The best punjabi food in DFW area. We had saag paneer, chicken balti, parathas and the taste was as authentic as in real Punjab.

Like other reviewers have mentioned, the food here is authentic Punjabi North Indian food. There is only one guy in the whole store and restaurant. I would not make light of this to him. He is just a bit stern. My father is very similar. The restaurant is typical home in the wall, nothing fancy. I had the Saag Paneer and Chana, with Roti. The proportions are good for the price. This is the best authentic North Indian food I have had outside of my own mothers cooking — and she is a very good cook. The flavors and spice level were perfect, it maybe a tad spicy if you don’t like spice, but it was the same level we always had growing up. I will be going back regularly.

Very good north indian food. This place looks littlebit odd if you compare with other Indian restaurants in Dallas area but dont get fooled by looks. Owner is one man army who runs everything from making food to handling counter. There naan is always fresh. Price is very reasonable.

I normally don’t really give reviews. So the fact that I m giving one says it all. If you want to get a taste of typical north indian food prepared in north indian households and value for money this is the place to go. I almost felt I am eating home. The owner is so friendly and nice and that niceness shows in the food. I highly recommend Chicken Balti and Sarson da Saag I am not a fan of cream being added to curries. The curries are rich and flavorful without any cream into it(unlike most restaurants). I recommend to take the order home and enjoy with a glass of wine. Simple good food!

This place has become a weekly go-to for me. So far I’ve tried the tarka dal, and paneer and chana masalas — they’re all delicious! This place is a one-man restaurant/grocery/video rental store. He’s really friendly, but I always call ahead: if he has other customers, I might be waiting for a bit. Anyways, if you like Indian food, you need to try this place at least once.

The food was good, but that was about the only good thing. The place is inside a grocery store and they play irritating movie trailers(on repeat). We found the prices a little too high given the quality, quantity and ambience. I don’t think we’ll go here again.

The food is very good. Yes, the owner is very rude and could not care less about any special requests or questions. The quality of the food commands real plates and silverware but you will have to live with styrofoam and plastic unless you do take-out. My GF and I refer to the place as «Nazi Indian take-out». Having said all that, I eat there very often… it is what it is.

Food was good in buffet. However, the condition of the restaurant and store is outright awful. As mentioned in other reviews, there’s only one person who manages the restaurant and store. SINGLEPERSON in entire joint. Therefore, you can imagine how much one person can do. Will never visit again!!!

A friend of mine introduced me to this place. This place serves the best north indian food I have tasted so far in Dallas. The place doesn’t score points on ambience but it covers it all in taste. I tried mutton masala, chicken balti, mutton biryani, naan and Tandoori roti. Must say all of these exceeded my expectations. It’s worth the money spent. Excellent food.

Place: The place is located kinda off the beaten path/hole in the wall strip mall. It has that dollar tree/family dollar feel with abundant florescent lights but dinning area looks clean and they have A rating on cleanliness from the city. So I don’t care about the ambience. Service: Service is ok. Ask what you want. keep it short and get your food. eat in or take out. I would say take out is the best option. This place is run by just one person staff, so be patient and have enough time on your hand. It is well worth the wait. if you are in a hurry go to Bawarchi or other indian places for mediocre tasting food. Food: Here is the best part… I ordered Panner tikka masala, the dish I normally judge an indian restaurant by and it was delicious. Really tasty and balanced on spice level. Panner was soft and sauce was smooth and flavorful. The naan was thick and well cooked which is surprisingly great because most of the time cooks mess it up when the naan is that thick. So would I came back here again? Yes of course for the food. I think it well worth it.

This place is seriously amazing. Great food for a great price with an absolutely caring cook. He’ll make you anything you want if you ask for it. Don’t listen to any a-holes that say he’s rude.

If you looking for real Punjabi(North Indian) home style and amazing food, this is the place to visit. Don’t expect some overwhelmed service or some lavishly huge menu during lunch buffet, but each and every dish is delicious. The chicken curry is one of the must try dishes with slow cooked and perfectly done tender chicken. Please note all the dishes is cooked by just one person who manages the grocery store and also is the cashier, but he’ll make sure to cook dishes perfectly and in doing so it might take some time. So be prepared to have some patience at times during busy hours. Overall must must try if you want to try some delicious food.

Even if you don’t see any one inside don’t hesitate to go in. It’s a nice place and the buffet is a great deal. The food is good, I was not sure whether I should dine in or not when I went inside since except the owner nobody was there. The owner is a nice guy, he was good to me.

Food is good for the price, but the owner is a total jerk. Doesn’t know how to talk to customers. When I asked him if everything in the menu was available, he started to argue with me telling why did I ask this question and if I could eat the whole menu. When i asked him how long has been in the US for long, he replied saying he didnot know why desi’s ask stupid questions. Also started telling all desi people are uncivilized. I walked out without arguing as I donot fall to the level of such pig-headed people. There are better places where people know how to talk to customer. If you can’t respect people from your own country, I am glad you are settled here you rot.

As other reviews mentioned, one Sikh guy does everything from cooking to serving to settling bills for both the restaurant and the grocery store. However, I was the only customer for the entire hour I was there, so I didn’t have to wait too much at any point. The disposable utensils are a put-off, but I ordered Paneer tikka(on the Sikh guy’s recommendation), and it was good. I didn’t have to bother deciding on the spice level like at other Indian restaurants, it was just correct for me(although I suspect it’d be a bit too spicy for customers not used to Indian food). Located inside an Indian grocery store(Bollywood Grocery), so you can do your shopping after you’re finished dining. It was open till 10 pm, when I went on a Wednesday, which is a plus. I’d try it again.

I regret that I’ve not been able to return to this place in over a year. The reason is that I got sick after eating there, and I’m fairly certain that the buffet was the reason, since my friend who ate with me that day got sick, too. Although I grew to like the owner, he’s a bit stubborn about his ability to be not only the chef, but the server and cashier for both the restaurant and the grocery store. I know the business doesn’t get near the traffic it used to, and that hurts his ability to hire decent help. Unfortunately, something has to give, as one person can’t do everything… and I feel it is freshness and cleanliness. It’s a pity, as I really enjoyed eating there many, many times… it’s just hard to return to a place you feel made you ill. If anyone has info that things have changed significantly at Punjabi Dhaba, feel free to let me know!

Punjabi Dhaba is inside the Bollywood market. One guy runs the entire place — owner /chef /cashier for the market and restaurant. I came for lunch to try the $ 6.99 lunch buffet. It’s completely self-serve with Styrofoam plates/cups and plasticware. There were 4 veggie(lentil soap, curried mixed veg, creamy peas, a saag paneer) and 2 meat selections(mutton vindaloo and chicken tikka), rice, naan, and a rice pudding dessert. We had a group of 5 so the guy brought us a bowl of fresh naan to welcome us. I thought all the dishes were authentic and delicious with a wholesome home-cooked taste. I had seconds of everything. This place will definitely be in my regular rotation. Update: I’ve been here 6 times in the last couple months. It’s somewhat inconsistent compared to other buffets. Half the time it’s great and other times it’s just okay with some items tasting like old left-overs. I’d say it’s recommended with reservations.
