The food was very good. The best part of my dinner was listening to a group of people who obviously enjoyed trying out cuisine from different parts of the world. Very good prices for the quality of the food. Well worth a visit.

Probably the best paper dosa I’ve ever had. The service was great. The only problem is that it’s a little dumpy. The hallway to the bathroom and the bathroom are trashy and the overall ambiance is not that great. There are hand written signs taped to the walls haphazardly. It’s not someplace I’d want to go back to and since dosas don’t travel well you can’t really get it to go.

I thought this place was excellent! It will now be one of my more regular spots. I had thought Madras Pavillion was the best. Wrong! Udipi’s is amazing, hot, fresh, and flavorful. They had some of the best potato pakoras I’ve had in my life.(And potato pakoras are rarely something to write home about!) The rasam and sambar are perfect. Udipi’s always has a variety of good vegetable dishes and vadas and all kinds of yummy and fresh chutneys. Their desserts, however, were only mediocre. But everything else is so good that I don’t think weak desserts takes them down a whole star.

We walked in and were immediately seated. The food was all excellent, and I mean all of it. Of the seven or so dishes I tried(they had a buffet) there wasn’t a single bite that I didn’t enjoy. The waitstaff was courteous and attentive, but what sealed the deal for me was their vegan options; of everything in the buffet there were only three or four dishes that had dairy. When I asked which food was vegan-friendly I was guided through the buffet line where the staff pointed out to me exactly what was and wasn’t vegan. Incredibly helpful staff and terrific food.

Went here with family for the first time for their lunch buffet on a weekday. The spread was good particularly when coupled with freshly made Masala Dosa chosen right from their Dosa menu. Loved it! The reason this place deserves a 5 star are many — First, I loved the fact that every thing I tasted on the spread carried its own unique flavors. It was certainly not a case of chef using the same combination of spices and cooking techniques for vastly different foods, which usually happens with mass cooking for buffets. True to their name they had many South Indian dishes on their spread. Not only the common South Indian fare such as Idlis, Vadas, Sambar, Rasam, Curd Rice, etc. but also not so regularly available South Indian — I was glad to see Puri and Poriyal for instance. Second, the service was good. They refilled our water glasses without having to ask, which if you are a regular patron of buffet around the towns, would know is a lot to ask for a reason unknown to me. Third, the restaurant was reasonably clean and the atmosphere was cozy; perfect to sit down with your kids and have a nice buffet meal at an Indian restaurant without getting distracted by loud music or child unfriendly TV(which, gladly, they don’t have :-)). Add the above three to the fact that buffet costs just 8.99USD(at least on a weekday; not sure of their weekend prices). Great value for money is what I say! Will definitely go there again, without a doubt…

First time eating at Udipi Café and I will definitely be back. Ate there early on a Sunday for dinner(around 430) so it was pretty quiet. The staff welcomed us with some free soup which was delicious and had a good lingering spice to it. Great choice on the menu — I ordered the Malai Kofta which was mild and had very very little but the sauce was fragrant and creamy and the dumplings were yummy. Served with rice and pickles(Indian pickles are a mix of onion, veg and chilli — hot and spicy so hubby loved it). Service was good — staff were friendly. As a Brit who loves a good curry this was definitely the best I’ve had since moving to Texas.

I had my first experience with south Indian food in the curry-hued walls of Udipi Café. Deluxe uttappam was delicious, with nice sauces to accompany. Panak paneer(spinach and cheese) is really really nice. Don’t miss the amazing paper dhosa, which comes on a large platter and has potato mash in the center and comes accompanied with yummy tomato, mint cucumber and spicy sauces. If you are a vegetarian, you will love this place. If you are trying to avoid carby food, skip it.

Was visiting Dallas to drop off a colleague at the airport! After dropping him off, decided to give this restaurant a try for the craving of the traditional udipi food! Being raised in Mumbai, India, this type of food is staple part of our diet and dosa is one of my favorite dishes in this type of cuisine. Looking at the reviews, gave this restaurant a try. Overall, i generously gave it a three star. I’ve tried dosa in almost every city i’ve visited in US but this place’s dosa didnt come close to being the one of the most favorite places i’ve tried a «Masala Dosa». The flavor to the sambar and chutney which accompanies the dosa didnt make up to the lack of flavor in dosa. I also ordered a «palak paneer» with some parothas and had requested it to be brought after i devoured the dosa but it ended up being brought out all together. By the time i finished the dosa, the parothas had already hardened(frisbee stage) and the entrée cooled down. The flavor to the«Palak paneer» missed the mark and i would hope so since it is a north indian staple and this restaurant was south-based cuisine. The service could take a major revamp at this place. A bit more personable(although they never asked me how the food was) towards new patrons and not just regular patrons would seal the deal. Being a part of hospitality, great service definitely suffices the lack of other elements like food or ambience or etc. etc. I wish i could’ve had a better experience since this being the first trip to Dallas. Probably, won’t be back. Maybe it was just my personal experience but y’all definitely read overall reviews before you give it a try. I was a bit misguided.

Fresh South Indian food. My friend ordered onion masala dosa, while I had the rava masala dosa. We both ordered the masala soda(drink), which came recommended from their staff(pls skip it!) The food and condiments were flavorful. We enjoyed our meal.

An Indian vegetarian restaurant should properly have a large buffet teeming with tasty options, and this restaurant succeeds with flying colors. All food(and we arrived late in the afternoon was fresh and well-presented. The mango lassi is as good as any we’ve had. One of our party said it is the best Indian food she’d ever had, and its excellence is hard to dispute. The desserts are also slightly different but highly enjoyable. Service is lackluster, the(scrumptious) dosas offered are not part of the buffet and their inclusion on the tab was a rude surprise. Water is served room temperature, strange on a July day. Décor is uninteresting; bathroom clean but shabby; entrance walls littered with junk and two notices about their right«to refuse service to anyone» among other unwelcoming detritus. Keep the cooks, retrain the wait staff and smooth out the aesthetic disappointments and this place could easily earn five stars.

Delicious!!! Huge dosas, chana masala was amazingly good, paneer was the perfect texture, medium spice was actually medium.(not mild). Kid friendly atmosphere and many dishes were able to be prepared vegan. note: no naan

This place is to South Indian Cuisine as Taco Bell is to authentic Mexican cuisine. There are remnants of south Indian flavors in the food served, but the authentic flavor and freshness just isn’t there. And, it is way wayyyy too expensive for what it is. Some may say that I’m too picky because I“m South Indian, but this place just isn’t cutting it for me. I went once and did not return.

I’ve been to this local eatery on three occasions. Each time I was overwhelmed with the variety of flavors of the authentic Indian food. The all-you-can-eat lunch buffet is nirvana!

This place has been my brunch spot for a while now. I visit this place at least on three of the four weekends of a month. And, every time it has been a good experience. The buffet is great, they serve both South Indian and North Indian items(limited). For all the South Indians, I must say, try out the poori and idlis, they are the best I have had in Texas. The paneer mutter masala has been my favorite, the quality of paneer they use is so damn good! Maahn! The buffet includes dosa of your choice. Coming to the desert, they usually serve Gajjar ka Halwa(Smashed Carrot Sweet) and Keer. If you are lucky, they include Rice Pudding too. I only try the Gajjar ka Halwa as I’m not a fan of sweet dishes. For a $ 12, the quality and quantity of food you get is worth the money. This restaurant is the first place that comes to my mind when I think about having a brunch. You gotta try it out!

Udipi Café has delicious vegetarian indian food. We had the assorted appetizer sampler platter that included Vegetable Samosa, Vegetable Cutlet & Pakora. Our main courses were Navarattan Koorma and Mushroom Masala both were Authentic Southern Indian Cuisine. The customer service was excellent. The prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere was genuine We will definitely come back to try the buffet. My guest and I give them(4) Stars
