I first ate at Freddy’s in Wichita Kansas– the original, With a bunch of National qualifying debaters. We all agreed on two things, FRIES and the Original Double Meat. BEST fries anywhere. These are shoestring, crispy, perfect fries. Super thin steak patties are oh so good. That’s all. I never get to the custard…’cause Fries.

I asked for fries without salt. Of course, when my order was ready, they were salted. My husband went back and asked them to correct my order. After 15 minutes, he went back to check the status. Turns out, the staff forgot. Had to wait another ten minutes. In the meantime, the rest of the people at my table had long finished their food. My unsalted fries came after a 25 minute wait. Utterly ridiculous.

Pretty decent burgers. Reminds me a lot of Steak and Shake. They are pretty greasy, but cooked fresh to order which is nice. They have great desserts though. They also have an interesting sauce for your fries that had pickle juice in it.

If you like your patties thin and well done this is the place for you. The double California burger was pretty tasty and I enjoyed the string French fries. My husband got the bacon cheese burger and was very disappointed in it. One very thin slice of bacon! For the price I could not believe it. Wendy’s BACONATOR is fifty times better. Their sweet tea had a weird soapy taste so I could not finish it(we went through the drive through) If I go next time I will try their custard. I heard it is pretty good.

My part of town lacks very many places that serve frozen custard, so when I found out a Freddy’s opened up in Sugar Land, I had to go. Freddy’s has a similar setup to Steak ‘n Shake except it’s frozen custard instead of shakes. The food is ok. I’ve gotten the combo meals and the burgers are ok, a little on the small side, but i love the thin crispy fries. The hot dogs are good too, but I mainly come here for the frozen custard. You can have it in a dish or cone, in chocolate or vanilla, and with many toppings to choose from. The vanilla frozen custard reminds me of how McDonald’s ice cream cones USED to be. Very smooth, rich, thick, and creamy, instead of the the melting icy watery soft serve it is now. Give it a try and see what you think.

Came here to grab a quick lunch to go. Had a hot dog and it was alright. The custard was quite tasty but that really all i have to say about it.

The vanilla frozen custard is GOLD. Very creamy & the flavor is great — perfect amount of vanilla and sweet enough without being«wow I’m going to get a cavity and develop diabetes» sweet. I’d definitely be back for some of that custard. As for the meals/savory stuff — well, I didn’t try any. The drive-thru was pretty slow. There was only one car in front of me, not even at rush hour, literally they weren’t busy at all, but it still took about 7+ minutes to get through the drive thru and leave with my food. I’m thinking it would’ve been faster just to get out of my car and order in the restaurant. Also, they got my order wrong. Maybe they’re still working out some kinks because they’re new.

It’s a shame that they can not get it right. We have tried this location a few times in hopes the next time things would be better. I don’t know why we were stupid enough to try it again! This past time is definitely our last! My son ordered a patty melt and when he bit into it he bit into several pieces of onion skin, at no point should anyone be served garbage and that is what a onion skin is! Garbage!!! My son was left with a dirt taste in his mouth and all management could say is «sometimes that happens» No apologies, no replacement, no explanation, and the 2 people that spoke to me were very rude. So no… never again and I highly suggest if your thinking about stopping in… think about how it feels and would taste to have garbage in your mouth!

Just visited the drive-thru and got the #1 without cheese. Not a very good burger, the two patties are super thin, not juicy, kind of burnt. Was hungry so I ate it, but will not be going back for a «steak burger». The frozen custard is good and that is all.

Tried this place out a few days ago and it wasn’t that bad! Maybe I was really hungry during that time, but everything was sooooo gooooood. I ordered the single patty burger… and yes, the patty is thin, but that’s their signature patty. If you’re looking for a thicker party go elsewhere. The fries were my favorite. Shoestring fries? YESPLEASE. My family also ordered a side of chili and it was also good… But I did find a piece of hair in it… I lost my appetite and we called the manager over to show him and let him know that this is something they should be aware about. The manager offered to give us a new bowl of chili, but instead we asked for free custard and he was happy to oblige. The custard was thick and creamy. It was also delicious, but after that chili incident. I wasn’t feeling it.

No sense raving about great food with superfluous adjectives that insult the integrity of great American traditional burgers, fries, and custard creations. Hot, fresh, fast, affordable, and delicious. What more do you need to know? In addition, I could actually taste that the grilled chicken was really and truly grilled. What a concept. Try this if you haven’t already. If you have, I’m almost certain you’re not reading this since you already know.

Visited the drive-thru. The burger was just ok, nothing special. It was actually a little salty for my taste. The fries were terrible. They were cold and hard. Mini Hawaiian sundae was ok. The fruit was canned(pineapple) and frozen(strawberries) and just didn’t taste fresh. I was shocked when my meal with combo and dessert was $ 16! Wow, that is high. I wasn’t overly impressed and more than likely won’t go back any time soon.

They just opened up one of these in my neighborhood and the family decided to give it a try this evening! The place was hopping and reminded me of a diner in the fifties for some reason! Lots of red! Good burgers with shoestring fries and plenty of ice cream sundaes! I think this place will do well!

We visited last week — thought we would try something new. So sorry that we did. Fries — they put them in the bag and we ended up with two orders of fries upside down at the bottom of the bag I had a single steakburger and I was shocked at the size of the patty — way too small to be called a burger — more like a snack. It was burned and crispy and full of holes. My husband’s patty melt was on rye bread(which is the way they’re supposed to be) but no grilled onions. That was a disappointment! I tried the chili separate from the burger and it wasn’t bad — but for some reason there was no cheese and no onions in it. All in all, a place we will pass by to get to Carl’s Jr or Smashburger. Sorry, Freddy!

Good ice cream but you’ll want to go on down the road for anything else. Sonic, Whataburger, Burger King… all have better burger and fries. Sonic has a better hotdog… heck, Costco has a better hotdog! The vegan burger was actually pretty fair for fast food. Had to try this place once but definitely won’t be back.

Food — hotdogs are ok, but burgers are crispy on the edges… kinda gross Staff — there isn’t anyone over 16 working here. They cleaned our table and took our food away when I took my daughter to the bathroom. The«manager» who is probably 15 had no idea what to do. I would stay away from this place!

Second time to this location and once again I had a great experience. I ordered the Cali burger hot dog and cheese fries. The food came out in a timely manner and was hot fresh and tasted great. Warning I’m not sure if it was just me or they give you way to many fries with your order I’m not complaining but take that in to consideration before ordering to much food, I usually can hang with the best of them but I could barley finish all the fries they gave me. Lol this place is great you should definitely give them a try.

We visited Freddy’s in SL on a Sunday at 2PM. My GF and I were surprised at how crowded the place was 2 hours after lunch. The line was out the door, but moved quickly. 5 stars for friendly staff, cleanliness and quick response time even with it being so packed. Food: I’ll start with the fries. While fries are moderately hard to screw up, it is not easy to fry up something special. The skinny fries here are outstanding, crispy, not soggy like other fast food joints. Steak burger: I used to be a big fan of Steak n’ Shake. I think that’s because I had nothing to compare it to. The bacon and cheese double steak burger was delicious. The cheese actually melted between the steak burger patties unlike other places where you get a cold slice of cheese on your mediocre burger. Kids chicken tenders: my GF’s daughter is a chicken tender connoisseur. She says the best chicken tenders are at Harry Carrey’s on Navy Pier in Chicago. Second best at Monument Inn in La Porte, TX. Third best at this Freddy’s location. Seriously, the girl knows her chicken tenders. We have discussed chicken tenders at length and those are her top three. Chicago Dog Freddy’s Style: For those that are coming here for the Chicago dog, be warned that there are differences. What does«Freddy’s Style» mean? My interpretation: In Chicago the dogs are cooked in boiling water, the buns are steamed and have poppy seeds. At Freddy’s the dogs are grilled and the buns buttered and toasted. This may not be a big deal to some. But it does change the taste. The hot dog was delicious, but not the Chicago dog I am used to. Staff: There were a lot of workers there. Probably because of how busy they have been their first week. Regardless, every one I interacted with was polite and friendly. Restrooms: Clean. I was actually surprised by how clean they were given how many people were in the store. Overall great place for a quick meal at a reasonable price.

Went here on Tuesday, June 23rd2015 for the opening day dinner. The line was crazy as it overspill to the outside. They have ample seating selection for inside &3 tables outside. Drive-thru also packed by dozen of cars! This was our first time in this Freddy’s(obviously) and we went ahead to get the Original Steakburger, Original Pattymelt, and the Signature Turtle Sundaes(don’t forget to ‘hold the custard’ for later serving). We waited for around 15 mins and our number got called. The Steakburger and the Pattymelt were as expected from other Freddy’s locations, thin & crisp. The Turtle Sundaes was very delightful as well. Creamy but not to sweet. Perfect for Texas summer. The staff and cashier were very friendly, tables were constantly cleaned, good management. Overall is 4 out of 5 stars. Very convenient location between US59& Grand Parkway. Recommended for folks in Sugarland & Richmond. Looking forward to go there again.
