misstepped here or there, but the overall sense I get from this place and the people in charge is, they care. They care much more than most of the places in town. And that, I respect. Too many times successful businesses like this just ease off the throttle and coast on their laurels, but here it seems different. Travel Tip — This is a Reno Must Do

Came with a larger party of 5 on a quiet Sunday brunch morning. First off, the building is amazing! I’m truly in love with it, we sat on the second floor with all the bright windows empitamising the openness. It’s a perfect mix of modern(gray everywhere, my favorite home décor color), with older style of subway tiled bars and hexagonal tile floors. Yes, I had to spend time and Google the history more while we were waiting. I only wish I could have experienced it in its heyday. Not sure who our server was, but she was great. We stayed for a while as we ended up staggering drink orders(a beer to start, then a whiskey, the one bloody Mary, then another etc). She let us take our time and catch up too, not hurrying us or being annoyed. Between us all we had duck sliders, macaroni and cheese, traditonal burger, the German and the pork belly tacos. My impression was everyone enjoyed their food. The burger disappeared, we made our friend make the Wendy’s «$ 2.99» joke with the sliders, the German had great flavor and the macaroni and cheese was ooey and gooey with real Bacon crumbles on top. The ketchup is house made and delcious. The tacos were good just cory was expecting soft tacos not fried, but he survived. He already said he is getting the depot burger next time. I have been craving some crème brûlée which they didn’t have in their dedicated and fancy sounding dessert list, but they did have a crème de pot(so custard) with house whipped cream and some sort of black sprinkles I missed the name of. Whatever they were, this was a perfect ending to my meal and I wouldn’t hesitate to order it again. The bloody Mary’s were excellent, also house mixture. But the happy hour looks to be a good deal, about $ 2 off drinks and apps it looked like. I think while they have spendier items, they also have a good deal with cheaper options that aren’t just olives or fries like you see elsewhere in town. I had been putting off visiting thinking it would be pretentious and break the bank, and while between us all we splurged for this meal, you come back and not spend much while still getting a lot of quality food. Also they have the bean board games(the name is completely escaping me right now) out front that we all had fun with too. Ideal for killing time if waiting per chance? As well also a huge luxury couch with games upstairs too.

Ok, I’m ashamed it’s taken me so long to come back and update. After my last review, Justin reached out to address my concerns. He took feedback on areas that he found to need improvement but stuck to his guns on things he believes are correct(we’ll never agree on the ketchup haha). Since the original review I’ve been back on 2 different occasions, both for lunch. While we were there to discuss business, my guests couldn’t believe the unique atmosphere that is The Depot. Simply being there elevated the tone of the entire meeting. As for the meal: delicious! Not one complaint. From the fish and chips, to the Reuben and everything in between: wow. I’m planning on coming back to The Depot with any future business lunch. The service is always excellent as well. Makes the entire experience a great one.

Went here for their happy hour last week; I fell in love with the atmosphere. The Depot has a great selection of brews to choose from at a good cost. You can sample 4 draft beers for $ 8. I think my favorite beer I tried was the The Viking. I’m Norwegian though, so I might be biased. ;) We ordered their friend mac & cheese bites, poutine fries with oxtail gravy, and their cornbread fritters. The fries were probably my favorite out of the other two appetizers but everything was delicious! Their staff is very friendly, the environment is clean and maintained, the only thing I didn’t care for was the chairs… they aren’t very comfortable(I have a bony butt).
