My husband has ordered supplies from this place for years, really with no problems, until 3 weeks ago… He placed a $ 30 order(not alot, but a customer none the less) and it never showed up, when he called to find out why he was treated like a burden to the person on the phone, even after they realized they sent it to our old address(they DO have the new address, we get the catalog) they acted as if they could give a care less. The guy told my husband he would reship the order but was terribly rude and never admitted any fault on their end. 3 weeks later my husband calls to see if they shipped to the new address and the man he spoke with called him a liar! Flat out called HIS customer a LIAR! Said that they cancelled his order and refunded his money, I said good, they don’t deserve a dime from us anyway! We will be finding a new place to do business! And as a small business owner myself I am appalled over the blatant disregard to the customer. I thought«the customer is always right» still stood for something. Not with these guys!

Warning: This is long, but worth the read! Do NOT give Barlow’s Tackle Shop ANY of your business!!! The lack of concern for customer service is downright disgusting. My husband and I live about 1 ½ hours from Richardson, but because they were the only shop around with the supplies he needed to start making his own lures… we decided to make the drive. We went about two weeks ago and were surprised at how the employees acted. As soon as you walk in the door, you enter a store with seemingly NO employees. We were in there a while before anyone finally came out to greet us. They acted like we were putting them out for being there. It was ridiculous. But, we weren’t going to drive all that way for nothing. We got our stuff and left as the employee basically ran past us to get to his vehicle. They were closing, and he apparently had somewhere extremely important to be. Fast forward to now. My husband has decided to create a business out of making this stuff and placed a pretty substantial order with them yesterday morning. He was told it’d be ready between 5 and 6(they close at 6:00). He said we’d be there at 5:30. We leave early to account for traffic because it’s absolutely brutal in that area. Even with that precaution, there’s of course an accident of some sort, and we’re delayed even more. At 5:48, I called to let them know we were 2 miles away, stuck in traffic, but were hurrying to get there. They knew what order we were coming to pick up(it was already paid for). They absolutely REFUSED to work with us. The girl who answered said I had 7 minutes to get there because they were closing and leaving at 5:55. I reminded her that their website and door shows 6:00, and she said if the store was empty… they left at 5:55. Knowing I was 2 miles away, she wouldn’t help us out. A man got on the phone and said they’d stay until 6, but not a minute after. I told them that after driving almost 2 hours… if we couldn’t get our order, we’d just have to cancel. He almost eagerly said cancelling would be fine. What?! You’d rather lose out on a large order than stay 2 minutes? Insane. We pulled into the parking lot at 5:59. The lights were out… vehicles were gone. It was a ghost town. As you can imagine, my husband and I were SHOCKED and furious, to say the least. So, we call today and ask to speak to a manager… assuming the only reasonable explanation is that we were dealing with idiots trying to run a business the day before. The manager gets on the phone, immediately with an attitude, and basically has nothing to say. When my husband mentioned cancelling and said he’d like to continue doing business with them(hoping the mgr would say or do SOMETHING to rectify the situation), the guy said he’d be happy to cancel the order and hung up. Are you kidding me?! This is an absolute joke of a business. We will NEVER use them again and strongly discourage everyone we know from stepping foot in that store. If you want to be treated like crap and feel as though the employees are doing you some kind of extraordinary service just by existing… then this place is for you. If not, then avoid them like the plague. When they go out of business(which is inevitable), then they can sit back and wonder what went wrong. Thanks for reading!

Been driving past this place for years and finally decided to stop in. It always looked closed but isn’t. The place is huge on the outside; when you get inside you see that the shopping space is about ½ of the exterior space, as the northern half is warehousing for even more fishing stuff. Highlights: * no frills, high functionality * no pushy salesjerks. Want something? Pick it up and pay for it. Done. * Tons of fishing supplies(literally). * Surprising amounts of fly fishing and typing gear. * A small historical gear display in the southeast corner * prices appear fair; didn’t feel hustled like in some other specialty shops * geezers working and geezers shopping. Entire lifetimes of fishing experience walking around the store. * real fisherpersons, not poseurs looking for a goretex jacket or titanium mug. «I need a minner bucket. Mebbe two, just in case.»
