We needed a mattress for the guest bedroom.
We didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that would likely be used maybe 30 days out of the year. We’d hit up a bigger mattress store earlier in the day and dealt with their obnoxious high pressure sales pitch and their really limited options in the under $ 300 range. After dealing with that, I was ready to go home and just zip into Portland to go to IKEA and get a mattress, but we stopped in at Mister Mattress as one last ditch effort to get a mattress before Thanksgiving.
Low pressure sales tactics and lower prices awaited us! I told him how much we wanted to spend, he asked if we needed a box spring, pointed out which ones were in our range, and let us know which ones he had in stock. He offered to get it delivered, but ultimately just helped us strap it to the roof of the car.
He was friendly and polite, not pushing us to spend more or attempting to guilt us into buying a more expensive mattress.
