Preordered a game that released tonight and have gone to this store twice since then to make sure they’d be doing a midnight release for the game. I was last in the store and asked on Saturday the 15th and they confirmed for me again that it would be a midnight release. I got there at 11:15 to be early, and they closed their gates at 11:20something. I walked up to the door and asked if they were not still having their midnight release and the associate told me no, it was at 11. I explained to him that I had been told twice by an employee at that store that it was to be at midnight and asked if there was anything I could do and he told me that they had already closed their registers. I am normally a model customer and rarely complain. I work retail, and have worked in the food industry and I know that sometimes the customer isn’t always right. I’ve had my share of headache customers and ones that have tried to kick in our locked doors after hours. I’m not that person. I’m just highly miffed that after triple checking that it would, in fact, be at midnight, me getting there what I thought was 45 minutes early and ending up being 15 too late is something that could have easily been avoided. I have been following this game for months and preordered practically the day it was made available for preorder and had paid it in full so there’d be no headache for the associate when I finally got my game. I’m just really questioning why even if it was an 11o’clock release that they would close so soon after? And when someone who had preordered walked up as soon as the gates were being drawn would have been turned away since it was still within the hour? Generally it just sucks and I feel this could have been avoided by either A) employees knowing what they’re talking about when it comes to big game releases or B) them being open long enough for people who would have shown up to the 11o’clock release to have been able to make their transactions. If it wasn’t for the fact that I am receiving bonus content for preordering this game, I’d ask for a refund of my order tomorrow and buy it elsewhere. I certainly won’t be preordering/doing business with this particular Gamestop again after this experience.
