A little(a lot) behind on this one! Chapel is up there with one of my favorite bars, so it was kind of a no brainer to stop in for happy hour after work. We had a small group, actually a lot smaller than I expected. But still plenty of conversation to be had. The bar itself was pretty dead too — surprising for a midtown bar at happy hour. But I guess quicker service for us! They still were prominently displaying their Spring cocktail menu, which is weird because it was late Summer. I ordered their gin & tonic first — kind of meh and then a big hit of sweetness at the end since the honey all settled to the bottom. The drink I had next was much better, although I can’t tell you what that is since their website has been updated with their current menu… Anyway, I was super bummed that I missed Esteban on Skype by mere seconds. But at least we got our token picture with his cutout!

Sept. 17, 2015 Thursday — 5PM for a drink Bunch of Unilocalers and friends Atmosphere — 5stars Food — 4 stars Service — 4 stars Background — It is always fun hanging with the Unilocal group. Donna and Esteban picked a cocktail bar to meet up at. How can you say no to that? Atmosphere — The wood and metal makes for a Food Drinks — When you look at the wonderful wall of liquor you figure that is all you will get here. Nope! I was actually impressed by their menu for beers. I had a classic German beer from the Hofbräuhaus. The happy hour price for beer seemed a little high at $ 7 for a pint. Food — None here. Service — If you are going to put your beer menu online keep it up to date so I do not get a confused bartender when I order something you do not have. Once the bartender explained it and showed me the menu I was on my way to getting some good beer. Future –Yes looking for to the next HHUYE.

Thanks to everyone who made it tonight– especially Esteban!!! See what or who you missed. Esteban spent a little more than an hour with us on Skype tonight. It was so nice to get a chance to catch up with him and what he’s been doing. We even got a quick tour of the new living space. Chapel is always a great drink spot, and Esteban commented on how much he misses it. Sean took great care of our small group tonight. We had a great spot to ourselves just to hangout. Fabulous to see a couple of newbies join us– Renee and Jon. Hope to see you more often. As always it’s a fun time to catch up with other Unilocalers at a more relaxed atmosphere. And wonderful to see Esteban again. If it works out again, everyone who come to Lake Tahoe in a couple of weeks will get a chance to hi to him there.

Five stars! Esteban was in attendance! Sort of, through the miracles of modern technology. Esteban was able to join us fir the first part of our festivities. He also took us on a tour of his apartment in Costa Rico. Donna has already stacked out the spots for slerpon bags when a future Unilocal UYE takes place south of the border. Nice event. The bartender at Chapel kept us plyed in drinks. I was sipping on the Chapel Taven twist on a gin an tonic. Delicious and refreshing and sublty sweet and tart. This is my first time at Chapel. A great space with many options for grouping and sitting and sippong with groups large and small. Thanks to Donna for puttng this together. I am sorry their were not more participants. The group that did come were treated to an enjoyable, congenial group of both old and new Unilocalers. Looking forward to the gatheting in October at Lake Tahoe.
