The servers here are so cute haha, super friendly and always remember you! Crazy amount of options at great prices. I was pretty basic and didn’t try anything adventurous because I don’t eat fish really, but the basic things I got were great! Presented really nicely, everything was gorgg. Cool cocktails on the menu, too!

My dinner party of three ordered the sushi party platter… it was more veggie rolls than actual ones with fish. The rice was not sushi rice, but regular Chinese take out restaurant rice. Yes, there is a major difference. Another thing, the rice was not even seasoned with rice wine vinegar. Sorry to say, this imposter sushi platter was a major disappointment. We also ordered sashimi… another round of disappointment. The fish, regardless of tuna or salmon or white tuna or yellow trail, all tasted the same, which was tasteless. How did they manage to remove the taste from raw fish? Easy, soak them in resurrection brine! Then serve it the next day, next week, whenever! We didn’t try the cooked entrees so we can’t completely fail them. However, get your act together, sushi chefs, that stuff you served us was sub par.

Being from the city we have access to so many amazing sushi places so was not expecting this small town to have such a great sushi place, it was clean, quiet and amazingly fresh compared to most in the area. Will be back again when we visit

My fiancé and I are really big sushi people. When we moved up here we knew we needed to figure out the good sushi spots. Since this place was right down the road we were crossing our fingers that it was to bed delicious and it was, it is. We have been here a few times and will come back many more times. Their miso soup, garden salad and sushi are definitely great! Their service is awesome too! They are always very welcoming. We were there once when it was packed with people and no room, that was around 7pm when we were leaving. I believe a packed place proves how amazing it is. I would recommend this place for sure.

I order lunch from here all the time. Though I mostly order the California roll their cucumber roll is also amazing. You can’t go wrong ordering their Edmame either. Lunch specials come with miso soup and a salad. So good.

My wife(born in Tokyo) and I thoroughly enjoyed Nishiki Sushi. House hot sake was amazingly good at a low price. Miso was from a mix, but wasn’t overly salty. Nice serving of wakame flavored well and ice cold — yum! I had a good serving of negimaki with tender beef and scallions topped with a tasty BBQ-like sauce. Hamachi sushi was a «melt-in-your-mouth» experience. My wife asked for, and received, a «special» meal of lightly sautéed Chilean Sea Bass with steamed veggies. She loved it – well prepared. With their wonderful service, we enjoyed Nishki Sushi immensely!

I’ve had great experience every time I have eaten here. The owners are friendly, the food is tasty and fresh, and the pricing is fair. It’s nice to have a dedicated Japanese food only restaurant in the East Greenbush area. I have enjoyed their sushi as well as their other offerings of teriyaki, tempera dishes and the udon noodles.

It’s not the sushi that was bad. The actual sushi rolls were pretty good. The shumi were terrible — tasted like gefilta fish — and the vegetable tempura was nothing special. If you are smart, stick to the sushi. I don’t know what the other reviewer was talking about — there were no hot towels! But the server was very friendly. For a strip mall in Rensselear, NY, the sushi was good.

My husband and I like to tour the Cap. Region’s sushi places when we’re out and about. Last night we picked Nishiki and it didn’t disappoint. Your usualy small quiet sushi restaurant(on a Sunday night). I had my standard three roll order(cucumber, Alaska, and Spicy Kani) and my husband had his standard«pick a couple of rolls I’ve never tried and go to town» plus his favorite eel avocado. He had the Nishiki roll and thoroughly enjoyed it, as well as the spicy crunchy scallop and really enjoyed both. My rolls were nothing fancy, but hit the spot and tasted great. Service was quick and the prices were good. If/when we find ourselves in Rensselaer again(which we will if we move out there), I will definitely be going back to Nishiki.

The sushi is top flight. Prices are reasonable too. I love the Super Volcano Roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll. This place is a real gem.

The service here has been consistently good and fast. When we come in it isn’t very full. It’s always nice to have a place to yourself. The ambiance is very nice especially when comparing it to double dragon right next door. I really appreciate them putting a nice Chinese restaurant in this part of town. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice meal either just passing through or for anyone who wants to sit down and eat.

FINALLY! A decent sushi restaurant in Rensselaer County! It brings tears to my eyes! The wasteland that is East Greenbush dining(sorry, Chez Mikes; you guys are great too) finally gets a sushi oasis. I’m a happy man! This place is very good. The Sushi Bento box is chock full, and hearty. The special rolls are interesting. The décor and service are excellent. And my wife, who does not eat sushi, can find various vegetarian«sushi» rolls on the menu that make her happy. So I’m happy. Honestly, Nishiki is not the greatest sushi I’ve had, but it is very good; a solid 4 stars.

Go here for lunch at least 3 time a week. Food is consistent and service is fast. Usually get it to go, but eat in on occasion.

I like going here to have dinner. First off the hot towels they give you to clean your hands remind of of the first class or business class on an airplane. I love the fact that the hostess and our server all know us and when my wife ordered the wrong thing she was corrected… the waitress said don’t you mean chicken tempura(for the kids)… that was a nice save/catch on her part. Today I had the California roll and Sweet Potato Roll, while my wife had the Spicy Tuna, excellent… I had that the last time. We love eating at Nishiki Sushi… We’ll be back soon.

This is the sort of restaurant that warms my soul. It is authentic, house-made with care, and served graciously with attention. Not what one would expect in a Rensselaer strip mall, but I was nearby in the late afternoon and went in for a late lunch/early dinner, in large part encouraged by fellow Unilocalers. The interior is pleasant enough and very clean. It seems the hostess/waitress is an owner and was very gracious. I had miso soup, gyoza and sushi. The miso soup and gyozo were excellent, flavorful and served hot. The sushi was so-so. Not bad, not great, somewhat poorly cut and not the best quality. I didn’t get sick(I was wondering as I both ordered and ate since I was, after all, at a Rensselaer strip mall on a Monday). I will happily return when in the area. I think it’s unfortunate that much of their business is take-out. It diminishes the respect and quality for the preparation. Would you order high-quality French to go(if they would let you!) and eat ½ hour later? It would not do the food justice. Same here, I believe. I encourage people to go and sit there to eat. I will again. Maybe I’ll see you there!

A few months I gave you all a tip on a new place in E. Greenbush. I wanted to update my recommendation and make some suggestions. –Be open minded, try everything. –Drink Saki, then drink some more Saki — ask for recommendations from the staff when ordering. — learn the difference between sushi, sashimi, Nigiri — learn to use chopsticks –go with a pro I mentioned that I would be a regular, well I am now part of the chop stick club, like a mug club in bars. A Regular indeed. The dumplings, the back pepper tuna and oysters are a great starter. Try a roll, get the the roll of the day, or just say«surprise me». You will love what will show up on your plate. For me it’s a home away from home. Friendly and attentive staff that loves to engage in conversation. So clean, that you could eat off the tables, and reasonable prices for the high quality you are served. Make sure you introduce yourself and bring friends. Count me as a loyal diner.

Time has improved a very good sushi bar/restaurant. The teriyaki beef was excellent. Sushi is generous quantity and amounts of fish in and on rice. The prices are a bargain compared with the other big two. Service has become more relaxed and more helpful. A good combination. The sushi/sashimi lunch and dinner combinations are a bargain. $ 13⁄23. In all, my second favorite Japanese restaurant in the Capitol Region.

I work very close to the establishment so I was very intrigued seeing it pop up! I can say that I was so very pleasantly surprised by how awesome and delicious everything was! I am vegetarian so I can’t vouch for anything meat/seafood related. I ordered the avocado cucumber and sweet potato roll along with some soup. The portions are huge and everything was really fresh! The price is right… food is awesome. I don’t think you’ll regret checking this place out.
