I had high hopes for Beachmont Liquors, because I saw that they delivered and were in Revere. Seems like a sweet deal, right? I call at 6:30pm and they take my order. I ask how much and they say $ 15. I ask if they take cards and they say no. I check my wallet and see that I have $ 19, so i said, no worries and that I have cash. They call me back at 7pm and say they can’t deliver here because it’s rush hour and I’m too far. I was surprised by that, since we’re both in the same town. I asked if they could deliver after rush hour. They said they could and would be there around 8pm. Great. I’m easygoing and in no rush and they can deliver later. Win-win. True to what they said, the female driver calls and it’s just past 8pm. So far, I’m impressed. She wouldn’t come up to my floor, but I’ve found that a lot of delivery places won’t in this area. No big deal. I come down. She asks for my ID, and I give it to her, and she hands me the bottle. She then tells me that it’s going to be $ 23. I say that I didn’t realize it was going to be $ 23 and that I had $ 19. She rips my money from my hands and then proceeds to make a huge scene in front of my building, raising her voice, waving her hands in the air and treating me like a piece of dirt. I said, I’m sorry and that I didn’t know. She never took the alcohol back and I would have gladly given it to her. It was a nice-to-have not a need-to-have.She’s storming off to her car, yelling back at me and asking me if I thought she did this for free, stating that they must have told me on the phone(they didn’t), did I realize how far she had to drive and then screams at me to never call them again. I was shocked and kept my calm, even though I was steaming inside. How dare you come to my home and make a huge scene in front of my building?! She then takes off in her car and I realize that she still has my ID. I head back up to my place and call the store, asking for the manager. He answers and I explain what happened. He apologized for her behavior and I asked to have someone else deliver my ID back to me. He said no problem and that she was out of line and that she probably overcharged me for delivery, because I live too far. Really?! REALLY?! That’s nice. Delivery charges are what you make up to suit you. Anyway, he calls me back and tells me she’s on her way. Whatever. At this point I’m glad she’s just bringing my license back. She calls me and I go down to get it. Her attitude has changed, but she’s not sorry. She apologized because they ask her to. She says she’s sorry, and here is my ID. Then she launches into this monologue about how the owner is old and it’s his fault he didn’t tell me about the charge and how he doesn’t know what he’s doing, etc, etc. I interrupt her and say, You do know it was wrong for you to make a huge scene where I live, right? She then keeps making excuses about driving across town and how I should have been told, etc. I cannot stand people who have no personal accountability. We started to have a civil, albeit disagreeing, back and forth. It wasn’t going anywhere, so I thanked her for bringing back my ID and went inside. I’ll never order from there again, or shop there, and I’m tempted to share my experience on our complex’s bulletin board. First impressions are everything and they made such a poor one.

Beachmont Liquors(or Jacks, as we locals like to call it) is an institution, a family-run business where the husband and wife work night and day, their kids are there, too, running the show, and are the unofficial mayors of Beachmont. As soon as I was legal to buy here I was carded once and my DL was never requested again. And yes, Jacks is on speed dial on my cell phone. I have been in neighboring towns and when asked to make a beer run I will take the extra time to give my money to Jacks(their prices are good, too).

Oh Beachmont, of the many things to offer, your liquor store is unparalleled. As I really don’t spend much time«out» where I live, aside from maybe Stop ‘N Shop and Target, this is probably the only review I’d have other than a couple deliveries that frequently service my apartment and this really is no different. An extra 10 pts should be awarded to BL if only because they offer delivery. Alcohol delivery. I don’t think I had ever heard of such a thing up until my move here. Those nights when you can barely propel yourself the ½ mile down the street in your car to pick up some swill for a party or maybe yourself, while waiting for a pizza to arrive from Revere House. This. Is. Amazing. Their selection is fairly generic, but they do have Stoli Vanila which State Road Liquors does not, and the staff is much more friendly. I’ve spent a decent amount of time after purchasing just discussing the local events, you know, the uj, shootings, drug busts, weather patterns, recipes for bundt cake…
