Courtyard Richmond Downtown

HANDS DOWN BEST HOTEL! This is one of the greatest hotels I have been to. The location is perfect, right in Downtown Richmond. The hotel offers $ 25 overnight valet parking (which is a relief and great price). The décor in the lobby is great — very modern. BEST PART — they serve Statbucks coffee in the café in the lobby. Ryan checked us in (and out) and she was very knowledgable and helpful. The room was very nice — modern with clean lines. The bathroom was amazing (see photos). Overall — great experience from beginning to end!

Stayed here for work just for one night. The room was very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The staff that I dealt with was very friendly and helpful at all hours of the day. Definitely recommend staying here.

Great hotel — really nice location, friendly staff, modern décor, brand new. Second stay there this week and I enjoyed it. The only bit of modernity that I thought was weird was that there was no shower door. But, that’s ok.
The really crappy part was the fact that while valet parked, my rental car got egged, which is gross. Had so spend 30 minutes and 10 bucks at the car wash (on a rental car!!) to get it removed. What a mess (literally). I’m just glad it was a rental and not my car. I guess these things happen.

Its a NEW hotel with modern design. Beacause it is new everything is clean, looks great and feels great. It is within walking distance to many nice restaurants and bars. Overnight parking is free on the street around the hotel as long as you move the car by 9 or 10am.

Very nice new hotel in Shockoe Bottom! The rooms and interior are very sleek and modern. They have a Starbucks in the lobby and a really nice courtyard facing Cary street. All of the staff were very friendly and made my stay that much more enjoyable. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone in town for business!
I took a star off for the parking situation…$ 25/​night is a little much for a Richmond Marriott. You’re much better off parking in the garage, especially if you’re not going to be in and out a lot.

Just checked in, Platinum Member… no upgrade, paying for parking, not even a bottled water at checkout… If you are using points, don’t stay here… I have stayed at Renaissance properties for the same points in BIGGER cities and have been treated far better. I realize this may sound a bit pretentious, but I have been loyal to Marriott to receive the perks that come with said loyalty. Also, I spent triple the points as I would had I stayed at the Courtyard Richmond West. Now the Courtyard Richmond West is a bit further out but they could not have been nicer, completely accommodating, bent over backwards to make sure I had everything before I even asked. I will stay at the CRW again, even though it is out of my way…

Really nice Marriott. Either recently built or recently remodeled. Clean. Nicely decorated. Very functional (other than lack of in-​room safe).

I used to be a faithful Marriott traveler. I wouldn’t stay at anything but a Marriott. As I became older and my family grew I had to become more frugal.
Recently I decided to give Marriott a try again. It also helped that the job paid for the room. Nevertheless, I stayed at the Courtyard in Downtown Richmond and this place was amazing. I have really been missing a lot by not staying at the Marriott.
The room and hotel lobby was clean and trendy/​cosmopolitan. The service was outstanding and they even gave me three FREE snacks. I may have to revisit my loyalty for the Marriott brand.

I have an upcoming freshman at VCU, so I am looking for my home hotel for the next 4 years. This is a great location. A few mishaps:
For the price, this is really more of an «express» hotel.
Not sure what housekeeping does other than make the bed. I spilled sugar on the desk and it was still their when I returned. Our coffee wasn’t refilled — didn’t realize until the next morning that we didn’t have cups, creamer, sugar or regular coffee. This was HUGE to us. Our bathroom floor wasn’t swept.
Walls are paper thin. Heard our neighbors tv all night.
All things said — I did love the location and would stay again.

It’s a nice place. Friendly people and it seemed to be fairly clean. The place is new-​ish which probably helps!
There were two main issues: Apparently, it is a «big city thang» — the City authorities allow a building to be built with either NO or INSUFFICIENT parking available. In this case, it is the former.
Prospective guests should expect to park in a non-​attached parking garage down the street or on the street (if available). Alternatively, valet parking is $ 25.
2^nd issue: The internet in the hotel was really bad. I once saw 2MB down and about 1MB reverse path. However, normally it was not so good. Jitter was bad as was latency. And, at least two ports I needed open were blocked. Baaaad!
Update on basis of second stay at this facility about a year later:
We were In Richmond for a conference and the conference organizer selected this facility for our lodging. We once again used the valet service, but this time the valet damaged our vehicle. The owner, Towne Park, LLC, refused to make things right and pay for the damage caused by the valet.
So, respectful advice to potential patrols of Courtyard Richmond Downtown:
1. Consider that the ACTUAL cost of staying at this facility will be $ 25/​day more than advertised, plus gratuities for the valets.
2. Be certain to CAREFULLY inspect your vehicle upon receipt from the valet — each and every time you retrieve it.
3. If your vehicle is damaged you may expect to pay the cost for repairs out of your pocket as the owner may not do the right thing (despicable).
Would we stay here again? Not a chance. They victimized us once and accepted no responsibility — no way we’d let it happen again!

Very nice and reasonably priced hotel in downtown Richmond. Comfortable beds, updated décor and very clean. We attempted to check in a few hours early and the staff was happy to accommodate. There are a lot of bars and restaurants in walking distance and the hotel itself has food and drink options. We did set off the smoke alarm because of the steam from the shower, which was strange. Overall, very nice experience.

Love the location but if you are parking –check out the garage a block or two away for $ 2 not the $ 25 valet rate. Of course you will not have in or out privileges but do you need them in this area?

Stayed 2 nights here during some icy/​snowy weather which didn’t slow down the friendly and attentive valets. If it had been any nicer weather I would have self-​parked one half block down for $ 6/​day but with the snow I chose to use the pricey valet service.
Room was clean and comfortable — I stayed in a 6^th floor 2-​bed double which I felt was more than enough room. I didn’t like the tv at forehead hight when I used my laptop at the desk but it seems like a little detail. Sleek bathroom with a tub/​shower and nice fluffy towels. Plus USB charging at the desk — yay!
Also– fast, thorough cleaning of the room while I was downstairs at breakfast. Nothing worse than bad timing of housekeeping. Staff was nothing but helpful, generous and friendly. Only thing is the café downstairs is a little barebones, I was glad to get a hot breakfast sandwich and Starbucks coffee but a fridge and a microwave does not a kitchen make.
Great part of town, plenty of restaurants to walk to and easy access to broad street and highway.
