I emerge from the doctor’s office Friday morning after having blood drawn with two thoughts: one, I have to get to work; and two, fasting for 12 hours for the cholesterol panel sucks. No nightly glass of wine, no breakfast granola bar or chai milk or coffee or juice… but I digress. Stabbing the up button on the elevator repeatedly does not help as much as I wish it would. Moments before the elevator doors ding open, tinny music from the hallway draws my attention. At that point, I stagger the 15 feet with all the grace of a brain-hungry zombie transplanted into Sleeping Beauty, into the deli I’d only noticed in passing during a prior rainy visit. Accepts credit cards! Things were looking up. The lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful, directing me to the breakfast menu along the right and front boards. I bypassed the chips, crackers, and ice cream freezer, fully intent on some semblance of real food. After her remark about all her customers that morning coming in with gauze on the inside of their elbow, I’m convinced that half their business must be from the worker bees of the corporate plaza, and the other half must be from the starving patients of the medical practice I just departed from. Great service to be honest, and a friendly tip to pace my food and drink a lot of water when breaking my fast. She teased me a little for ordering so much for myself(which made me glad I left the last tiramisu off my order), and the warning was well-given. The french toast and the ham & egg croissant was enough to sate me until dinnertime. Both freshly made to order, she managed to juggle another customer’s purchase while popping in and out of the kitchen. The french toast was 3 slices of white bread halved into triangles and dredged with egg and a packet of Splenda, with a small container of syrup. Ham wasn’t so fresh(surprising for a place that probably gets more lunch business) so I’d go with sausage from here on out; I’d rather get frozen stuff cooked than risk bad deli meat. Super filling and relatively tasty nonetheless. I recommend eating there if you can, it’s way better while still hot. The pre-packaged Daisy’s walnut pound cake was a winning finish.

This place has the best breakfast omelettes! The food is made fresh when you order. The family that owns and runs the deli are very friendly. This is a great place to go for breakfast or lunch especially if you’re sick of all the chain restaurants. Oh yea, they also have beer and wine.
