This place is exactly what you think it is, which is definitely not a bad thing when it comes to this place. In addition, for what they do, they do great. A wide variety of different kinds of grilled cheeses for the adventurous eaters, but they have the basics for those who just want a classic grilled cheese. They also have great soups of the day and who knows what soup will surprise you. I’ve been here several times, and will continue to come here whether it’s for lunch or a quick dinner.

The food was great, the customer service on the other hand was not the best. The girl who took our order was friendly and very helpful but the guy making the food was a lot less pleasant. First the girl gives us our number and as I’m going to place it in the number holder he comes over with food and places it on the table, I knew it couldn’t have been ours because we had JUST ordered but without giving me a chance to speak he takes the number away from me and THROWS it at the girl taking orders with the other numbers. She walked over to us and took the food to the correct customer and then brought us our food once it was ready. The food overall was delightful, I don’t know if I would go back just because I wasn’t very pleased with the encounter I had with the one employee. —Wendy, it was May 20th around 7pm.

The food is good. The front end customer service is hit or miss. Either they seem sheepish and ignorant of the menu, Some are great, others must have failed at panhandeling.

Checked this place out because it is close to the UT Dallas campus and apparently it was backed by shark tank so that’s something different. Overall, not bad if you get one of the loaded grilled cheese sandwiches, but the price point is probably a little high for what you get. I got the longhorn which had roast beef, gouda, avocados, and onions in it. I got tomato basil soup dipper for the extra $ 1.The sandwich was actually pretty good and the flavors all paired nicely together. The only reason I’m not super impressed is because it’s just one of those foods that you can make yourself at home. Overall, not a bad place to check out since they do have a lot of options for loaded grilled cheese or even donut grilled cheeses. I like it for being a fast casual type restaurant.

This might be my new favorite place! It’s a tad bit of a drive for me but so so worth it! My first time in I decided to be safe and go with a more basic grilled cheese so I got the creamy tomato soup and the Tom and chee sandwich – it was good, basic, but good. Last night was our second time in and this time we decided to branch out a little more. I got the Mac and cheese with bacon grilled cheese – delish!!(especially with a little cholula) I also had to get one of their fancy donut grilled cheeses. My boyfriend and I shared the classic donut with cheddar grilled cheese and it was surprisingly delicious. I was almost upset that I had to share. We will be back… Frequently. ;)

There is no one on this earth that loves cheese as much as I do. I know it’s a bold statement, but I proudly eat shredded cheese out of the bag daily. I’m a devoted cheese aficionado. With that in mind, I walked into Tom and Chee like a little kid walking into Disney World for the first time. I ordered the Choco Bacon Bliss(grilled cheese donut), the BLT + chee(which had more lettuce on it than anything else), and the make-your-own-chee. Sadly the best thing I ate was the donut, just because it was one of those artery clogging experiences that everyone needs once in a while. But with the other grilled cheeses? I had to convince myself that what I was eating was in fact a grilled cheese, and not a sandwich with a bit of cheese on it. If it’s going to be grilled cheese, it better have a hefty amount of cheese on it. And it better leak out on the sides to achieve that good old buttery, crispy goodness. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen here. The one good thing that I noticed was that they have a gluten free option that’s no extra charge. So I appreciate that addition to consider those with wheat or gluten intolerances.

They have perfectly cooked grilled cheese sandwiches. The goat cheese salad is a tasty blend of lettuce, nuts, cranberries complemented with a light dressing. The classic tomato soup is a perfect of home, needing nothing added to it. The place is kind of to go but they serve you on real dishes and the furniture is comfy. The staff was friendly and the food came out quick. The place is also clean. I recommend this place to any one who wants an at home tomato and grilled cheese meal.

Ewwww. I was expecting so much more. Soup tasted like it’s out a can… got a crunchy grilled cheese… the onion things were mushy, and the sandwich was crazy greasy. $ 11 for a grilled cheese and cup of soup, no drink. Really. If this wasn’t a birthday lunch, I never would have come… and I probably won’t again. I made a better grilled cheese when I was 8.

I love google maps! Just ask«nearby restaurants» when you are lost and bam! Always have good suggestions! That’s how I found this place. I stopped by this week to grab a quick bite. I was really in a hurry and despite the line, was helped right away. Things move fast here! I got a basic sandwich, wich cheese and ham and tomatoes. Gotta tell you., the cheese is really melted, much better than mine… Big sandwich, they do not go cheap on the fillings. Many options on the menu I just think it’s little overpriced. The restaurant is modern and clean, with an open kitchen. And they are fast, did I say that already, right? If you are in the area, great option for a business lunch.

This is not gourmet dining, folks — just fun and decadent comfort food! Having eaten in independent grilled cheese joints in Paris, France and Winter Park, Floria this is actually nice to see someone succeed with a fun franchise concept. At lunch we had to wait to find a table, with the cause being too many 4-seater tables with only 2 people sitting there with their meals and belongings spread out. Solution: please supply more of the 2-seater tables to handle the big lunch crowd that will fuel this place for years! Food was delicious and fresh — both the grilled cheese and the soup! We will return to try another crazy combo…

Yum x 383372728293 We saw this on «Shark Tank» and I had been dying to try some amazing grilled cheese so when I saw this opened near us I was on it. I ordered the regular tom and Chee and classic tomato soup. The sandwich was amazingly gooey with cheese and the soup was so good with spices and chunks of Tomato. I was a bad girl and ordered a second sandwich… If you like guacamole I totally recommend the long horn. It has meat cheese and guacamole and it’s the best thing in your mouth. Soooooooo good. I am already trying to think of a time I’ll be near there again to eat!!!

AVOID — LOUSYCUSTOMERSERVICEANDSPOILEDCHEESE,(strong moldy apple flavor means the fresh mozzarella is off). SEEUPDATE from next day, below. Why risk the aggravation of dealing with these folks when you can make better grilled cheese sandwiches at home? Of our 4 sandwiches, 2 were made correctly. The Pesto-Turkey and Ham-Chee were very good, nice and melty. These were the lucky diners in our group. For the unlucky ones: Their signature sandwich The Tom-Chee with added pickles arrived without pickles. When I took it back, I was offered a ramekin of cold pickles to put on myself. TIP: giving your customer a ramekin of cold pickles for them to put on their own hot grilled cheese is NOTANACCEPTABLEFIX. Grudgingly they made me a new one. This time mine came out correctly. Shortly thereafter, our daughter who ordered the Build Your Own grilled cheese took a bite — and YUCK! What’s that awful strong moldy apple flavor? I tasted the cheese too — DOUBLEYUCK! 2 years at Pizza Hut taught me that flavor: spoiled mozzarella. There’s nothing like it. Additionally, staff had never brought her the soup we ordered. The customer service level here LEAVESSOMUCHTOBEDESIRED. Staff could not/would not accept that the sandwich was made with spoiled cheese. After we told them he cheese was off, over the course of a two conversations over 15 minutes(!), the same staff member variously told us: (1) that the cheese was Swiss cheese, not spoiled cheese(still a mistake if Swiss, BUT Swiss doesn’t come in medallions, it comes in a slice so this wasn’t Swiss), (2) that the strong flavor of the sandwich was due to the mustard on it(there was no mustard in the sandwich), (3) that the flavor was of grilled mushrooms(REALLY? Moldy apple flavored white mushrooms?) and FINALLY (4) that their fresh mozzarella has a different flavor that we might not be used to(translation: you’re wrong and don’t know about cheese). Frankly, this last argument makes us wonder if their customers get used to the strong and unpleasant flavor of moldy apples, when fresh mozzarella should have a clean flavor tasting of sweet cream. The point of all these staff arguments seemed to be to make us give up and say«ok we’ll shut up and eat it.» No chance. They finally made us another sandwich, one without any mozzarella. This one was pretty good, but we sure worked hard for it. After I told staff that I had worked at Pizza Hut and I knew wonky mozzarella when I smelled and tasted it, they made their last argument: (5) it’s not spoiled because we just got it yesterday. HIGHLYDOUBTFUL, but if true, they got spoiled mozzarella, and didn’t check the shipment. They also would not taste or smell the cheese they served us. I asked them to please check their fresh mozzarella, and the team member said she’d «check the dates but the cheese came in yesterday and it’s fine.» Refunds? Not offered and not requested at the restaurant — NOTEVENFORTHECOSTOFTHESPOILEDCHEESETHATCOSTUSANEXTRA $ 1, and that we DIDNOTGET on the remade sandwich. We saw the manager eyeing us and looking away quickly and ducking back into the back of the kitchen when I looked over. Definitely customer-service avoidant. He didn’t want to deal with us, and even though we are not angry people, I knew by looking at him that it was a waste of my time to continue the fight there. So we just left, but will follow up with hopefully responsible managers up the chain. If you’re counting– that’s 2 mistakes(no pickles and a forgotten dipper of soup) and 1 food fail(spoiled cheese) in 4 orders. AND defensive LOUSY customer service. Which is worse? Can’t decide. Not great for a place open as long as this place has been — I’d give zero stars if I could. UPDATE8 Jan 16: I had two messages over the Unilocal app from the owners the next morning, apologizing for our experience and asking me to call. I had already called The GM of the restaurant, who quickly offered me a refund or free meal(I chose refund). We had a good discussion about the fresh mozzarella, which the owner had already pulled off the menu for the day. The owner told me that the fresh mozzarella would be completely off the menu forever in 2 weeks(he got permission from corporate to change the menu). So — in 2 weeks the risk of spoiled fresh mozzarella will be eliminated forever! YAYYYY The owner and manager processed my refund quickly, then gave me a gift certificate of a high enough value to bring my family back for free. They also told me what future customer-service training was planned and what training had already been done to improve the response of the young manager(of the 5 arguments) who dealt with us. We very well may come back in a few weeks. Five stars for customer service at the GM and owner level.

Great grilled cheese joint. While I was tying to figure out what to order, the manager came up to me and ask if had any questions. Thought that was nice of him. I had the flying pig, turkey with bacon. So delicious! Using the dill pickle made a big difference when you bite into the sandwich. I love the bread that they use. Crispy on the outside but still soft on the inside. I had the original tomato soup side dipper, which was ok but I like that they gave it as an option instead of getting the whole bowl of soup. Just that it tasted like marinara sauce to me. My son had the kids grilled cheese, which is half of an adult size sandwich, with fruits and a drink. Again, the manager checked up on us and made sure everything was good.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup :) great on any day however this place is so expensive! I ordered a classic grilled cheese and tomato soup and it came out to about 8 $ and I got the water cup. Since I had the classic sandwich and soup I can’t say anything stood out. Maybe next time I go I’ll be a bit adventurous.

I am a huge grilled cheese and tomato soup lover. It’s my go-to food if I’m feeling sick, cold, down or hungry. I wish I’d thought of opening Tom+Chee. I met up with a friend at the new Tom+Chee in the DFW metroplex. It’s tucked away in the new Cityline development in Richardson. I drove around the entire development before I figured out how to get to the restaurant — save yourself some time and gas by turning in on State Street. Free 2-hour parking is available on the street or you can park in one of the many parking garages on the property(there are plenty of visitor spaces). The menu offers a huge variety of choice, from your plain grilled cheese to meat-and-cheese options. Or you can create your own sandwich, which is pretty awesome. You also have choice when it comes to soup — there are multiple types of tomato and non-tomato soup to enjoy. I ordered a shroom and swiss, with a cup of regular tomato soup. The sandwich came on pumpernickel bread with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms and swiss cheese. I was a latchkey kid growing up, and grilled cheese was one of the few«fancy» snacks I was allowed to make at home alone. My approved to cook alone version was three thin slices of longhorn-style Colby jack, tucked inside two pieces of toasted bread, microwaved for 25 seconds or until the cheese was melty. It’s important to share that because it tells you a lot about how I like a grilled cheese — melty, but not greasy. I found Tom+Chee’s sandwich to be slightly greasier than I prefer. Lots and lots of napkins and finger wiping required. The lesson learned for me is that when I go back, I’ll tell them not to butter/oil my bread or the griddle. Or maybe I’ll tell them to do half as much as they normally do as a test. Either will get the sandwich closer to what I’m used to after X(way too many to put in writing) years of eating grilled cheese sandwiches. The soup was really yum. Very tomato-ey in flavor — so good. It wasn’t my standby of Campbell’s tomato prepared with a can of skim milk, but I liked it a lot. I’d definitely order it again and a cup was the perfect size to enjoy with my sandwich. The space is super fun — bright yellow and red, with lots of seating options from 2 and 4-tops to a bar that looks out onto the street. Perfect for when you want to eat alone and check Facebook. Orders are delivered to your table. Drinks are self serve and are the standard soda-water-tea…but they do have a bowl of fresh lemon slices. Great touch. Napkins, if you need them(you’ll definitely need them) are all at the drink station, so get what you need before you head to your table.

I ordered the grilled cheese donut since the rest of the menu didn’t seem to be that appealing, having been to The Daily Melt, Ms. Cheezious, and New York Grilled Cheese Co. — all of which makes excellent grilled cheese sandwiches. So I figured I would try something different. But the problem is this: the grilled cheese doughnut is far more savory than sweet — which defeats the purpose of ordering a sandwich with doughnut in the first place. And I ordered the bananarama version, which includes caramelized bananas and smoked gouda — and nope, even the caramelized bananas did not make it any sweeter. So unfortunately, overall, this place was a flop. And then I figured out why — it’s a chain, and a big one. Didn’t know until I looked into their website. The other places I had been to for grilled cheese concotions were all local places that were serious about the flavor profile of grilled cheese sandwiches(as they should be — or otherwise, I’d just make it at home). NOTE: The donut was cut in half and then the filling goes in between. But the donuts are grilled first inside, which changes the flavor of the donut itself. But I’m no expert on this matter since this was after all, the first time I had a donut sandwich. But the flavor is just not worth the price and extra calories.

This little grilled cheese chain is a welcome addition to the metro area! I heard about it coming to town because I frequently google search for cheese related dining options in Dallas and the announcement for its impending arrival made me so excited because it combines two things that I love! Finally managed to stop by to pick up dinner on an early Friday evening. There were a couple parties in the restaurant and no line to order. Two cashiers, one greeted me and asked what I wanted as soon as I walked in. Slow your roll, missy, I’m indecisive. I ordered«The Tom + Chee» which is a normal grilled cheese + chopped tomatoes + garlic. Oh lord, the garlic. My car reeked for a day of garlic, which despite the smell, still did not taste too garlicky. Despite taking it to go, we expected the sandwich to at least be a little warm, but it was downright cold and the tomatoes were cold and made the sandwich a little soggy. We also split a classic donut grilled cheese which might be my new favorite thing and I will probably try to make my own. Will donuts ruin a George Foreman grill? But it looked like it’d been thrown in the box and since the box was SO big, it just slid apart. Speaking of, The packaging is not very eco-friendly in that the boxes are huge for the sandwiches, which was a little annoying. Both sandwiches together were about $ 10 total, but not very filling for 2 people; I would expect some chips or something for a basic grilled cheese. The menu had some interesting options, but hard to be adventurous for a $ 6 grilled cheese; maybe just some inspiration to make my own. We did not get the tomato soup since we had some at home, but they had 3 different types. Wish they’d given samples! But, it tasted good overall, and I might return if I were in the area. Maybe to get the soup this time!

What a strange concept! But it seems to work, this place is busy on a Friday evening, in a place I never suspected. It’s in the new State Farm complex, and you would never see it from the road. I had some delicious bacon chicken soup, and followed up with a Choco Bacon Bliss grilled cheese donut. It probably should be illegal to eat one of those by yourself. Really. Huge fan in the dining area might need to be set to super slow. I have yet to try a real grilled cheese, the Choco Bacon Bliss is more of a desert. Lively place. Quite loud inside.

Fabulous Grilled Cheese!!! It’s very casual and reasonably priced… I would go back, I wished they had one closer to my house. I had the crunchy pesto chicken and original grilled cheese, however the crunchy needs more CRUNCH!!! … I also had the King donut and plan grilled donut… I honestly liked the original grilled cheese donut and sandwich. I will go back and try more variations of grilled cheese sandwiches… I will ask for more crunch in the future.

This pains me to write. I’ve wanted to try Tom + Chee for a while since I first heard of it on Shark Tank, and it definitely did not meet my expectations. It’s new and I went at lunch time on a Friday, so there was a line curved past the door. And only one cashier a majority of the time. Slow slow slow. By the time our food arrived to us(it took maybe 10 min) it was already getting cold. We ordered a Flying Pig, Grilled Mac + Chee, and classic grilled cheese donut. The flying pig only had 2 slices of cheese which wasn’t nearly enough for the amount of dry, roasted turkey and bacon on the sandwich. It shouldn’t even be considered a grilled cheese. The pickles are the only thing that saved it from being too dry to eat. The Grilled Mac + Chee was the biggest let down. One or two slices of cheese that weren’t even melty anymore, and a square chunk of mac & cheese that was ½ the size of the bread. It seriously looked like it had been sitting there all day. The only saving grace was the donut grilled cheese which had an interesting sweet/cheesy/buttery taste to it. However, it was much smaller than expected. Since I was so hopeful about this place, I might give it one more try, but as of right now I unfortunately don’t have anything to brag on them about.
