Was so disappointed when I discovered Manila was gone from Kennewick. Great that they moved to Richland. Do patronize this place — food is excellent and well priced. Ambiance is minimal, but you’re probably not going for that. Try the buffet lunches several times a week.

So, this is their new digs(Manila Restaurant used to be in Kennewick, and now it’s called Nany’s Manila Restaurant). They opened up their doors last Nov/Dec ’10 and I dropped by on a snowy December day for lunch. There were a few other patrons there. The dining area looked the same as it did for the previous restaurant(Avalanche restaurant), so they are sticking with the log cabin look. They had a few flat screen TVs showing ESPN. My server was super sweet. She sat me at my table and answered some of my basic questions about their offerings and about the move to the new location. While waiting, I was given a complimentary sausage potato soup. This totally warmed me up from the iciness I trekked through to make it here. For my lunch, I went with the Pork Adobo Combo(with a very YUMMY mango juice). As with my previous experience here, the Adoba was succulent, flavorful, and downright good. So yes, the Tri-Cities is lucky to have some authentic Filipino food, if for only as an option for something different. I do hope Nany makes this location work(I’ve seen two other restaurants die slow deaths here). Give this place your patronage — the Tri-Cities can totally use locally-owned & tasty ethnic restaurants like this!

Closed for good. Too bad, I was hungry for filipino food.

I stopped by Manila for dinner today. I’m from a filipino family and it just sounded so good. Not only did the 3 couples who were eating stare at me awkwardly, I had no idea what to do. There was no sign that told me to seat myself or wait, and there was no one there to greet me. I just wanted something to-go so I waited at the pay counter while looking at the menu. Any normal person would assume I had a question. I stood there for about 5 minutes waiting for someone help me. The lady helping people yelled«Hi!» to me from across the room after about 1 minute, but did not acknowledge me at all the rest of the time. If you are in the service industry, you should at least let someone know that you are planning on helping them instead of just screaming a greeting at them. I have not completely written this restaurant off, but between a bad review from some good friends and this experience, I’m not impressed.

If you haven’t had authentic Filipino food you are seriously missing out. Manila offers a wide variety of all types of Filipino dishes as well as Filipino beers. Try the pancit, lumpia, adobo… really anything on this menu is going to be yummy. The service is fantastic and the staff are very friendly. Prices aren’t bad either!

I think the first time we went was on an off day. Coming from a big city, eating at 7:30 /8pm is common. We now have adjusted to a calmer and easier pace of life… We’ve gone back and i have to say that each time i am more and more impressed. The food has been VERY fresh — delicious crispy vegetables, fresh delicate fish and yummy noodles. Manila restaurant does a lot for the community, they are involved all year round, during fairs, fireworks at the park and in the filipino community. We feel lucky and privileged to have a place where authentic food is served, it’s so affordable for the amount and quality you receive. DON“T PASSITUP — you’ll be missing out on a wonderful epicurean experience!

It was 1986 in a tiny Rhode Island town and there I was sitting on a wicker barstool in a kitchen filled with the best smells a 5th grader could sniff. My friend Nicole’s mom was providing the snacks that were about the only thing that could pull us from her princess-like bedroom, a refuge to hide from her annoying little brother, located in the turret of their 3 story historical home. Food at Nicole’s house was always a treat because her mom was an elegant Filipina who could throw down in the kitchen. Gourmet dinners in my family only happened when Mum got crazy and added breadcrumbs to the baked chicken. *grimace* Let’s just say that whenever I was invited to stay for dinner at the Woodruff household there was an overwhelming YES given without hesitation. Well I probably hesitated for a second as I dreamily remembered the last time she made lumpia and THEN I accepted the invitation with a googley eyed, freckle faced smile. Since that time in my childhood I have neglected to tempt my palette with Filipino cuisine… ENTERMANILA! I didn’t even know the Tri’s had a Filipino restaurant! A friend and I hit up this little gem fairly late one night… about 45 minutes before closing. Even though the buffet was being dismantled, they still greeted us with a smile and served us piling plates of goodness. I had the chicken curry combo plate and slurped my super thin noodles up with abandon. Dang those were good! The chicken curry was tasty as well. The lumpia were the hit of the night for me though. They rivaled the ones I remember Nicole’s mom making… and that’s saying something! I snuck some bites of my friend’s chicken adoba(holy yum!) and will probably get my own serving of that next time. It reminded me of Hawaiian Huli Huli chicken, a fav of mine. While the dining area could use a touch of updating, the service was super friendly and the price was great for the amount of food we received. Neither of us could clean our plates… Without a doubt I will be back and try some other goodies off their menu.

I admit that I don’t have a lot of experience with Filipino food. I do have a lot of experience with FOOD though, and really good food at that :) Manila definitely falls into this category — really, really good food. Their lunch is great, if I get the buffet I’m not always sure what I’m eating, but I don’t care — it’s so, so very good. I’ve had hit and miss service, but nothing so bad as to make me not want to come back. I think the only down side, which is tragic, is that it’s always empty when I’ve been there, and I’m not sure why. They serve great food at affordable prices. GOTOMANILA, CITIZENSOFTC! You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve had my share of great Filipino food. My Fiancé was born in the Philippines & we live in Chicago where there are numerous Filipino resturaunts. The food was pretty tasty, but even more than that is the fact that little old Tri-cities actually HAS a Filipino resturaunt! We were really excited to hear about«Manila» and it’s about time Tri-cities added a little more diversity to their resturaunt scene!

Mmmm I can’t wait. I thought I was the only filipino in this town. Sometimes I feel to lazy to cook my own food. Filipino food rocks!
