I’ve been coming here since 2004. They’ve come a long way since then. It’s the only place I’ll get banh mis in the valley. I love that they have a wide variety of sandwiches for those who don’t like the Vietnamese meatloaf/headcheese. The only sandwich I’ve tried is the special combo, number 1. It has a perfect balance of meat, pâté and veggies on a freshly baked baguette. SE is inexpensive, that is why I always recommend this place to friends and family. As long as I’m still living near the valley, I will come here when I get a banh mi craving.

Why did I even come here to be honest. The service was the terrible. Guy at the front was extremely rude as if I was begging for their food? But excuse you, I am paying for my food. It’d be nice to smile when customers come in thanks.

Overall okay Vietnamese sandwich shop. The foods good and the price is phenomenal. The problem is that the food gets boring real fast. The service is good, everyone I’ve met has been friendly. The only thing that throws me off is the cleanliness. They serve boba tea and cream on one end, and cooked meat on the other. It creates this weird combination in the room, but the cream side is really hot because of the ovens. Just makes me a little worried about the food. It doesn’t help that they had a B sign from health services. Who know what it is for(probably nothing to bad, I figured stuff happens) but it did make me feel a bit uneasy. Other than that the people are really friendly. Also, the prices are really cheap. It is a good budget fast food sandwich shop.

Fresh bread made on site. Very authentic Vietnamese sandwiches. A good option when you’re in a hurry.

When I was in la, a friend introduced me to banh mi. I really miss these sandwiches. The chicken sandwich was awesome. The bread as fresh. And boba was always good. I don’t know any store like that in Cologne. I am really craving for it.

I have to say, of all the Banh Mi I had in the Valley, this one is definitely the BEST ones I have in the valley. Heck, to my opinion, it’s even better than the ones in Orange County or the ones in China Town. Even by itself, the baguettes are very delicious & crispy. Especially freshly made. Besides purchasing sandwiches, I usually went here to purchase ONLY their freshly made baguettes for me to use it with my own cooking. I also like the price too. Price is acceptable especially consider a good deal when it comes to purchasing good sandwich even good bread too. Keep up the good work Sandwich Express. You definitely have my vote for best local breads & local sandwiches in the neighborhood. Best wishes to your business.

Banh mi is their business! One of the best places in the SFV for a Vietnamese sandwich. There’s a variety of sandwiches to choose from and they make them pretty quick. The grilled chicken banh mi(#10) was fantastic. The shredded chicken was flavorful and warm against the crisp pickled carrots, daikon, and cucumber. I love their buttered baguette. The freshly baked bread was great and seriously makes this sandwich what it is. Not too hard but still had that wonderful crunch to it. There’s plenty of parking in the back and for around $ 4, the foot long sandwiches are a deal!

My coworkers took me here for linch and ive never had vietnamese sandwiches before. I was intrigued. I ordered #1 sandwich first bite i was blown away. It like eating phở meat in between long bread. Asian style subway. Not to insult this place but just a comparison. This is a good go to stop

If you order sandwiches you’ll get this gentlemen right here popping out from the back doing everything from a-z with no gloves on, and he’ll look at you like wtf are you looking at me for?

I have been meaning to write a second review for the past couple of weeks. The sandwiches have always been great. The customer service seems to be getting better.

How do you go wrong with Sandwich Express?! This is my go to spot for good banh mi. It’s a lot better than Lee’s Sandwiches. Trust me. Go get some. You won’t regret it. I always get the pork roll with pâté. You can ask to have the sour vegetables placed on the side.

The food is not so great. I like Van Sandwich better. The service is bad. Counter helpers are not nice, hot temper, not friendly. They shout very loud at customer sometimes. They do not care of customer.

I had to drop a star because I realized that their order-taker seems to always be rude and impatient. Excellent food still, and you can’t beat their prices. So that doesn’t change. But I usually give 5 stars when service is also top notch. So allow me to make a correction on that. Rudeness is felt regardless of cultural differences. I felt it on more than one occasion. Therefore, I’m dropping a star. If I had taken it personally, it would’ve been 2 stars dropped. But I still come here often and I do love their sandwiches, and their boba drinks. I even like that they sell Asian snacks and side dishes too.

Great Vietnamese sandwiches! Picked up three sandwiches for the drive back to the Bay Area: grilled pork, grilled pork skin and the avocado sandwich. All three rocked! Beats having to stop for fast food along the 5 any day.

This is definitely my go to Banh Mi spot in the Valley. I like the baguette breads that they use, it has a nice crisp and taste to it. The meats and veggies are fresh, and they make the sandwiches quickly in front of you. The sandwiches cost around $ 4 each. DEFINITELYRECOMMEND!

3.5÷5 Banh mi Dac Biet – Baguette was hard on the outside soft and buttery on the inside; the filling of the Dac Biet I ordered was generously filled with Vietnamese deli meats, and the assortment of the Vietnamese veggie norms(cilantro, pickled carrots and jicama, Serrano peppers– gangs all there!) with a good tasty size of my all time favorite, liver paste. For $ 4 it’s a bang mi worth trying and getting. 0⁄5 Boba –the boba sucks don’t make the same mistake I did; confidently hold your nose high more so, its called sandwich express not boba express; It’s Horrifying let me elaborate, the boba was very hard in the middle, I could tell it was previously frozen since it was not cook evenly; I was spitting boba balls in the passenger side on the right while the driver was spitting them to the left. #6 and #13 Please!!! Whenever I’m in the Valley this is my go to spot. Even though I’m not eating it right away I would just pick it up and save it for later, the best part about saving it for later I could add avocado, egg and siracha to make it more gourmet. The bread is crunchy and the meat is and sauce is so good.

Stopped by here while fixing my friends computer. I wasn’t familiar with the area so she gave me a few options on where to eat and I decided on this place. She said for Banh mi, it was either this place or Lee’s. I guess living in the 626, I have plenty of banh mi to judge this from but if you’re living in the area this place would be the place to go for banh mi. I ordered the grilled pork banh mi for myself and her husband and my friend got the bacon wrapped shrimp banh mi. Grilled Pork Banh Mi — This came with grilled pork, pickled diakon/carrots salad, jalapenos slices, cilantro, cucumber, and butter in a baguette. Bacon Wrapped Shrimp Banh Mi — This came with Bacon, Shrimp, grilled onions, cilantro, and butter in a baguette. Parking — parking is in the back of this place or on the streets, Seems like the parking in the back is shared with other close by stores. Overall, just okay.

Just writing this review reminds me of the worst experience I had in my life, it was a wonderful Sunday afternoon and me and my boys were feeling a little hungry, so we decided to check out what’s good in the area on Unilocal.I click nearby and when I saw«sandwich express» I got in the mood to enjoy a nice sandwich. I start reading the reviews and from what I read it seems like a pretty decent place to eat.(Little do I know everything written is a bunch of lies that set me up almost puking till my death) after reading the LIES, me and my friends decide to go to sandwich express to eat«the best sandwich in town» is what they like to call that garbage. We walk in and the first thing I notice is the nasty smell, I choose to ignore it and look at the menu, I see number 6 says pork sandwich so I thought id give it a try and my friends just went along and got the same thing. In my mind I think I’m about to receive a delicious sandwich but little do I know I’m about to get a sandwich that looks like a pigs intestates infested with Ebola or something. I unwrap the sandwich and my mind goes blank after what I see. The meat is pink and bloody and they literally just shoved a cucumber in there. Must I remind you I was very hungry so I was stupid enough to actually take a bite. As I bit into the sandwich, my life flashed before my eyes and I started having flashbacks of my childhood years thinking I was about to die any second. My friends starting laughing at my face cause I was redder than a fucking tomatoe. The price on the menu for that sandwich was 3 dollars and I thought that was a nice deal but I noticed why after I took that first bite. That was the worst $ 3 I ever spent in my life. I rather be walking down the street alone at night and get robbed for $ 100 than walk into sandwich express and get another one of those horse shit sandwiches or whatever they call them. To those of you reading this to see if you should check this place out or not, PLEASETAKEMYWORDANDDONTDOIT.
