A & W Contracting

On September 18, 2013, I accepted a contract from Mike Pope to remove the old flooring, install new ceramic title flooring, and install new floor baseboards in my entire home. The amount agreed upon was $ 3,800. The price included the entire installation. A few days later, a couple of other guys appeared at my house to begin the work. I was totally surprised because I was under the impression that Mike Pope would do the work. He subcontracted the job out without my knowledge or approval. After a few days of work, I noticed the subcontractors installed my flooring incorrectly. They had to tear it all out and replace the tile that was used with new tile. At that point, Mike Pope decided he wanted out of the contract. So I was stuck with his subcontractors to finish the work. After a few days of work, the subcontractors began making up excuses that they could not come to work on my place. The subcontractors never came back to finish the job and they were paid more than the $ 3,800 that was contracted on because they said the project was costing more. I called Mike Pope a number of times to ask for his help in completing my floor. He refused to help me. He said it wasn’t his problem. The original contract was between Mike Pope and me. He said in the beginning that he was going to do the work. I am filing this complaint because Mike Pope abandoned me when his subcontractors mess-​up the job. I was forced to find someone else to finish the job which cost me even more money. Mike Pope worked under the name A & W Contracting when he first contracted with me. Mike Pope has an «F» rating with the Better Business Bureau because he did nothing to resolve this. He didn’t even respond to the Better Business Bureau complaint.
