When you walk in, be prepared to be greeted with a loud Sivetz coffee roaster, great coffee and the nicest owner of a business you’ll ever meet. We had to walk from our cabin to Rhododendron(a couple miles) due to car troubles and stopped by for coffee. We were ecstatic to even see a coffee spot because it had been a rough week dealing with our car. I’m pretty sure we saw a break of light through the clouds shining right on the little building. Anyways, we walked across the street and instantly smelled the glorious scent of coffee. It was magic. As we opened the door, we were hoping we’d see a little seating area inside, but there wasn’t any, so we moved towards the register. The roaster they use is inside and was being used at that time. It had a loud, vacuum noise and was really cool to watch as Rick, the owner, excitedly explained how it worked to us. After ordering our coffee, we asked if they could recommend a spot for us to hang out as we waited for a tow truck. We were on foot, so someplace not too far. Rick offered to have us hang out in one of the cabins they own that hadn’t been turned yet for the next people coming in. Whoa! Hospitality at its finest! If you do nothing else but stop at Mt. Hood Roasters while you’re in the area, consider it a worth-while trip. We could not thank Rick and his staff more for their kindliness and warmth after having a couple of rough days!

Step aside Stumptown, Heart coffee, etc… this place is awesome. We stop at this coffee shop whenever we drive to Mt Hood and it’s a special treat. They roast their own beans and if you are lucky the owner will be there to describe the different processes for the wide variety of beans. He is very passionate and knowledgable about the roasting process so it’s fun to talk about the different types to get the one that you want. Plus the beans are half the price of Portland roasters and its just as good. Plus he gave us a free ¼ lb of large beans from Menonites in Nicaragua! Love this place, the coffee is great, so wonderful!

Coffee is quite good here. Small location, tucked in the woods. You can easily miss or confuse this place for a larger coffee shop next door. Poor signage. Service is not really friendly. Get your coffee and go. Keeping with the pay and leave theme, no seating indoors. Only one person working there. Younger girl. Somewhat slow service. Had coupon for free 2oz coffee bag. In my espresso machine now, good. Coffee roasting and bagging operations are all over the customer area. Using residential cooking equipment and Tupperware. They must not have strict health standards here. Overall good. I liked the coffee enough for be lenient on the rating. They should switch focus to just roasting, per their name.

This is one of those rare times when a five star rating feels like less than the business deserves. My wife and I, on a road trip from California, stopped in one morning and had literally the best coffee shop experience we’ve ever had. Everyone there was super friendly — what started out as an inquiry into local breakfast options turned into an excited four-way conversation of recommended places to go sightsee in Oregon. The place smelled amazing, our coffee was delicious, and I’m sad that we live an entire state away, otherwise I would be here every morning. These guys absolutely know their craft. Thank you for making two strangers feel welcomed!

Great coffee, awesome customer service and the cookies looked so good. Did a search on here for coffee and saw this place had 5 stars, had to try it. The roast the beans in same room that you order, a lady was doing it at the time so it was cool to watch and the very young man that was working the register and making the coffees was so nice. I asked for smallest size smoothie they got cause I pointed out its for my toddler and he made us this custom little 8 oz size smoothie and only charged a dollar. Thanks… if u like real coffee, highly recommend stopping here.

We came up here to spend the night in Mt. Hood Roasters Cabin! The staff was so nice and welcoming! I got our key, ordered a coffee and off to the cabin we went! The coffee was great, smooth, hot and delicious! The cabin is a small studio style cabin with everything you need! Although they had the heaters on for us, it was still freezing. We ran down to the store and got 2 bundles of firewood. That lasted us and definitely was the way to go. If you are depending on the heaters to keep you warm, you will be frozen! This is the perfect place to stay if you are skiing up at the mountain! It’s nothing fancy, but it has charm and will be a nice place to crash! Plus they have a private hot tub to relax in at night! They left us a bag of coffee for the coffee pot and I will say that was the BEST coffee I’ve had in years!!! So good, rich, and smooth! Overall a great place!

This place has the best coffee on the mountain! It’s not Starbucks so don’t expect lightening fast, but do expect friendly conversation and a great coffee drink. The owner is a Vet and his wife displays her Asian artwork in the little room next to the coffee room. I even have some hanging in my bedroom! Worth the stop if you are coming or going on Hwy 26!

Great service and great coffee. Enjoyed learning about all the different beans that are sold in the store. Prices are very friendly and drinks are great. We will be going back for drinks again! The store will sneak up on you but make sure to stop. You will not be disappointed. We had already been on a hike and hung out at Timberline and were in need of a mid day pick me up. Couldn’t have picked a better place.

I have driven by this place many times on the way up to the slopes, thinking I ought to try it on the way back down. Im always too tired or too in a hurry to get back and pass right by, yet I still manage to stop off at the larger outfits in Sandy or Gresham. I read the reviews here and so today I slowed down on Hwy 26 as I approached Zig Zag. There were a few people in line ahead of me and I overheard the barista say it was the busiest its been all day! First impression was that there was not a lot of extra distraction in the store, so I was hoping that meant this place just focuses on doing one thing right. I ordered an Americano, the barista hand pulled each shot like in the old days! I sat outside and like someone else mentioned and just watched the traffic go by and smelled the pine trees. The Americano was perfect, the espresso not too bitter or burned like I’m used to. I’m no expert in espresso, I just know that it was very good and I will make this my regular stop from now on. PS Please hide the salted caramel brownies between 2−3pm, they are amazing and I shouldn’t eat one every visit but I could! Thanks, Brian

This little place is great! We stopped in at 4:55 pm on a Sunday afternoon and they gave great service with zero attitude about having to make a couple of drinks 5 minutes before closing. We got iced americanos that were perfectly honey sweetened, and they offered the hubby a free shot rather than toss the extra they had to make to fill our order. Great shop, great coffee, great service – we will be back!

Visited here on seeing a flyer indicating they gave free tours of the coffee roasting process. Had no idea I was in for an informative and inspring story of not only the journey from green coffee bean to roasted finished product, but of Mt. Hood Roasters. Rick, the owner and proprietor, gave us an informed view of his business philosophy: keeping the coffee roasting business as local as possible(the law of concentric circles), emphasizing that knowing the source of your product and fostering relationships with your suppliers and clients is most important, even more so than labels like«organic» which can become meaningless without the teeth to enforce them. Most importantly, the product they produce at the end of the roasting process is not an automated, mass-produced bean, but a craft – controlled by the watchful eyes and attentive ears of a master roaster. If you have some time to spend, and you are at all interested in the story of coffee, you will not want to miss this experience!

Friendly, the coffee stand has a family-run/home grown kind of a feeling to it, loved the free sample that they give out if you check in on Unilocal and the coffee was yum. What more can I ask for? :)

This hole in the wall is TRULY a Gem in the rough. If it was not for the Central Oregon Breeze I am sure I would have never gone in or in my NOW future stop by this amazing place. I stopped here on the way over Mt. Hood & if it was not for Dairy Queen NOT being open I wouldn’t have stopped in. I walked in & was like WTH I didn’t know which way to turn or start browsing LOL I ordered a Hot Chocolate(I LOVEHOTCHOCOLATE) & while I was waiting looked around & they have some wonderful snacks there, an assortment of flavored popcorns & granola… yes, flavored granola. the staff was very friendly. I will always stop by every time I go over Mt. Hood. you should 2!!! =) BTW this place has the BEST Hot Chocolate in the WORLD!!! =)

Strange, eclectic little coffee shop off of U.S. 26 going up Mount Hood. Beware, the turn in has a little bit of a curb to it — not smooth at all! We were in dire need of caffeine. We were headed over the mountain toward Warm Springs and needed to be alert and our toes as there was a lot snow and ice on the road! I ordered a medium coffee(with room for cream). Strong, delicious coffee. They also offer espresso-based beverages. Check this place out!

The coffee here is as good as it gets. They pretty much have all the standard beans, as well as some amazing blends of their own(personally recommend the Trillium Trail Dark Roast). The little shop(run by a married couple) off highway 26 also serves as a roastery, so if you pop in you’ll often see(and smell) their rather unique roaster in action; which the extremely friendly owners will gladly give you an informative and brief run-down of the process(they know their coffee). Once you start drinking Mt. Hood Roasters coffee, you will be hooked, but not disappointed!

This is a first class coffee roaster of fine coffee beans. So if you want the freshest coffee you have ever tasted check this place out it is possible the finest and freshest coffee you will have ever tasted. The coffee beans you buy or that are used for your espresso are often roasted the day before It makes Starbucks taste like the bottom of a shoe and old and stale. The owner is possible the best part he is very nice and really appreciates ever dollar you spend there… So when coming home from skiing look for the espresso sign right before dairy queen and taste the finest coffee you have ever had
