My favorite thing is the Spicy Chicken Livers. I love them. They are fried fresh and probably the best thing on the menu. The chicken is good but I think the chicken is a bit dry here. Maybe it has sat for so long. I would only recommend eating here every now and then cause the grease will kill you. Ezell’s has been around here for quite a while. It’s a NW staple. If you like fried chicken you will like this place.

I’ve been here 4 times everytime the food is hot and fresh but the customer service is bad. Employees need to be happy and greet the customer when they come inside. Instead of being on the phone texting. There phone is always up front charging so you don’t get the full 5 stars and if I go in there again I will adjust this review to make it 1 star get it together with The customer service it’s okay if it take 10 min for food other customer don’t want to wait I don’t mind but the customer service needs to be better needs time I come in or I’m adjusting the stars and never coming back to this location. I know it’s franchised.

Awesome chicken!!! Finally a fast food place that delivers good chicken! Goodbye Popeyes! Also, the fried okra, beans and rolls are heavenly. My only complaint is the mashed potatoes had absolutely no flavor and looked like instant potatoes. They were gross.

I heard about this place from a friend at work because I was craving chicken, which she mentioned Ezells. I’d like to note that I am not rating this restaurant for anything but their food. Since this place is basically a fast food restaurant you can’t expect a great deal of customer service. The dish I had was the spicy tender strip, with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. Let me say that the chicken was very well done, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. There was a lack of flavor. Their batter added nothing to the meal itself, a complete absence of spices. Their mashed potatoes had no trace of flavor, in all honesty you could get better instant mashed potatoes from your convenience store. As they started to cool off, they became a weird jelly texture which was surprising. To finish, their gravy had a strong pepper taste, with no other flavor. I was expecting to maybe get a home made dressing, but was presented with a choice of «happy valley» dressings. In conclusion, the chicken was well cooked, but the experience overall lacked creativity and flavor. I wasn’t expecting it, but Ezells is basically a fast food joint without the national chain.

All other chicken joints had oughta pack it up and go home. Ezell’s Famous Chicken takes the cake… errrrr, rather the chicken, bread pudding, and the most fluffy, mouth-watering rolls I’ve ever had. No joke. If you take nothing out of this review remember this one thing: Order more rolls. There a multitude of choices from chicken buckets to chicken tenders, original to spicy, sides galore including mashed potatoes and corn, and delicious desserts. While my husband always enjoys a three-piece meal, I always chow down the chicken tenders with french fries and a side of their slightly spicy, yet dangerously delicious bbq sauce. And of course, any review of mine(especially as they pertain to food) must include the cleanliness check as well as the customer service level. I applaud both at this Ezell’s location. Nice work, Ezell’s. You’ve gained customers for life, while we kick other chicken out of our house.

It’s everywhere! No doubt I’ll step in this little joint sooner or later to try out their amazing fried chicken! Came here on a Friday night around closing time and this place was packed! Wowza, people love their fried chicken! Ordered the chicken tenders combo and another four piece of dark meat. We waited around for about 10 minutes before our order was ready, that’s okay, I’ll wait for fresh out of the fryer chicken! Mmmm…the tenders were great! Still moist on the inside, crispy on the outside! Could use a little more spicy though in the batter. The dark meats were okay, not a huge fan of them but they were decent. I would love to come back and get their chicken tenders though. Their fries were good! I loved their dinner rolls. It was so soft and fluffy! Mmmmm…

Absolutely awesome, very nice chicken and rolls… I will say the sides are very small and wish they would reconsider that. Overall the taste and quality of the chicken is why I give it 5 stars. We will be back, its next to our new home!

First time at this Ezells and I have to say I’ll never ever be back again. The price for a single faygo pop is $ 2.69 that’s unheard of. To add insult to injury we ordered gizzards and any other place I’ve been to gives you ranch with your gizzards NOTEZELL’S that’s ridiculous! Who ever reads these reviews really need to take into consideration of lowering the prices on the soda and giving ranch with there gizzards. I’ll guess I’ll go to my other gizzard place and get all the ranch I want. I MADETHEMGIVEMEMYMONEYBACKALSO! IMNOTIMPRESSEDATALL! HONESTLYHIGHLYDISAPPOINTED!

This place is ok. We were here at 11 on a Mon. Nice service. Ordered chicken tenders both original and spicy. Some were right on tender. Others were slightly dry. Overall size was MUCH smaller per piece, like ½−2/3 the size of those at the Ezells in Seattle’s Central District… my kids even noticed the size difference. Otherwise, everything had a good taste with the chicken having a nice crisp exterior as expected of Ezells.

The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was because the staff was nice and they were fast. It’s tiny and should be consider a drive through. The chicken is overcooked, bland, and dry. The gravy tastes like it was made out of last weeks deep fryer grease. I don’t know who claims this place to be famous but the only thing it should be famous for is being the prime example why Asians should not be in the fried chicken business. Get my mother in law up here from South Carolina and let her in there then we will really have some amazing fried chicken.

What a difference! looks like management finally took notice of how awful the customer service has been and hired some new help? I was reluctant to come back since the crappy customer service seemed to be pretty consistent but my son begged me. Anyway, walked through the door and was immediately greeted with a hello instead of being ignored like I was non existent. All previous visits made me feel like I was just an inconvenience and they seriously hated their job. These girls working the front were wonderful. Happy, helpful, polite, they obviously know a thing or 2 about how to treat people and work well with the public. I will definitely be coming back more often. As for the mash potatoes, not very good at all. weird consistency and gravy has a strange flavor. Yuck actually, couldn’t even eat 2 bites. Chicken is great though. 5 stars for customer service 3 stars for food If management reads this, I visited on March 31st, around 5pm. The 2 girls working the front are truly wonderful and I hope they stick around. Thats the kind of service that keeps people coming back.

There was a time I would have given them 4 stars. Chicken is quite good, prices are reasonable. Here’s my issue. Take out restaurants such as this(there is limited seating for maybe a total of 10 people) generally mean people take the food to go. That means they want it fast. And 99.999% of take out restaurants have call-in ordering. Ezell’s used to. Not anymore. We are in there 2 to 3 times a week and would always call ahead so we didn’t have to wait for things to cook. Our kids play sports 3 seasons a year so are evening schedule with sports practices are crazy. We live about 4 minutes from this location so refusing to take phone orders turns a less than 10 minute round trip into 25 to 30 minutes. Service here has never been fantastic, attitude has always been indifferent towards customers. But as long as it was fast and tasty it was worth it. For slow and tasty and less than stellar service. Well let’s just say we’ve been getting our take out elsewhere a lot more lately.

I’m giving them 2 stars cause their rolls were delicious. However, their chicken and sides not great, not great at all. Definitely had better. And to the lady who answered the phone when we called… it probably would be a good idea to mention the business name rather than just saying hello. Not very professional at all. Customer service blows. We had a large party and for those that have been here know, it’s a tiny tiny spot. All they did was tell us to grab the chairs from the back. Good customer service would have involved them bringing the chairs out to us. Like I said 2 stars simply for the rolls.

I LOVE Heaven Sent Fried Chicken and knowing their back story, I decided to see how the company originated from Ezell’s Famous Chicken. Maybe I’m jaded towards Heaven Sent but after reading other reviews, I think I’m on point for giving Ezell’s on 4th St in Renton a 2 star rating. Like many have experienced, the customer service at this place is non-existent! I waited for more than 5 minutes before one of the wait staff acknowledged my presence. Compare this to Heaven Sent on 3rd St in Renton where it’s a FUN experience that makes you feel like you’re in the South — I like going to Heaven Sent just for their Southern hospitality. Being that it was my first time going to Ezell’s, I asked the cashier what she thought about Ezell’s versus Heaven Sent Fried Chicken. Sadly, the cashier did not know what I was talking about and could not give an opinion. My go-to meal at Heaven Sent is their spicy chicken strip combo. The same spicy chicken combo strip was found at Ezell’s and suprisingly, for the same price. The quality of the spicy chicken strips at Ezell’s cannot compare to Heaven Sent. The strips at Ezell’s were very dry with thin batter that lacked flavor. A fellow Unilocaler informed me that Heaven Sent uses buttermilk and that makes all the difference in flavor/taste/texture. I almost did not want to finish the chicken strips from Ezell’s because they were so chewy but alas, I cannot waste food. The side dishes of coleslaw and potato salad tasted almost identical. The rolls were dry whereas, Heaven Sent were flaky, warm, sweet, and one of the best parts of the meal. If you’re a Heaven Sent Chicken fan and curious to know where the chicken originated from, do not go to Ezell’s. Just trust that Heaven Sent is far superior!

Known throughout the demographic of middle aged American housewives as Oprah’s favorite fried chicken joint, Ezell’s takes me back to a simpler time when we didn’t have to worry about carbs or trans fats or none of that there nonsense. The food is as good as it is simple. You get fried chicken(choice of regular or spicy), traditional sides like cole slaw and mashed potatoes and biscuits. That’s it… none of this fancification with«chicken carnitas» and burgers with chicken filets as the bun and shiet… Totally reminds me of Cedric the Entertainer’s line about how things are so complicated nowadays. «People always be aksing me am I left wing, am I right wing, or what… Mannn, I just like sandwiches.»

I know there are a lot of negative review from Unilocalers for this location. I like this location for their Chicken strip and gizzard. Nothing else. Chicken strip is too die for and gizzard… OMG so food.

There is plenty of parking available at this location. I have been here numerous times over the years and the food is okay. I think the Seattle location is better. When I walked in there was a funky putrid smell that was hard to handle but just covered my nose with my scarf. The tables were dirty even though there was three employees and only one other customer. We ordered a pound of spicy chicken strips, spicy chicken breast and fried okra. You usually get a roll that comes with your order thats pretty tasty. It wasn’t as good as I remembered the food to be. The okra breading was mushy, the chicken tenders weren’t spicy enough and a tad dry and I am assuming the chicken breast was fine because my husband didnt complain about it. I had a bit of a tummy ache after I ate and I am not so sure if I will come back to this location. On the upside they have plenty of Faygo and their livers and gizzards are usually good.
