The price is expensive but not a lot of choices. I came here first time but not in interest to come back again. Price is so much competitive now and online choices is quite extensive. You can come here if you can ask for some samples and support local business.

Lovely teas. And you can buy as little as a ¼ pound. Makes it nice if you like to taste many varieties. Owner very knowledgeable and helpful.

The Laughing C A T is very local — I have been buying coffees and teas(C A T) with them for at least three decades. The coffee roasting and blending is on-site in the warehouse part with a retail store up front, so expect to look for it out of the hipper places in town. Mark has a great selection of coffees, always some standards and often very new and really unique styles as the market changes. The tea selection is seriously world class. Maybe over half of his business is repeat orders from all over North America from very satisfied customers. There are no overstuffed chairs, no pretentiousness, no espresso machine that I have seen and no bitter or «burnt» coffee. Just a great selection of coffees and teas at a fair price from a super long time, local, small business with great customer service and a very loyal fan base. Try it and you should be one also.

I’m glad I flipped a U-turn and went here, finally. After a couple of years driving by and wanting to check this place out, New Years Eve 2015 was that day. I should give 4 stars for the owner not acknowledging that I walked in until after 10 minutes of standing there looking around. I guess you could say he gets so into talking to his customers and teaching them about coffee and tea, that he didn’t realize I was there??? The 5 stars goes to his coffee, I was amazed by the smell when I walked in. Typically I go for medium roast coffees(because of the higher caffeine content), so we narrowed the options down to only medium roast blends. Since I wanted to try new coffees after getting grossed out by grocery store, dry, bland coffee, we chose to get a few. Mark and I decided on the Ethiopian, the Brazilian, and one of his most popular blends, the Highlander Grogg. Out of those I would have to say the Ethiopian is my favorite. I’ve been grinding the Highlander Grogg myself and brewing a pour over cup, it smells like waffles and maple syrup, but it’s not a flavored coffee — it’s amazing. All in all, I will definitely be going back for more coffee on a monthly basis. After brewing these I am very spoiled and Starbucks just doesn’t come close.

My parents ran out of coffee & my mom has been getting her coffee here for the past few mos. She wanted to try new coffees to find a good one(they have been in a coffee rut lately). She found this place and instantly fell in love w/the owner & his sis & has been very adamant on only coming here. So I drove like a crazy person to get here before they closed(I got stuck in traffic & had 5min to get here, I was more than 5min away) I made it at exactly 5p(closing time) they were still open! Sis told me to call next time & they would stay open for me if it wasn’t super long after closing. Ridiculously nice. Now I’m in love w/these people!

A really outstanding roaster… Try the house blend! They are both friendly and knowledgable… I learn something new about coffee every time I go.

This place has the best whole bean coffee in town. Mark knows coffee inside and out and will happily educate new customers on all things coffee. It’s locally owned, the staff is always friendly, their coffee is excellent, and their prices are very reasonable! I’ve been a happy customer for 2 years now.

Been coming here for seven years because Mark is an excellent roaster and procurer of high-quality beans. I’ve tried a lot of beans from all over, and these are consistently the best: perfectly roasted and flavorful without being overwhelming. My favorites are the Black Cat and the Monsooned Malabar. Bonus: if you call ahead, they’ll prep your order and have it ready to go. I dread the day Mark retires.

«You have to try this blueberry coffee!!» I sat and stared at my coworker for several minutes before asking«blueberry coffee? There is no such thing as good blueberry coffee.» I have never been so glad to be proved wrong in my life! Just the smell of their coffee makes me happier and the taste matches the smell. There are numerous delicious flavors and they all run the risk of making you a coffee addict. Great place for a nice gift or something really special for the coffee snob in your life!

I found The Laughing C.A.T years ago when I was searching for organic whole bean coffee in Reno. At the time no one else was roasting a quality product. I remain a loyal customer. The quality is excellent and the prices reasonable. Mark Fleming is a master roaster and is dedicated to a quality product. His sister, Alison, is the tea expert and offers unique delicious blends. Both Mark and Alison infuse their shop and their products with consciousness and care. Drop in for the brew, stay for the conversation!

When I was a Reno resident, I found Laughing Cat in it’s previous location … years ago, and I followed Mark to where he is now. I always enjoyed stopping in, and the personal service is great. Now that I’m in NJ, I still mail order Black Cat Coffee … best coffee on the planet, I think, and the service is fast, efficient and still personal. Don’t know how he’s done it all these years, but kudos, Mark!

Nice place! Too bad it’s hidden in such a low traffic area. Really good selection of high quality teas. The prices may seem high, but the quality is there. The prices match the internet pricing. You just save on shipping. I got following teas: 1. Very Berry — Really tasty and aromatic. Would be great in the middle of winter! 2. Pink Lemon Zest — So citrusy, but not sour. Love it! 3. Tropical Green — Smells great, but I didn’t get to this one yet. The store has a lot of coffee too. I did not buy any though. Next time. The place is manned by Steve — very friendly guy. You can easily spend 30 min just chatting. If you want to try tea before you splurge, you can have a cup and try it out(not sure how much it costs). The store has some unusual opening hours: Tue-Fri till 5pm, and Sat 10−3pm. The only minus is, you need to spend at least 20USD before you can use your credit card. Also having a website would be nice. Those are small things though. Overall, I think I will be a regular Thank you!

I will travel all the way from Sparks to South Reno to buy coffee from Laughing CAT. While there you can also have any kind of authentic coffee drink you can think of, but it doesn’t look like a coffee shop since it is in an industrial building. The folks are very nice and love to chat, so for excellent brew, stop by.

The C.A.T.(coffee & tea) has been a Reno institution for 19 years. Mark, owner and roaster & originally from the bay area, brings a decidedly San Francisco style of roasting to Reno long before the chains arrived. He roasts daily and has over 20 different varieties and roasts from around the world including decaf and flavored. He also has over 25 specialty teas, that he and his sister have personally selected. Mark and his sister Alison, share their extensive knowledge of close to 20 years with the customer. Their shop includes a full spectrum of specialty drinks and provides a couple of tables to enjoy them. Mark is the local distributor for Davinci syrups. His prices are low when compared to the chains, most coffee’s sell for $ 10.50 a pound(a bargain). As a small business, Mark has a minimum of $ 20 on the use of credit cards and ATM cards but accepts checks.
