Briscoe Manor

Yesterday we attended a wedding at this beautiful place on a perfect November afternoon and I must say I was very impressed with this charming oasis located in Richmond, Texas. My first time visiting I can see why someone would like to have an event here.
Right off of FM 723, it is located in a beautifully landscaped treed area and has a lovely chapel connected to a rustic courtyard that leads into a fellowship and dining hall where the reception was held. While in the hall the views from the windows provided us with a lovely view of the lake that complemented this fine property!
The acoustics in the chapel were fabulous and the décor was simple and understated which I really liked! Afterwards the congregation convened in the courtyard where we were provided with hor d’oervres and drinks while we waited to file into the fellowship hall.
The servers were all attentive and friendly and the food was presented aesthetically. Probably one of the nicest offerings I’ve ever experienced at a wedding!
There was also an open bar in the back that served drinks and coffee and the acoustics inside the hall were very good!
What I really liked was the nice landscaping and lake outside which provided great photo ops and with the weather being so pleasant, a really nice place to sit and visit in the patio or out by the water.
A truly beautiful place for a wedding, retreat or conference in the Richmond/​Rosenberg area!

I’m related to these folks so I’m partial to them in the family. It’s a great place to visit as some really great local heritage and history do yourself a favor next time you’re in the area and go check it out

I LOVE this place. We got married about a month ago. Jamie was our day of coordinator. She was a dream to work with. Our families were a little all over the place but she was able to real everyone in and get everything done. Everything turned out beautifully.
Hint: If you are interested, AS SOON AS YOU GET ENGAGED, call them! I believe it is a two year waiting list right now.

From the first time I looked online at venues for my wedding, I knew Briscoe Manor was the venue for my then fiancé and myself. Their website seemed to just draw us in. I contacted them and from our first meeting on, we were sold. My fiancé and I went in for a tour of the property, which was breathtaking, and Natalie Plentl answered every question we could come up with before we even asked. She knew everything about Briscoe but also everything about the wedding and reception process.
After we booked Briscoe, we were beyond fortunate to be able to work with Jamie Eggleton. That’s another great part about Briscoe, not only do you get an incredible venue but you also get a wedding coordinator that already knows how to throw a wedding at Briscoe. Jamie was a godsend. She was amazing at communication and never left me in the dark on anything. Her responses always came very quickly whether it was by email or phone. Jamie was so on top of who, what, where, when, and why. She helped me to keep track on my own timeline so that the whole wedding planning process never became stressful. Jamie even contacted all of my off-​site vendors the week of the wedding to confirm when each of them would be arriving to keep them on track too. Jamie provided us with a timeline for the day of the wedding that even included my husband and I sitting alone for 5 minutes before heading into our reception; just allowing us to sit and breathe and be with each other. What a thoughtful moment and I truly appreciated that she set that time aside for us. Throughout our whole wedding day and night, Jamie would update both my husband and I about where we were in the schedule. She was also coming up to each of us making sure we had a drink in our hand if we needed one and always checking to make sure that there were no issues or if there was anything else she could do. My mother even told me after the wedding that she was so impressed by Jamie and that Jamie also checked with my family to make sure everyone was good. Jamie hustled the whole night and made sure that every aspect of our wedding and reception were perfect. I literally could not have asked for a better wedding coordinator and I cannot truly describe to you what an incredible job she does.
We also worked with Rachel from Behind the Bash, Briscoe’s in-​house catering. Rachel was wonderful to work with as well and really took care to check on allergy specific foods for my husband. It has now been a week since we got married at Briscoe and we still have people telling us how incredible the food was. We were beyond excited when we got back to our hotel after the wedding and had a food care package from the reception. We tried to not eat all of it right away so that we could savor it longer!
All of our guests commented on what a gorgeous venue Briscoe Manor is. We were excited to share this terrific piece of Texas with our guests that mostly came from out-​of-​state. It wasn’t too country for Texas, but you could definitely make it more country based on your wedding theme. Briscoe is definitely elegant and can fit practically any theme. From the time you drive down the driveway up to Briscoe, you are already entering into the place where you know you are going to get married and share that special day with the ones you love. I cannot recommend it enough.

I was a guest at a fall wedding here last year, and enjoyed taking someone from out of state to a place so quintessentially Texas. You lose some of the charm of the longhorns grazing and the outside of the place if you get married after dark, though.
The chapel’s stone backdrop is very rustic chic, as is the reception hall. There’s a courtyard between the two where cocktail hour was served. The bride and groom had three different drink options, but I was only ever offered one, which I didn’t like. I kept eyeing the servers hoping they’d bring me another drink tray, but it never happened. Staff should be encouraged to bust up conversations because everyone secretly just wants to stuff their face.
The food was actually shockingly delicious. The salad with heirloom tomatoes and the chicken with some sort of sauce were soooo good, as were the rolls. I got fuller than I’d planned for a wedding because I just couldn’t stop eating. The bartenders were also pretty good and accommodating.
Beautiful place with a dance floor in the middle and lovely chiavari chairs. I had a great time at the wedding, and your guests will be impressed by this venue.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I got married here in April. Stephanie was my coordinator. Briscoe made everything go super super smooth. If there was a problem, I didn’t know about it. I went over everything with them about a month before my wedding, and emailed constantly with questions. Stephanie was super responsive, and kept everything moving the day of.
They did an awesome job of setting things up to my specifications. I handed them the box of props at the rehearsal and everything was done when I arrived. The food was amazing and everyone enjoyed their meals. The caterer, Behind the Bash, was super helpful in menu planning everyone thought the food was delicious. Stephanie made sure our drinks were full, and we had our plates when it was time to eat.
The venue is beautiful so that saves a lot in costs. This is not the cheapest venue around, but it makes up for it in service and you get the entire venue to yourself. If you’re open to it, you might want to consider non-​Saturday night times to save.
Negatives:
1. Book early! I had to book over a year in advance.
2. Drinks were a little weak and shots are not allowed. But you’re in the middle of the country, so you don’t really want your guests driving back drunk.
3. It is a bit far. So you might want to consider whether you really want your hair/​make up people driving that far and incurring extra fees.
Overall, I loved the place, and have zero regrets. It incorporates everything great about Texas.

I got married here this past January and it was such a smooth and wonderful experience! Expensive, for sure, but worth every penny! My coordinator was Lesli and I absolutely adored her! She kept our large wedding group on schedule. The food was fantastic at our reception that day as well!

My husband and I attended a wedding at Briscoe Manor for a friend of his and although I did not know anyone except for the groom and my wonderful husband I really enjoyed myself. The ceremony in the chapel was very nice. After the couple completed their vows they remained in the chapel to take pictures, the guests were invited out side to a beautifully lit courtyard. The weather was wonderful and the friendly staff walked through the guests constantly serving a variety of different and delicious appetizers There was a bar outside as well so guests could enjoy a drink as we waited for dinner. When the bride and groom were ready we all went inside to a very nice reception where we enjoyed a nice and tasty buffet style dinner. I thought it was a wonderful event and put together very well. Everyone has different ideas about what they want for their special day, a beautiful country club in the city and some prefer a nice peaceful setting where you can relax and feel a little away from it all. I would recommend Briscoe Manor to any one, I think it is a wonderful place.

As the fall wedding season comes to a close, I attended a wedding at Briscoe Manor this past weekend. Located on a ranch type property it was beautiful when we rode up the long driveway — it has Texas written all over it (not like that’s a bad thing)! The wedding ceremony took place inside a nice chapel, nothing too fancy but pretty in its own simplicity. Cocktail hour in the courtyard was fabulous, thanks to some partners in crime: the nice weather and the wine/​champagne served. Oh yes, I can’t forget to give a shout out to the crab cake balls! If you’re wondering YES I did track down servers with those magical things. The food was fantastic and the staff was very attentive and friendly! Great venue, great food, great night!

The exterior looks nice, but the inside has poor finishes. You can see the a/​c ducts. Fine for a loft but not in what is supposed to be a palatial estate. The food was over salted and the chicken gave my hubby and I food poisoning. The mushroom risotto was more like orzo pasta with Campbell’s cream of chicken soup. The roast beef was rubbery and served with what was supposed to be fresh horseradish sauce but it was more like crème fraîche. The salad was fantastic. The service was terrible too. It was obvious they did not want to be there. The wine was served in tiny port glasses (?!) and the bartenders wouldn’t slide the glasses towards you. We had to stretch across the width of the tall bar to grab them. While eating a server just stretched across my shoulder, over my plate, placed his palm on top of my water glass and removed it along with other dishes. I had just sat down to eat and wanted my water. We heard the price was $ 79 per person but just can’t see how. The pictures on the listing are misleading. It’s just not that big. And there’s a lot of concrete. The funniest part of the place are the specially printed napkins placed in the restrooms. They have the Briscoe Manor logo on them which is just a large script BM.

I swear when pulling up to the Briscoe Manor I heard the Dallas theme song.
Big sprawling ranch land. Big longhorns grazing. Big airy chapels. Big open courtyards. Big buffet-​style dinners. They just do things big in Houston.
Go big or go home.
The wedding was spectacular; I’m glad I was just a guest and didn’t have to pay for it. If you’re going to tie the knot Texas-​style, do it at Briscoe.

I have a slight love hate relationship with Briscoe Manor. Overall a great place — Jen Christian Lowrance did a great job of coordinating the major/​minor details of the wedding. She made sure everything went smoothily — despite the fact that she had to leave mid-​reception because one of her husband’s family members had passed away. Given difficult circumstances, she did a stellar job. I was very appreciative as well that they were able to give me a tasting of the food before I had signed the contract — 1) it was super important to my family that the food was good & they did deliver!, 2) I had limited time to visit wedding places & have everything done given I was planning from out of town. They were very accomodating. One thing I will say is that it IS expensive — don’t expect a cheap wedding from here & things will add up. But for a place that is reception/​ceremony ready — it’s a great place with lots of options. The place has a great country/​ranch feel which is exactly what I was looking for — a place to get away from the hustle/​bustle of the city. It was slightly inconvenient though for my friends & family since it is about 1 hr away from the airport and the rest of Houston/​civilization. For the most part, the only issue I had was with Rachel/​Misty and just coordinating on some of the food things — but we managed to get over that & they did execute in the end.
My real only wish is that in the end the place wouldn’t rush the wedding — I wish if you had the night slot for the place that you wouldn’t have to buy the extra hours — like most places in hotels where the weddings go until 12 etc. I felt somewhat rushed at the end, but for the sake of saving money ended it on time.
