24 Hour Towing

would give no stars if I could! I asked for a quote for a tow out of a mall parking garage. The guy proceeded to ask me questions about the location, etc., and then said he needed a cc for a deposit. ummm wtf, you haven’t even given me a quote. Long story short, he wanted $ 750 to tow my car 15 miles. And then tried to bargain to $ 600. No ma’am, no thanks. I told him I’d have the dealer tow it in the morning because I just got the car a week ago… he argued that the dealership wouldn’t pay for the tow. GUESS WHAT? The dealership paid for the tow, jerk. I hate businesses that try to swindle people when they are in vulnerable positions as it is and try to take advantage. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS.

On Saturday, 11/​7, 12:58am, I called (24 hour tow) at the 650−761−5009, phone number and a female dispatcher answered. I informed her that I needed a tow truck to assist in towing a vehicle parked in my parking spot. The female dispatcher, proceeded to tell me that this was not something their company did and for me to contact my local Police Department.
I hung up and called South San Francisco PD who informed me that my matter was a private property tow was not something they handled and that I should call back the towing company and inform them that this was something SSFPD did not do, and maybe they could help me.
At 1:01am, I called 24 hour Tow back, and, again, spoke to the same female dispatcher. I said, «Hi, I just called in and you told me to call my local PD.» however, before I was able to finish, the female dispatcher cut me off and said, «I told you we don’t do that!» and hung up on me.
I called right back, (1:01am) and again, received the same female dispatcher, whom I asked politely «Please do not hang up on me». I told her I contacted my PD as she advised me to do, but they were not able to assist and I didn’t know what to do, at this point.” The female dispatcher replied with. «Well, I told you we don’t do that.» I asked, «Well, what do you guys do?» She sarcastically replied, «Tow». At this point, I was frustrated and irritated that 24 hour tow, who proudly represents the BBB logo on their website, could treat any customer or caller in such a manner. I was upset, and said a few choice words, that I shouldn’t have, and hang up on the dispatcher.
At 1:03am, I received a call from (925) 206‑1382. I answered, and the same (24 hour tow) female dispatcher whom I’ve been corresponding with, says, «Hello Ma’am, I’m calling to let you know that you’re a stupid fucking bitch» and hung up on me.
The following afternoon 11/​7, (12:23pm), I called back 24 hour tow, and «Nicole» answered. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she stated that she was the supervisor. I asked her if I was able to speak to the owner, and she said that she wanted to know my concern. I told her what had happened that early morning, and she put me on hold. After being on hold for 8 minutes, she got back on the phone and stated that the owner asked that I forward all screenshot images of my phone log to her email. She also stated that all the incoming calls were recorded and that «Marco» who is the owner, would call me. I agreed and hung up. I sent out the email a few minutes later, with the screenshots, as requested, and have not heard back from Marco or anyone from 24 hour tow.

The company, doesn’t even deserve a one star. They took advantage of my daughter who is living out of town. She called to have them come give her a jump start on a dead battery. They arrived and immediately jump started the car, then charge her $ 144.20. Outrageous as he was only there about 10 minutes. The service call was $ 55.00 which seems reasonable but the labor was $ 85.00 for 10 minutes. I wish I could find such an easy job for $ 510.00 per hour.

Terrible. Wishy-​washy on price over the phone and not helpful at all. I made a clear request – how much to come out and jump my car? He just kept saying it depends. I said, I am asking you a clear question… how much do you quote to come *here* to jump my car? He said, over $ 200 and hung up. Incredibly rude.

Do not use this company. Over the phone, we were told that for someone to come out, it’d be a $ 55 charge and that if we didn’t end up needing to be towed, that would be the extent of the cost.
When the gentleman arrived an hour later than specified, we asked that we test the battery before proceeding with the tow. He did not state that a battery jump is any extra cost and we assumed this would fall under the umbrella of the $ 55 service fee, given most tows are between $ 50-​$ 70 total.
After completing the jump which took 10 seconds, he informed us this service is an additional $ 85, bringing the grand total to $ 140… for a jump.
Long story short, they are ridiculously over-​priced and are deceiving when it comes to telling customers about costs up front in order to trick them into paying crazy amounts for small services.

I was charged $ 235 for being towed about 7 blocks. This was after waiting for 1 ½ hours, after being told that AG Tow (the tow service dispatched, with cell phone number 510 545 2869) would be coming to tow me in 25 minutes. Once the young man got to us, he was obviously a novice and it took him at least a half hour to get my mini-​van connected to the dolly. Then it took him just as long to get it into my garage.
I called 24 Hour Towing as I was given their number by my State Farm 1 – 800 information number. Their 800 number is 1 800 518‑8687. The person Renato who has picked up the phone has been short and snappy with me, telling me that the owner (who I know now to be Marco Zeev) will call me back in 24 to 48 hours. Renato and AG Tow are both telling me that $ 180 as a labor charge is typical and legitimate, and $ 55 for the service charge is also typical. My State Farm Insurance agent told me that the typical complete charge for such a service is $ 55 to $ 65. She was shocked and outraged by the charges.
I am in the process of making a formal complaint with the Office of Citizen Complaints, as well, I will contact the Department of Consumer Affairs.
These unscrupulous people took advantage of my son and I who were stranded late at night. The State Farm agent says this happens all too often. Hopefully, this review will assist someone in not choosing 24 Hour Towing or AG Tow for their service.
