Michael’s Watch Repair

I have a small watch collection that is about ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ automatics and quartz watches so I usually have one of them in for new batteries or maintenance a couple of times per year. I just discovered Michael’s Watch Repair earlier this year when I got tired of my previous watch repair shop raising their prices. Michael’s is amazing. It’s run by two of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, the quality of work is first rate and the prices are extremely reasonable. The first time I went there, Michael replaced the glass (crystal) on my watch for about half of the estimate I had received from my previous watch repair shop and two others I had called for estimates. He also did a complex repair on a fairly expensive automatic watch which came back running far more accurately than when it was new. Michael works with a level of old-​world craftsmanship that isn’t seen much anymore. I would recommend Michael’s watch repair to anyone looking for top quality at a reasonable price.

$ 10 for a battery that costs $ 2.49 for a pack of 3 at Walgreens. No thanks.

I actually searched for a watch repair shop, as I had purchased a nice watch for my wife, and didn’t want to have the band adjusted at any old shop. I found Michael’s and it seemed like a nice small business and so we went over in the morning. We came in at about 9:30 am, and there was a nice lady there who took my wife’s wrist measurement and adjusted the band fairly quickly. I was happy there were no scratches made during the process, and the fee was very reasonable, $ 9 plus tax.
I will come back if I need more watch repair or adjustment done!

My Father wore an old Seiko Bellmatic; an automatic watch with a built in alarm. A few years ago I found it in his belongings in a box and started wearing it. However, it had never been cleaned to my knowledge and, after a while, it became all but inoperable.
Michael’s is close to my office, so I took the watch to him. He is a quiet and pleasant man and was clear about the price and the time it would take. He could not have done a better job. The watch works like new or at least it functions completely and smoothly.
I am not sure if the owner knows, but he has restored an heirloom and reattached memories that are pleasant and comforting. I can honestly say that is a profound and useful job to have.
Lest you think this is all emotional, remember, he fixed and restored a non-​working 40 year old unusual timepiece and for a very reasonable price. That by itself is reason for a good review.
