The most awesome donut shop in Richmond. Love cake donuts, loved the crazy things they would come up w! The Richmond spirit on Vcu game days. Dixie will be sorely missed!

I loved this place. Betsy and crew crafted wonderful donuts. Sadly, 14 February was their last day. They are officially closed.

It may be a great donut place for the area but given my road trip also included a stop at Donut World in Greensboro… Dixie Donuts just couldn’t hold its own. I got a couple donuts that were both ok but nothing extraordinary. Sorry guys :(

Awesome, unique flavors like currant ginger, Aztec(chocolate, cinnamon, and pepitas with a hint of chili pepper,) and dulce de leche! Loved, loved, loved.

Dixie donuts, in my opinion, is underrated when it comes to the RVA Donut Wars for the best type of donuts. I am not a huge fan of cakey type of donuts but DD does it extremely well! It’s cakey, but not crumbly and packs a punch of flavor. On my most recent visit i got one of their German chocolate donut and it was exactly what I was looking for as I wanted a small sweet snack while shopping around Carytown. I think I am going to start coming here more often as opposed to Sugar Shack or Duck Donuts. Also, they have some crazy flavor combinations going on here as well that I want to check out. Their customer service employees are also friendly and knowledgeable about their donut flavors. I asked for some water to go along with my donut and they offered me a huge cup of water at no charge! I will be coming back very soon!

As many times as I’ve had their donuts, I’ve not reviewed them. Surprising! Especially because I had an experience that I want to talk about. I’d taken my daughter and son-in-law to the airport and it was a very early drop off, like 5:30AM, so I thought I’d drive around Carytown and grab a couple of chocolate donuts at Dixie. But I was still very early, about 6:20– 6:30? So, I parked the car and was listening to some music and decided to wait until they opened. About 10 – 15 mins later up pulled theIr truck and they began taking the donuts from the truck inside. I didn’t bother them and decided I’d simply waIt. One of the folks came over to my car and wanted to know if I was waItIng, I saId yes, and they invited me in well before the store was to open and let me order.(that’s quite a run-on sentence.) Now that’s spectacular service. Also wonderful chocolate donuts. That’s just one experIence and I’ve been there a number of times, a Ways great service and assistance. Can’t believe I didn’t write about that kind of wonderful service, before! That’s 5 star service and 5 star yummy donuts. For me it’s always chocolate! Like chocolate glaze and chocolate icing when I can get it.

We drop in to Dixie Donuts every few weeks to try their latest creative creation and we’re never disappointed. The sweet treats are amazing and their coffee is perfectly brewed! My wife and I enjoyed this establishment so much we served their doughnuts at our wedding instead of cake. The custom desserts were a big hit among our wedding guests as we had hardly any leftovers. Be sure to make Dixie Donuts your sweet tooth destination the next time you visit Carytown!

As someone who has eaten donuts up and down the east coast, dixie donuts was one of the last donut places I wanted to try in Richmond. I had the aztec donut(which I actually liked) and it literally filled me up for hours! The carbs strike hard. I also tried the french toast, and the maple coffee. If you live to eat old fashioned donuts then this is totally your jam, however I still prefer Duck Donuts or Sugar Shack over these, but it’s all a matter of preference. I’m still a sucker for those chocolate glazed ones: P

Visiting from out of town! I love donuts, so I couldn’t resist. We went in late in the day and they were out of a lot of flavors :/ It’s Memorial Day weekend, so that makes sense… We got blueberry and smoas flavors. I would suggest eating straight away. We waited a little too long and they were dried out. But overall a fun and friendly little place!

I prefer cake donuts to yeast, so Dixie is thus far my favorite RVA donut spot(similar to the Donut Plant vs. Dough battle up here in NYC). Their location is convenient enough for me since I love coming back to Carytown and strolling. I tend to get half a dozen donuts at a time then beg my family for help finishing them. Favorites include the seasonal strawberry, Samoas, maple bacon, and The Virginian. Their iced and hot coffee is a necessary addition.
