My wife took me to Grida’s for my first cheese steak in PA over ten years ago. It was so good I’ve had to visit each time we come back. There aren’t many places left like this so of you get the chance search it out. It is well worth the drive.

The wife and I took a random spur of the moment drive up to Richlandtown. We like driving around and exploring the more rural(translation: more farmland, more heavily-armed) sections of PA. We ended up a bit south of Hellertown and kind of spun in circles. We noticed a soft serve ice cream stand and decided to stop. You really don’t see financially viable small businesses in a reasonably walkable neighborhood in the area anymore. That’s a discussion on city planning we can take elsewhere… Anyway they have at least two dozen flavors of soft ice cream. I was expecting something Sysco-flavored with a bad mechanical aftertaste(think McDonalds soft serve). However I was pleasantly surprised. The mango was mildly flavored and not overly sweet. The peach was a little light on the flavoring but not unpleasant in the least. And I think I paid $ 2 for a huge cup(and I’m not a small person). Doing a little Googling, you’ll find out that they use a pretty interesting multi-flavor soft serve ice cream machine: We are truly living in the future.
