We stopped here on a pre-blizzard morning after gathering supplies to weather the storm. Two of the restaurant’s waitresses were standing outside having a smoke. It was almost comical how much of a diner this place is – complete with tacky waitress uniforms, icky laminated menus, and everything sticky. Our waitress was friendly and knew the menu like the back of her hand. Don’t expect anything outrageous here – it’s as simple as simple can get. I got the super plate and the manfriend went for an egg white omelette. A large family joined the empty restaurant shortly, but our waitress kept up fine. Our food came relatively quickly. Real eggs, crisp bacon, cooked home fries, and perfectly toasted bread. The french toast was plain – more like white bread dipped for two seconds in eggs… thinking about it now, that’s probably exactly what it was. I subtracted one star for under seasoned food and the place did not have a properly functioning vent. The smoke and smells got pretty awful towards the end of our when the cook was preparing the other family’s order. Needless to say our jackets smelled like bacon and eggs for the rest of the day.

A hole in the wall place with the greatest folks and awesome food. Too bad there isn’t a sixth star option!

Awful! Went in order the Bonanza, the dish has a hair in it. The lady did not apologize at all. We left right away. Ugly!

I drove by this place for more than a year before I decided to try for breakfast today. We ordered DiNer # 2 with hash browns and a Tuna melt sandwich. –Diner #2: eggs were good, pancakes were good, hash brown not edible extremely undercooked!!! –Tuna melt sandwich: the sandwich was amazing, fries tasted like fish, I have seen them fry calamari in the same fryer where the fries were put earlier so that explains it! Overall food was ok and ok priced but I won’t try it again unless there is absolutely no other place to go to.

Diners, beware. Boy, what an experience. Currently sitting at the counter. Despite the young and freckled waitress’s best attempts at helping us, the trip here was a train wreck. I deeply regret coming here and I haven’t touched my food. We came in here about 40 minutes ago and a waitress took our order. She then left, forcing the other waitress to complete our order, which she initially thought consisted of a breakfast sandwich. There are two of us sitting here, and no, we’re not splitting a breakfast sandwich. So yeah, there’s a pancake currently on the grill that will complete our order. I estimate that, from arrival to exit, we will have been here for 45 minutes before we got our food — the same food that is now sitting there and getting cold. This place has the worst service I’ve encountered in a long while. Never. Again. Good thing I’m living the craphole that is East Boston next week.

Stopped in to grab a late breakfast the other day. Eggs, bacon, home fries, and coffee. All were perfect. Service was top notch. Very cool throwback place. I will be a regular for sure.

Good food but awful service. We went in because we’d heard that the potatoes were good. And, damn, they were. The eggs were cooked perfectly. My buddy’s corned beef hash was done just right, too. But let’s walk you through the scenario: we walk in, no one says anything for a bit. Eventually, they tell us we can sit anywhere. It’s more than half empty. No menus on the tables, and we probably wait more than five minutes for anyone to wander over with a menu. The waitress walks past us at least twice, ignoring us. Menus took a while, drinks too a while… but like I said, that food is good. It just about balances out, hence three stars. I just wouldn’t make a habit of going whenever their busy period is.

This is a typical greasy spoon. Service is a little slow, but that is because there is 1 cook(who you can see). However, my husband, who is from the land of diners(New Jersey) really enjoyed his food. We will be returning.

I’ve been passing this place for years and never even thought to stop at it, til I wante to try something new for brunch. So, its very cold and dark in there, almost like you are sitting in a mechanics garage, but the staff is super friendly and warm. I didn’t get breakfast but a friend did and said it tasted too much like oil or whatever fat they used to n the grill. I got a reuben which was delicious and got their home fries which were some of the best I’ve had yet.

Was headed from Boston to Revere. Hit this place up on my way. Cute little place. Plenty of parking. We got 3 pancakes, a diner #3 which consisted of 3 eggs, home fries, sausage, and toast. I got the grilled english muffin instead of toast(highly recommended. sooo good!) 1 soda, and an OJ. Price came to $ 13 and change. To be honest you can’t really beat that price for breakfast for 2. Food was decent. Service was a little slow but it seemed rather busy. Wasn’t in a rush. Would definitely do this place if I were in the area again.

Good food and fast service. This is not a fine dinning establishment by any means, but decent food at good price.

If I could give this zero stars, I would. We love a good diner breakfast, and have driven by the Drive In Diner several times. We finally decided to give it a whirl this morning. Bad decision. We arrived with our two-year old. We had to wait a couple of minutes. No big deal. A table emptied, and we waited patiently for the server/busser to clean it up. She took the plates off the table, then went over and talked on her cell phone for about 5 – 10 minutes. This should have been a sign. There were several people waiting, so in order to get out of the way, we went over to the table and sat down. The server finally finished her conversation and then wiped down the table. We ordered shortly after. This was about 12:10 pm. We talked, colored with our daughter(who luckily is well-behaved, no yelling or crying), and were doing fine. I noticed that the 6 top next to us got their breakfast, as did the couple next to us. Several people left, and a few new people sat down. I started to get antsy when the 6 top finished their meal and left. And moreso when I saw people who arrived AFTER us start getting their food. By this time, it was 12:45 pm. And we were starving. I asked the server about our order. She assured me that it was coming. Another 10 minutes. Nothing.(And it’s not like we ordered something complicated — eggs, bacon, hash browns, pancakes, and toast.) I see an order come up — I was hopeful — but no, it went to someone who had been in the place for maybe 15 minutes. Bastards. At this point, the place was practically empty. I called the server over and told her that this was getting ridiculous. We had been here almost an hour with no food.(In fact, she was damn lucky that I have a good kid — making a 2 year old wait for an hour to eat is not a great idea.) She then plunked down two plates of bacon. 5 minutes later, our eggs. Another 5 minutes later, the pancakes and toast. The wrong toast, not what I ordered. And the hashbrowns were practically raw. Our server then offered me more tea. No thanks, lady, you should have asked about that like, oh, around 30 – 40 minutes ago. She also asked if I wanted butter for my pancakes. I said, «yes, please» and she never brought it. Instead, she just sat behind the counter and chatted with her co-workers. Not one time did she check back. She never uttered a word of apology, even when I told her how unhappy we were. No percentage off the check. It’s clear that they forgot or lost our ticket — but there was no explanation or apology or anything. And she never even raised the red flag on our order until I asked about it — that was when they FINALLY started to make it. Total BS, especially when the place was practically empty. It’s not like she was slammed. I really hope she enjoyed her $.04 tip. It takes a LOT to tick me off. I am particularly forgiving because I was a server for years. But this was absolutely unacceptable. I wish we’d only left her a penny, 4 cents was too generous.

My husband and I love greasy spoons. We lived in Winthrop, so we would frequent the Drive-In Diner. We always get a #2 or #3 breakfast special. It’s straight up diner breakfast at it’s best. They have dark rye, which is worthy of an extra ½ star alone. Great pancakes too. Coffee is good, but no longer free with breakfast. But, for a measly $ 2.50 it is a bottomless cup. We’ve never ventured out of teh #2, #3 and short stack realm, so we can’t speak for the rest of the food.

I like this place mainly because I could throw a stone from my bedroom window and hit a car in their parking lot. Not literally, but you know. Almost. Anyway, their food is just OK. Tasty but not homemade(their oatmeal is literally single-serve packets of Quaker), the grub hits the spot at the right price. I recommend the grilled cheese on sourdough. With ham.

At the beginning of coastal drive north, we popped in here randomly — literally just drove by and said«hey — how about that?» What followed was a really good breakfast served in a basic diner atmosphere, complete with a group of assorted female servers and a pretty serious looking griddle cook. Let’s be clear — this is a low-key diner, nothing fancy, but when you can get food this good for a low price, good service and free coffee(!) — that’s four stars to me. I had an awesome concoction known as a diner meltdown — griddled rye bread, halved link sausages, hot eggs, and swiss cheese. Now this sounds like possibly it would just be a big pile of ingredients, but the sandwich actually worked, meaning that all of it together was better than the various component parts, which were really pretty good anyway. Mom had a veggie omelette, and to my surprise, it came with all sorts of nice fresh veggies inside — red and green peppers, spinach, mushrooms, etc. All cooked well to overall good effect. As an aside, I wound up seeing the back room(as that is where the restroom is) and it was very clean.

Cute and quaint little diner. Retro decorations and pretty regular/good service. I got a belgian waffle. I just moved here(as in the day I went here) from California so maybe our belgian waffles are fluffier and higher. I had the flattest belgian waffle I had ever had here though! It was a little on the bland side(maybe this is Massachusetts style though who knows.) I’d say the waffle was a 2 star. The décor and service was a 3 star. But I’m reviewing the food not the decorations so a 2 star it is.

I had a very good experience at this diner. I have been in diner mode the last couple weekends, craving pancakes and greasy eggs. I suggested this one to my boyfriend and he agreed to go for breakfast today. We sat at the bar area and were instantly greeted by a friendly waitress, then the owner I believe, came over to greet us and take our order. She asked if we wanted to start off with a special milkshake of the day and described it in detail. It was a nice touch, but we just got coffee. For breakfast I had one of their combination specials. 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, toast, and home fries. All for only $ 5! It was excellent. The pancakes alone were enough to fill me up and the home fries were great! My boyfriend had a sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with a side of bacon. He ate his so fast and loved it. The service was very warm and pleasant. We were checked on by multiple people through the meal. The atmosphere is neat. Very vintage diner with old signs advertising ice cream sundaes and root beer floats. It’s also slightly modernized with 2 lcd tv’s on the walls. The place was also very clean. Another big + for a diner. There were homemade desserts on display that looked great. Also a bowl of twinkies and ring dings for sale. I was almost tempted to get a twinkie to go but was so full from my breakfast I decided to pass. There is an outdoor seating area with a few tables and umbrellas too. Its convenient if your in the Revere area cause its right off the street and easy to spot. We’ll be back. I am still am thinking of that homemade apple pie on the counter for next time!

Formerly, Three Yolks Diner, Drive-In diner has been given a second chance at greatness under new management. The restaurant is much, much cleaner, the staff is more friendly and less gruff and the menu has changed a bit. Drive-In is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, though I have only been for breakfast. And it is open 24 hours Thursday thru Sunday for you night owls. The breakfast menu is broken down into«features» and omelettes, and don’t forget to check out the specials board as you walk in. I strongly suggest that you get a side of home fries with whatever you order cause they were pretty tasty. The eggs Benedict I ordered was satisfactory, however, my fiancé ordered the Big Jake which was poached eggs with canned hash and choice of toast. Let me tell you, he was quite unhappy about the canned hash. My aunt ordered the pancakes which were a bit gritty for my taste but the rest of the food was decent. The staff and owner were all very friendly, however, the five of us got our food at all different times, so my aunt and cousin got their meals about 10 minutes after we got ours. Not cool. Oh, and though it was cleaner than it used to be, there were still a lot of fruit flies buzzing around our heads as we ate. The place is much improved, but there are still a few kinks to be worked out.
