Big Lots

All I can say is, if you shop here for furniture: come prepared with your own truck and help. They contract out for delivery guys… and have absolutely ZERO organization with holding purchased items, and ensuring the delivery person has the right item before leaving the store. They sent a love seat to me instead of the sofa I purchased, despite my calling and confirming my name, delivery company’s name, the item name and transaction ID. Then when I called to report the issue, instead of owning it they tried to blame me, then the delivery guy for THEIR MISTAKE!!! Basically arguing with me over the phone and implying I’m a liar. Mind you, I’m a social worker, and trying to argue integrity with me is always a losing battle for the other person. I ended up getting what I needed. But that type of behavior of staff is Never a good business choice. Train your staff!!! Great values here, that’s for sure– but come prepared because you can’t rely that they will be. Lesson learned.

Today I stopped in at this Big Lots location to grabs some bare essentials for a family member’s home. After shopping here I ended up walking out without any merchandise.
The first issue was that the aisles were a bit disorganized but fairly well stocked. The biggest issue was that they had some merchandise but not others. An example was that we were looking for plastic wrap but they didn’t have any.
The other concern was that their checkout aisles were really backed up. That being said, if I wasn’t in a hurry then waiting in line would have been fine, but at the time it wasn’t worth the wait for the two items I had. Hopefully we have better luck next time.

Super new Big Lots in revere, this place is great for quick cheap things. Big selection here for many different things from home and garden to your vehicles to your home furniture. The furniture is decent quality but a great price non the less. Everything from futon mattresses to sofas and bedding. Also a nice added bonus there are cold products available, from soda to milk and freezer products.

So this Big Lots is in the building space that used to house a Stop and Shop before it closed down years ago. I was wondering what was going to come rent the space and saw that it was going to be a Big Lots and was pretty excited as I’ve actually never been to one before. I was expecting something in between a Walmart and a Target and that’s exactly what it felt like.
My first impression was that they opened up a little too early as there were empty shelves all around the back area and a lot of personnel still moving furniture around in the furniture department. The people working there were very nice though from my first impression. Though when I went up to the cash register which had three lanes open with no customers in line at all, I chose one of them at random and was left waiting as the cashier told me to wait a minute while she talked to the other cashier about who knows what. I was a little put off by it and irritated but the third cashier ushered me to his station and rang me up.
I saw a lot of good deals with packaged goods especially. They had stuff I haven’t seen in other big retailers like Target and Walmart so I was pleasantly surprised. Overall a good store for a quick shopping experience but nothing too fancy. I’m just happy they finally filled the empty store lot up with something that is pretty practical for the area we’re living in.
