Love seeing shows here. It is not the normal theatre type seating, it is a Black Box theatre with seats on three sides. What you get is a very intimate performance with the actors literally on top of you, acting and singing. Tmcc makes the most of the room they have with actors running in and out of the entrance doors. The set s are always fabulous as well as the costumes. If you are a person like me that cannot afford broadway shows at the pioneer, give this theatre a chance, it is very affordable and they will not disappoint

Redfield Performing Arts Center(also known as TMCC Performing Arts Center) is a destination you’d never find if you weren’t looking for it. It’s located next to Save Mart in Keystone Square, and while there is some signage out front, its neutral colors don’t pop and you could easily pass right by it. It doesn’t look like much from the outside(or even the interior of the lobby for that matter), but when you step into the actual theatre itself, it’s a pretty big space. It’s the biggest community theatre performance space outside of UNR and can accommodate nearly 200 patrons. While TMCC produces both straight plays and children’s shows, they are really known for their musicals. For about a decade now, there has been a strong talent pool here that has really taken TMCC’s musical theatre program to the next level. I think it’s unfair to compare ANY local/community/educational theatre production to professional productions that have a MASSIVE budget(comparatively speaking) and an even more massive talent pool from which to cast their productions. From the epically challenging Sweeney Todd to last season’s frothy Spamalot, to this season’s even frothier production of The Producers, TMCC theatre cranks out consistently solid, entertaining, well-sung shows at Redfield Performing Arts Center. The $ 15 cost of your ticket is money well-spent on a unique, affordable experience!

A little known gem in Reno. The educators here always strive to deliver magical theatre that inspires their students. There are wonderful things that happen here. Some favorite shows of mine are: BATBOY: THEMUSICAL, BEYONDTHERAPY, CABARET, THEROCKYHORRORSHOW, and A YEARWITHFROG&TOAD.

We recently attended their production of «Monty Python’s Spamalot». This was the first time that we have been to a show from TMCC department of Visual and Performing Arts. We are glad that we went. It was a totally enjoyable and well done production of one of our favorite musicals. The Nell J. Redfield Performing Arts Center is located in a strip mall on Keystone Avenue just south of the I-80 interchange. There is very ample parking in the lot. The modest storefront entrance belies the large performance space available inside. The space is not fancy, but the arena seating is comfortable and all the action on the stage is easily visible from all seats. This production was not of professional quality, but was well done by college/community theater standards. Sets and costumes were well designed. Lighting and sound were all well executed. The mostly young cast were all enthusiastic and performed their parts well in true Python satyric fashion. The accents were not terribly accurate, but the spirit of silly British humor was evident. The voices were for the most part strong and the songs well sung. Out standing was Echo Running Wolf in full diva mode as Lady of the Lake. Tickets are easy to purchase on line and prices are reasonable($ 15 general/$ 13 Senior & Student). Seating is open so if you have a preferred spot, come early. We are looking forward to attending future productions here.
