Learned quite a bit from Dr. Lemmon. Talked to me about my cat for an hour, and all that time was needed, with her extended history. We will go back, but only if we need to.

Absolutely, the best holistic veterinarian! Dr. Lemmon gave me samples of raw food to try to eliminate a skin problem with my dog and tons of information for our dog and us. His office is no nonsense strictly for your animal, no frills. If you believe in treating your animals as nature intended not through chemicals and vaccinations which just mask their symptoms and suppress your pet’s immune system, Dr. Lemmon is your pet’s biggest ally. I used to go to another holistic vet which was way, way more expensive, but Dr. Lemmon is my dog and cat’s vet now.

After my very first visit there about a week ago, I will not be going to any other vet.
THE REASON: I had woke up one morning and my American Pit Bull Terrier had pretty severe rashes underneath her underarms that had appeared over night. I had always thought about visiting this vet after hearing such good things about Dr. Lemmon, but I never really had a good reason to go until then. When I found the rash, I immediately called the clinic and they were able to get me in the same day about an hour after I had called.
THE CLINIC: His clinic was fairly easy to find and seems to have been a small house that they had converted into a clinic. It’s a pretty old school building with old school decorations, but it is NOT a indicator of the service that you will be provided with.
FIRST IMPRESSION: The receptionist was very friendly on the phone and when I came in and we were able to see the doctor almost immediately upon arriving. From what I can tell this hospital only seems to have the doctor and his front desk lady working there, which is actually kind of nice.
PRICING: Dr. Lemmon seems to be extremely affordable for the services you get. He charges per half hour ($ 55) or hour, which you would NEVER see at any other vets. You’re lucky to get even 10 minutes with a actual practitioner just about anywhere else. We only needed half an hour for our visit, but I felt that I had learned more in that 30 minutes from this vet than I have ever learned from all the vets I have ever visited combined.
MY EXPERIENCE: The entire experience was very personable and informative. Dr. Lemmon knew EXACTLY what he was talking about and was able to suggest a few options for me to take. I love that he works to treat the entire body, instead of just masking the symptoms. And because he does this he has to be extremely knowledgeable about how the body works and sees beyond just the symptoms.
I was sent home with a lot of literature for me to read and several different tinctures that I could use on her. After the appointment, I went out and bought one of the tinctures that he recommended (Oregon Grape Root) and started to use it 2 – 3 times a day on her rashes. Within a day there was already huge improvements. Within 3 days it was completely gone.
MY DOGS OPINION: As silly as this may seem, it really ended up proving to me even more why I loved this clinic and doctor. But first a little bit of a back story to help you understand. The dog that I had taken to this clinic was brought into our home about 2 years ago when her and her 5 puppies were flown from a California shelter before being scheduled to be euthanized. She (and all of her puppies) were extremely emaciated and suffering from SEVERE mange and secondary infections, resulting in almost complete hair-​loss throughout their entire bodies. She spent about her first year with us in the rescue’s vets office about every week or so for routine skin scrapings so she is absolutely terrified of vets offices and sincerely hates the experience. Because Highlands Veterinary Clinic seems to be based in a home style environment, I feel that that helped my pups anxiety issues immensely. But what floored me the most was how quickly she warmed up to the doctor. Not only was she nudging him whenever he stopped petting her, she even snuck in a few kisses to his face!
WRAP UP: I couldn’t be happier with my first experience with this doctor. He really is A BREATH OF FRESH AIR when it comes to the medical community and I can truly say that I don’t think I have ever been happy with my experience at a doctors OR vets appointment until this one.

Dr. Lemmon is amazing. I found him from a book I read, The Nature of Animal Healing by Martin Goldstein (excelleent by the way). He was listed in the appendix so I looked him up. I’ve been going to Dr. Lemmon for over 15 years. He is a naturopathic/​homeopathic vet (as well as western trained). Not only has he helped my dogs over the years but myself, as well. He is a storehouse of knowledge, and the appts do not last 10 or 15 minutes, but usually at least 30 minutes and sometimes an hour depending on what you are talking about. He has truly made my dogs lives better. I changed my way of feeding and «medicating» my dogs due to him. He also does alternative therapies such as Bowen Therapy and Aquapuncture (similar to acupuncture) which have amazing results for pain and imbalance. PLEASE take your pets to Dr. Lemmon! He will change your life, guaranteed. Western methods of filling pets with drugs and masking problems is NOT the best way to do things (not for people, either! Go to Bastyr!) and once you open your mind to natural and often ancient methods and remedies you will never regret it. I live 26 miles away, in Ballard, and it’s taken me up to an hour to get there. Worth it! When my dog was really sick I went twice a week for treatments. I cannot highly recommend this guy enough. Plus, his office calls were the same or less expensive than any other vet I went to before that! For the time he spends with you and your pet, again, totally worth every penny and every minute of the drive.

I’ve been taking my two dogs, a GSD and a Great Dane, here for several years. And I’ve been very happy with Dr. Lemmon’s holistic approach. I live about forty minutes drive away, but it is worth it. The office has a comfortable, warm, feel to it, rather than an institutional/​corporate feel.
