Ralph’s Shoe Service

Nice little shop. They helped repair my old backpack, which was literally coming apart at the seems. It’s was $ 23 to fix the backpack, but it was almost $ 50 new. So, I’m okay with the price to fix it. The fix was really well done. You couldn’t really even tell from the outside that anything ever was messed up. You could see that patch on the inside, but who cares. The fix looked pretty well done, so I imagine it will hold for a while.
Update 6÷7÷16
Used fixed backpack for an entire month while in Europe. If performed amazingly well. I had it filled with a ton pf very heavy crap. The fix job that was done at Ralph’s showed no signs of any deterioration at all. I am very happy that I went here to get my backpack fixed.

Fixed a most beloved tall boot’s zipper slider here for $ 17.50. Beautiful work and quick turnaround (4 days).

I have relied on Ralph’s for more than 30 years. They do great work and you can count on them to be fair and honest every time with everyone. I stopped in yesterday with a broken suitcase handle. In less than 5 minutes it was fixed and he didn’t charge me. Shoes, luggage, bags, whatever you need they will fix for a fair price, with a smile. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

The guy that works there is very rude. I went in and was looking for a particular color of shoelace and the guy was just crabby and jerky. He offered to try to get the color in I was looking for but when it was done he didn’t say anything like «Thanks for coming in» or «Stop back in a week» — it was just dead silence. His customer service skills are atrocious.

The work is fine. REALLY EXPENSIVE! He charged me $ 80 per pair to have new soles and heels put on. This is something I am used to paying $ 50 for, and I’ve gone to various other places before.

I remember this place from the old Southdale years. so like to support small businesses… but what ever happened to a shop owner/​employee greeting a customer in a pleasant manner and asking how they can help? Not happening here. Very crabby and unpleasant man chastised me for not knowing how to tie boots properly and offered new laces completely inappropriate for the boots… I was so taken back by his rudeness I gave him the cash for the laces and could not get out fast enough.

Too rich for my blood! Over $ 150 for two new soles and heel pads? Please. I had this same thing done at a store in Bloomington for $ 26 and they did a great job. I’ll be heading to Bloomington for future jobs.
Be sure to ask about pricing first. The guy that works is a little crabby and not the friendliest dude. I’d like to feel a little better about spending that kind of money. Being nice a customer service oriented would make it a little easier.

My daughter had a pair of shoes she loved and literally wore them until the heels fell off. They were pretty beat up but they were expensive and hard to replace so we searched for a shoe repair shop. She found one but they couldn’t salvage the shoes. Then I remembered Ralph’s! They used to be located in Southdale Center but moved to a new location off Crosstown and Penn.
When I picked up the shoes they had new heels and insoles and looked like new. Ralph’s really did come to the rescue! Customer service at times can be a little lacking but they are honest and tell you up front if your shoes are worth repairing or not. Just one tip though… don’t lose that green ticket you fill out when you pay for your shoes. You’ll need it to retrieve your shoes when they’re ready for pick up.
