The Plaza is «alright». Coming to Boston from Texas this was the first place I experienced the Mexican fare and the Latin experience. We decided to go as a group so it was me and a few others. We walked in and the placed was MUY empty! I think we were the only customers(Maybe why they don’t serve food anymore?) I ordered up a round of the Mole which they had a red and green one? I have a wonderful Mexican Bistro I go to in San Antonio, TX called Ajuua… so I got the red Mole to compare. I wanted a nice spicy, chocolaty thick sauce with some cheese on top with tender juicy chicken underneath. Visually the Plaza’s Mole just didn’t size up… then the taste test… it was okayyyy, I guess but no comparison. As we sat there people did start coming in and the table were being moved aside and all of a sudden the place turned into a Latin Dance Club with a live bad… I LIKED!!! I would maybe go back to salsa it up… but after hearing about the drink prices… maybe not?

I haven’t been here for a very long time because of the prices. 2 drinks for 20 bucks… really? Come on, guys; you ain’t in downtown Boston. Let’s be a little realistic here. The music use to be really good. The last time I was there it was okay. You got your usual salsa, merengue, bachata, a little dance, and a little punta(my favorite). Ladies, if you’re looking for a good lookin’ guy, you probably wont find it here. Just a bunch of older guys that stare at you all night, grab your hand when you walk by, and wonder why you’re not giving them the time of day. This club use to attract an older, mature, safer crowd. I don’t think it’s like that anymore. Little scummy. but if you’re looking for something low key then I would recommend this place…

Any place that frisks you going in, serves beer in plastic cups, and smells like a barnyard, well… need I go on?

This place used to be a 4 star place to go to on Friday and Saturday nights. Ever since the new management takeover around January or so, it hasnt been the same. Switching up Latin and Dance music for Brazilian and others, I’ve gone back once and was throughly disappointed. I was friends with the DJ and photog being there so many times and having our pics on their websites so often. Our favorite Bartender knew our drinks and it was like a second home. With the DJ gone, photog moving on to Lido’s and the Bartender off to greener pastures, its hard to go back. I think we might try it again sometime just to check the temperature but for the $ 10 cover charge I remember, it might not be for a while. Although, if anyone else checks it out, let me know!
