Derick Hahn, DDS

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Hahn for over a year. He is very professional, personable — and conscious of the potential painful visits to a dentist. He always makes sure you’re comfortable. His hygienists are also nice — they remember you, and makes the entire experience better. I highly recommend Dr. Hahn.

I have been a patient of Dr. Derick Hahn’s for close to year after my debacle at Comfort Dental on 38^th & Pacific in Tacoma (see my other reviews). During that time I’ve had one cleaning, two cavities filled, and three or four other visits to adjust my bite because of the god-​awful job done at the other dentist. A few days ago I had a cracked tooth drilled down and a temporary cap put on. All work that I’ve had performed has been perfect as far as I can tell, no issues. A beautiful, thorough cleaning from the dentist himself, usually it is the hygienist in other offices. When Dr. Hahn anesthetizes, he waits ample time for you to numb up before beginning work. If you’re in pain at all, he stops. He’s excellent at fully explaining what he’s doing, and what you can expect after the procedure. Any questions I had were always answered completely. He’s honest about what is needed and when it is needed— this office admits they take a conservative approach to treatment, that is, they don’t just go in blazing and do a load of dental work. Personally, I appreciate this approach above all others, as once work is done to a tooth, it can’t be undone.
Making appointments is a breeze, and Beverly, the front office manager, is compassionate and competent. I believe their hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The offices are clean and bright, I’d perhaps like a poster or artwork on the ceiling above the chairs so when you’re getting work done you could escape in the picture!
Dr. Hahn’s hygienist is very sweet and capable, she’ll even offer a blanket for your legs as it can get cold sitting in one spot for a while.
I would recommend the dental office of Dr. Derick Hahn & Dr. Mitch Hungate to anyone in the area.

I went to visit Dr. Hahn for a cleaning this past week and was pleasantly surprised.
The new offices are brightly lit and parking is ample (vs. the old office off 180^th). The old office had some challenges with getting the turn into and out of the office with how busy those streets were by Valley Medical.
The cleaning went smoothly and quickly and Dr. Hahn was great at expressing what he was doing as well as apologizing if I had any pain and offering to stop if it was too much.
In the end, I got a goodie bag with a toothbrush, floss, etc. When I mentioned that I don’t prefer to mouthwash because it burns, he gave me a sample of Listerine Zero which has no alcohol. What an awesome experience!
