My all time favorite place in Richmond. The seafood is fresh, yummy and cooked to perfection. And the potatoes are the absolute best. We love siting at the bar and meeting new people having a drink and a fabulous dinner

Excellent service and great food. The inside ambiance does not match the strip mall location. Not 100% sure the high price food match the quality but iris darn close.

Start of by saying I had HIGH expectations. I’ve been to a lot of fine dining restaurants. We were early for our reservation buy only had to wait maybe 15 minutes to be sat. When I made the reservation I had told them I needed it to be wheel chair accessible. Well when we got to the table I had to move the chair and set it to the side so I could get my chair up to the table. Most places even Applebee’s will have the chair moved for me. The waiter came and poured our water then disappeared for about 15 min. Finally got our drink order then disappeared for another 15 min. Let’s just say I hope you have plenty of time. Our reservation was at 630 and we didn’t leave till right before 8pm and we aren’t the type that just sit there to kill time. My wife and I both ordered the Prime Ribeye. I got the baked potato and she got the potato cake. The steak was cooked perfect but just didn’t have great flavor. You can definitely taste that it was cooked over gas or propane. Just disappointed for the price that the flavor wasn’t there. She hated her potato cake, it tasted like week old potatoes. The baked potato was good but needs real butter instead of margin and the skin was soft not crispy like it should be. Overall it was just ok. Will I go back? Probably not unless I have to attend a function. Just disappointed. Hoped for better.

When you pull up to this nondescript strip mall location you may get a bit worried. By your mind will ease at he site of an impressive brown liquor collection, friendly surroundings and nice people. Food is good with nice steaks cooked perfectly, nice sides, and the salad even comes with which is uncommon at ala carte steakhouses. I had the filet and it was on point and flavorful. Price point is reasonable and a go back winner.

Obviously Buckheads is THE restaurant to go to for special occasions and romantic dinners. The entire staff is gracious and attentive. The ambience is great. However is is also a perfect place to grab a meal at the bar with amazing bartenders. In my opinion the onion rings are the best ever, and I’ve been in search. Also if you aren’t too hungry the Scallop with Gnocchi appetizer is a beautiful and very tasty plate. Be sure to leave room for the bread pudding.

Usually we go to Hondo’s for our family Get together at Christmas, but this year we went here. Steaks were excellent, as were the escargot, wine, and desserts! Staff were nice but a little slow.

Buckheads is a local steak/chop house and never disappoints. The service matches up to the price you will pay, but worth the experience every once in a while. Great selection of steaks, chops, lamb and seafood. Huge sides like the Hondos, Bookbinders, etc. If you like single malt scotch, bring your wallet, but they have a great selection and for around $ 20 you can try a 18 year. Still better than $ 100 @ the ABC store and you don’t like it. Bread puddin and key lime are excellent and if you get the filet, order it Oscar style. They will place the 110z over asparagus and pile crabmeat all over it!

Dinner with another couple this past weekend at Buckhead’s. It isn’t a chain chop house like Ruth’s Chris or Morton’s and it shows. The staff was very professional and attentive and the owner came by several times, including once to provide some in depth steak prep/cooking method guidance, at our request. The food was fresh and excellent. Seared tuna app was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. The salad was crisp with the correct balance of greens to dressing, and my NY Strip was cooked exactly as I had hoped. Great localy owned spot for those special occasions when you want the right atmosphere to enjoy a little slice of heaven on a plate.

Went here for my 40th birthday and was very disappointed. I have had a better steak at Texas Roadhouse for a lot cheaper. I got the 8oz filet mignon cooked medium rare and although the steak was the correct pink in the middle, it was a very dry steak. No juice to be found. I wanted to ask for A-1 sauce just to give it some moisture so that I could swallow it. Very sad to pay that kind of money for a disappointing meal when I could have had 3 better dinners elsewhere. Since steak is supposed to be their specialty, I would say they fail miserably. On a positive note. the seared tuna appetizer was delicious.

We arrived a little early so that we could have a drink at the bar prior to our meal. I had the spicy dirty martini which is a jalapeño infused dirty martini, it was interesting but quite good. Once we were seated we started with the scallops which were phenomenal– highly recommend! I had The Buckhead’s steak and crab medium rare and my steak was cooked perfectly, the crab and the glaze were also delicious. Quite possibly one of the best steaks(they were filet medallions) I’ve ever had. The potato du joir was also fantastic. My boyfriend had the ribeye with the potato cake and he was not disappointed either. We finished with two desserts, both chocolate of course, and they were both sinfully sweet :). Their wine selection was vast and we found a wonderful Malbec to go with our meal. The atmosphere was quiet and quaint and our server was great. We will definitely return! This is definitely a hidden gem in Richmond.

It’s always great to have a local restaurant compete with the Ruth Chris and Mortons of the world.

A group of four came to Buckheads expecting a nice steak and some nice wine. Buckheads knocked it out of the park with a wide selection of wines, something that would suit any pallet. The steaks on the other hand, seemed to be low quality. I ordered a filet, medium and it was served as medium rare(not that big of a deal to me). With a medium rare steak, I would expect it to be juicy and potentially some blood cutting into the center. The steak had neither! No juice … Medium rare filet! Something’s not matching up there. No Bueno, take me back to a chain restaurant. My friend got the special fish of the day which was tuna steak, meant to be served rare. It was done and dry — another disappointment. The scallop appetizers were the best thing we ordered and the hot bread, delicious! Eric our waiter was disinterested in working so service wasn’t the best. It could’ve been because it was a Wednesday and we were one of two tables filled. Based on my single experience eating here, it was WAYTOO overpriced for Mediocre food and mediocre service. No thanks.

Another 5 star dinner last night! While the menu is incredible I’ve been trying one of the daily specials. I know that my wife and son will order the filet and the lamb, that means that I am getting some of each. Claude is our regular waiter, he’s awesome! He is one of the reasons that we go there, efficient and a great sense of humor. I had the«Wreck Fish» last night, really tender and very tasty. The beef filet and the lamb are always spectacular! Buckheads is our favorite chop house in the Richmond area. We have never been disappointed there, they always meet or exceed our expectations!

There is a reason this establishment has lasted 20 years in the Richmond Restaurant scene. Tonight I placed a carry out order for my roommate and I. The orders were: Small filet prepared medium well, along with sautéed vegetables and a baked potato. Large filet with demi glacé and crab prepared medium, along with sautéed vegetables and a baked potato. The food was cooked to perfection and throughly enjoyed. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a great steak to make a stop by Buckhead’s. Although we placed a carry out order, this establishment deserves a five star rating.

Pretty darn good meal, only reason they’re missing a star from me is that it’s all a little too safe for me. I ordered the 8 oz filet and it was wonderfully cooked, came with a choice of potato(I picked their«famous» potato cake) and veggies. It was good, great even, just a little too vanilla for a 5 star review from me. I might even subtract a star for price, but it was a holiday party and my boss paid :) All in all, great service, outstanding wine selection,(although I agree that they run out of bottles regularly), pretty good food. I’d probably like it more if they took a little more risk on their food.

I went to Buckheads for a Christmas dinner a few nights ago. I’ve never been before and can’t really see myself going again. I had the 20oz cowboy cut ribeye cooked medium rare, a Caesar salad, French onion soup and a baked potato. The French onion soup was beyond perfect. Perfect temperature, great base, overall this was the best part of the meal. The salad was nothing to brag about. The dressing had more of a mustardy flavor than anchovy which was odd but didn’t ruin the meal. The baked potato was cooked. It’s really hard to mess up a baked potato. So this was fine too. The ribeye came out a perfect medium rare. It was basically just a quick sear on both sides with no grill marks due to my request of internal temperature. My gripe is that there was so much fat. I understand ribeyes are fatty but this was borderline gross. My coworker had a great cut and didn’t complain at all. But he was even taken aback by my cut. The $ 7 Cabernet Sauvignon is really good!(Dante.) The drop ceilings should be replaced, it looks tacky.

I’ve been coming to Buckheads for years and have previously walked out feeling pampered and feeling as if I had a special experience. However, this latest visit really let me down. Most of our problems were service related. It started with my ordering a split of champagne. After quite a long time, I flagged the server down and asked about my champagne. He said he was sorry, but he put the order in late and they ran out. So, I asked for the champagne offered by the glass and also asked if to make up the error, could I have a glass and a half? He said that would be fine. I was disappointed that his solution to the problem was to pour the champagne into a wine glass because a glass and a half of champagne wouldn’t fit in a champagne glass. He asked if it was ok. I thought to myself that it would be ok at Charlies, but not at Buckheads. The bread arrived without butter. It took some time to catch the server and even more time for the butter to arrive. When our meals arrived, I asked for salt and my husband asked for the bernaise sauce that was supposed to accompany his steak. Many minutes passed, so we waved down the server again and inquired about the salt and bernaise again. His response was a frustrated, «oh, he didn’t bring it?» But the time the sales and salt arrived, our dishes were room temperature. It was a frustrating experience. I wish I could say the food made up for the poor service, but it just didn’t.

Don’t be fooled by the location(in a strip mall next to A.C. Moore), eating at Buckhead’s is a wonderful dining experience. Excellent service, wine selection and ambiance. Perfect for a drink at the bar, «fancy» dinner or just dessert. Everything I’ve tried is well-prepared and delicious — filet mignon, escargot, lamb, salad, desserts… Okay, I always get filet when I’m there. Buckhead’s is one of my favorite restaurants for a nice dinner or special occasion.

So after having my favorite food, New York strip, at a popular Richmond steakhouse, I can’t argue that the steak here is tremendous. It was also a pretty sizable portion, so I was able to take it home and enjoy two meals out of it. Even the side veggies, the asparagus, were seasoned to perfection. My dad also had a cut of beef, which he loved(but he didn’t like it so much with the lump crab meat on top… maybe only try if you’ve had it before), and my mom had the crab-something, which she seemed to feel only lukewarm about. Our waiter was wonderful, and the atmosphere was classy and quiet, located on the edge of a strip mall. What is keeping me from a 5-star review here is twofold: 1) My mother didn’t like her crabby-what-have-you, and my dad didn’t like the crab meat lumped onto his steak. When at this steakhouse, it seems as though you’re best to stick with their specialty. 2) Like I said, NY strip is my favorite, favorite meal. What I can’t seem to detect is the difference between a delicious $ 25 — 30 steak(which I’ve had on many occasions), and the delicious $ 45 steak I had here. Maybe the subtleties that justify such a price hike at places like Buckhead’s are beyond me, but I wonder if these steaks are THAT much better than their more reasonably priced counterparts. Not for me to say.

Having driven by this strip mall for years, I always noticed the cars in the parking lot in front of Buckhead’s and thought DH and I should probably give it a try some time. So we did for our anniversary. It was a good choice. I had a giant lobster and DH ordered the steak au poivre. Both were well-prepared and delicious. Both meals came with a side salad, sauteed vegetables and an incredible potato cake. This is a very welcome treat as most steakhouses everything is al a carte. Upon learning it was our anniversary, the restaurant sent us home with complimentary dessert(as we were too full from our dinner), which was a lovely ending to a lovely evening.
