A&W

Food is fine, but the place is appallingly filthy. Bathrooms look like the haven’t been cleaned in months, front counter and every table is shiny with grease, food remnants and trash all over the floor in both the dining room and kitchen.
Makes me wonder if I should expect to get sick this evening…

First time trying A&W. I wasn’t super hungry, so I ordered the small cheese burger. It was alright. The bun seemed extra thick compared to what I am used to. I would give the burger a 3.5÷5 stars. I ordered a side of cheese curds. It was okay, but was filled with 50% small pieces and two large chunks of cheese. I don’t think this is what I was supposed to get, but I was just about their last customer for the night. Their ice cream/​float machine was out of order, so I ordered a regular size Sierra Mist. I finished the drink in about 10 minutes because the cup was ¾ filled with ice. I won’t be ordering a soda from them anymore.
I went back a week later to try their root beer float. It is made with soft serve vanilla ice cream, but it hit the spot. I mentioned to the cashier that the last time I was here, they gave me too much ice with my soda. Her excuse was «they push a button and that’s the amount of ice it gives.» Hmmm…(too dumb to dump half the ice out of the cup before filling it with soda?) my expectations of these fast food workers is not very high. They don’t deserve $ 15/​hr.

Cheese lovers beware!
My only memory of this place is ordering their chili cheese fries 5 years ago and still haunted by the memory of it… If you are interested in eating cheese with a side of fries and smudge of chili, then this is the place for you. I would call myself a moderate fan of cheese whiz sauce. I enjoy melted cheese with my soft pretzels and on nachos every now and then but the chili cheese dog was inedible due to the ratio of cheez whiz sauce to chili being so disproportionate. I could barely taste the hot dog and chili itself and only was able to take a couple bites.
Their A&W burgers here aren’t bad though. Can’t say I have tried a lot on their menu besides the burger, cheese fries, and chili dog (not bad either) but I would not order another chili cheese fries. The interior is very reminiscent of the 50/60’s era with red booths, each with a mini juke box on the table so you can select a song to play over the speakers.

When I can’t get to Matt’s for a chili dog because I forgot what time they are closed, I go to any A&W within in reach for my fix. They’re okay. I can’t resist adding on a rootbeer float too.

I’ve always had good luck with A&W. Plus I like rootbeer.
They have pretty good burgers here and ok fries. And of course they have root beer!
They also have deep fried cheese curds which I have to admit to not trying. Sounds like a lotta salt to me.
So, an ok burger but by far not the perfection I seek. It will do in a pinch.
