I love this place. They have the beat damn peas I have ever eaten. And I have eaten a lot of peas in my life.

Worst service. Bartenders and wait staff were awful after my group spent so much money and time there. Two years in a row. Will NEVER go back there. Just awful.

Service is good and the food is good. The cottage fries are awesome. The bar is fully stocked. I only gave 4 stars because with all that it’s still a bit pricy.

I love this Tavern! No matter who I take here, everyone loves it! The crab cake and jalapeño poppers are my favorite apps! Their desserts are homemade and AMAZING! Try the carrot cake or banana/blueberry pie. Their atmosphere is always so cozy! Nice place for happy hour!

Have I really never written a review for this place? Ah well, no time like the present. This place is really right around the corner from my office, so we lunch there when we feel like spending $ 15 on a salad or sandwich. The food here is really pretty good. I very much enjoy the«Waldorf» salad with chicken, which isn’t a Waldorf at all, but very nice. It does have apples in it, which I guess is why they think it’s okay to call it a Waldorf, but that’s where the similarity ends. It has pecans, dried cranberries, apples and a house vinaigrette. Last time I ordered it I forgot to tell them to serve the dressing on the side and it was pretty over dressed for my tastes. Other tasty and less healthful things I’ve tried are the fish and chips, the prime rib sandwich and the trout. Okay, I suppose the fish is not bad for me, but the mashed potatoes and peas are definitely not part of a low carb meal plan. :) Service is always friendly and fast. Oh, tasty martinis also. Not that I would ever have one at lunch…

It doesn’t look very British, but the people are very friendly — beautiful bar. All their food is great, but their banana cream pie will keep you coming back!!!

I can always count on a good meal from the tavern. Good food. Nice atmosphere. The mozzarella sticks are to die for and I love the chips. Only downside are the prices. I don’t think they quite match the quality of the food.

Always a great meal. John the owner is a class act. Always wandering the tables making sure everyone enjoys their meals as well as running the kitchen when needed on a busy night. Prime rib is their specialty but don’t forgot about the rest of the menu. My favorite by far is the short ribs with mashed potatoes. Cooked in Guinness all day… melt in your mouth delicious. Also as an app get the fried cheese sticks. Fresh mozz that he batters and is fried. Also best dessert in town-banana cream pie… You’re welcome.

Where do I start?! This little gem is tucked behind the«BIG» steakhouse on the George Bush Turnpike at Jupiter in Richardson. I say bypass the pretentious big boy upfront and head to The Shire. First of all, the service was fantastic. Everyone was personable– the server was attentive and friendly and also very patient as we chatted over drinks for quite some time before placing our order. The owner came by our table to share with us the day’s specials and to introduce himself. He was also very friendly and we enjoyed meeting him. The bartender had a free moment and he stopped by to make sure our drinks were to our liking. We finally placed our order and it was brought to us in a timely manner. Every dish was cooked to perfection and very flavorful; the asparagus was the most tender I’ve ever had. The presentation on our plates was very attractive and the atmosphere quite pleasant(we sat on the patio). I heard the owner is also the Chef and his wife is often there helping him. They are Jon and Lindsay Barrilleaux. If you’re looking for a romantic evening out, a place to watch your favorite game(I noticed big screens over the bar), or you’d like to grab a drink and enjoy a cigar on the patio, try Ye Shire in Richardson.

Used to work right upstairs of this bar/restaurant; good place to have lunch even though it’s leaning towards the expensive side; Always check for their specials that aren’t on the menu and give those a try. You won’t regret it

My first visit was lunch and they would get five stars, but I would need to try more than a burger and cottage fries at a place that is not a burger joint before I award that fifth star. With that said I loved the burger and the cottage fries were perfection in the form of cottage fries and I loved the seasoning on them too, which of course added to the perfection. The burger was fresh Angus beef and you can tell it is fresh! I am not a fan of frozen hamburger meat. The fries were freshly cut which is a huge bonus to me as I am watching my salt intake. They do not provide wifi, but I noticed that before we made our way to a private room in the back that I could pick up a decent wifi signal from another place across from Ye Shire. Once I was out of the main dining room I lost the signal. They also had a decent size bar, that I may have to check out one evening. The walls were adorned with predominantly English art and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the servers all seemed very friendly and greeted us as we passed them on the way in and out. Mary was our server and she was as attentive as they come without hovering or being anywhere close to an annoyance. She never let my tea get empty and that will always earn a little extra incentive to tip well. She received over 30 percent, but remember the bill was just over ten dollars. I’m not that much of a big spender! I will return for lunch or dinner soon. Surely that is the best compliment you can give a restaurant. Watch for that fifth star as I anticipate a delicious second go ’round.

Not what I expected at all. Was thinking it would be more English pub in terms of food and ambiance. Inside, it was dark(in a classy way) and refined. The tables in the main area were really close together. We were seated in the back room which was more spacious, but had we been up front I would have been a a bit uncomfortable with the seating arrangements. Food was more traditional American lunch fare than pub(burgers, salads, etc) and was a bit on the high side price-wise(menu is online). They did have fish and chips, but lunch pricing was over $ 15. Yikes! Serving sizes were adequate but not a high value proposition. Food was prepared properly, but I do not see the difference in price matching the difference in quality compared to chain casual American dining. Waitress was outstanding. Drink refills were there before the glass was empty, and she checked on us regularly without being bothersome.

Came here with a party of 14 for lunch. The service was great, the food was even better and we loved the décor. I tried the blue cheese chips and ham sandwich which were both amaze. Other popular items were fish and chips and open face beef sandwich. Highly recommend!!!

FANTASTICMOZZSTICKS. Get them. You’re welcome. The cheese sticks would bring my review up to 3 stars, but weird service brought it back down. As for the main course, I’ve tried the prime rib sandwich and the open faced beef(sliced prime rib on a piece of bread). Both left MUCH to be desired in terms of flavor. I hate that the meat is sliced so thin and is also drenched in gravy. I would definitely ask for gravy on the side. The fries were good, though. They were cut into little pickle shape ovals and were nice and crispy. The atmosphere on any given evening is pretty mature. Both times we’ve eaten here the average age was around 60. The latest visit had live music, who actually sounded amazing. She sang and played the electric piano. The service was spotty, and the first guy to seat us was pretty unprofessional. We were rarely checked on, but no big deal since we had nothing to complain about. I’ve had much better prime rib, so I wouldn’t recommend ordering it here. I also snuck a peek at the lady next to us who ordered the shrimp scampi over pasta(since I was debating ordering that), and it looked like a sad, flavorless bowl of pasta you could get at Olive Garden for half the price. I didn’t taste it, obviously, but just had to note. You eat with your eyes first anyway!

Nothing too exciting about this place. Like the chairs on wheels in the dinning area. I have one quick request, wish they put together a drink list. Food was very good. Didn’t care for the cottage fries…

I am here for work from Seattle, and had a few hours to kill between meetings. They have free Wi-Fi, which is a huge plus. I have noticed that Wi-Fi in Texas restaurants is not common, so it’s nice to have a good connection. I ate lunch, and the food was very good. Gotta admit, my expectations were pretty low; this area of Texas offers mostly fast food and large chain restaurants, but this place had a several items on the menu that seemed like they might be made right here in this restaurant… GASP! Everything was fresh, and service was good. The only thing that would make this spot a little better, are beers and sodas on tap. I will come back next time I am in town.

Our office had a little Happy Hour at this place, outside on a rare, pleasant Plano evening. This review is for the service and the appetizers since I did not have any beer or the standard dinner items. Fried Mozzarella sticks here don’t look like any I’ve ever seen. Thick and chunky, with a very light batter instead of thickly breaded(as per usual), these are terrific, with two sauces(my fav was the chunky tomato marinara). They have these blue cheese chunk covered thick-sliced warm potato chips that you must try in order to expand that ever-widening waistline. Finally, they had Deviled Eggs. «WHAT?» Deviled Eggs. «No! Really?» I telling you Real honest-to-goodness Deviled Eggs piled high with excellent classic flavor. What a nice change. We were all very pleased with service and our time there and would recommend it again.
