Impulse

This is a great store with many different styles of furniture and accessories but when I visited the store, I was never greeted or acknowledged from the staff. I am planning to purchase several pieces of furniture as well as consign a few things that are worth some money in the near future. I’m not sure I want to give them my business if they don’t know how to treat their customers. There are plenty of other places here in Richmond and I’m sure they would be happy for my business.

Have you ever walked into a really quiet store and get the feeling you are not welcome? Why are the owners– Jane and Kelly– so indifferent and aloof? They have beautiful high quality unique inventory attractively displayed– good work Jenny. I’ve purchased items over the years and always enjoy the idea of going there– until I get there. I have observed this «attitude» on numerous visits when other shoppers were in the store. They have a fabulous store– a smile goes a long way!

For those of us with high-​end taste yet limited budgets, you can’t beat Impulse. Quality selection and staff is helpful. If you not sure of an item, they have a 24-​hr approval period. Provide your credit card number and take the item home. If you return the item the next day, you’re not charged. If you keep it, they charge your card.
Jane and staff are so helpful and friendly. They balance being helpful without hounding you. You can shop at your own pace or ask questions and they gladly help. It seems many of the customers are regulars so it’s a very welcoming place.
There is a little bit of everything: antiques, lighting, rugs, mirror, some original art, old frames, tableware, curtains, furniture… and much more. Items turn over quickly so don’t make the same mistake I have by «thinking» about it and then going back and it’s sold. There are newer things with a few contempary items. Some of the items are priced low and others higher but still value for the quality.
If you like things that few other people have, shop here. If you cookie cutter (i.e. uninspired) go to the mall.
Impulse is much better than their competitors in price, quality, and service.

This is the best home furnishings consignment shop I have seen. The owner has exquisite taste and obviously has a great following from some of the finest homes in the area. She has many traditional pieces, but also some surprises (like the gorgeous Art Deco table lamps I found on my last trip in). Impulse also has a big collection of window treatments too.
Keep stopping by as what she has changes all the time!

Impulse is a high-​end home furnishings consignment store located in Tuckahoe. Tuckahoe is one of the West Ends most prestigious neighborhoods, and this shop is filled with items that come directly from those large classic southern homes in the neighborhood.
The store has some gorgeous antiques, but they mostly carry designer furniture and home accents, all bought within the past few years and in pristine condition. Chandeliers, upholstered chairs and couches, bedroom sets and home goods like framed art are all from the best-​known designers and stores…
When I was there a few weeks ago I saw a pair of zebra occasional chairs that I had been coveting since they were featured in Metropolitan Home several months ago. I also saw a classy, modern nursery set.
But what really sets this place apart from the competition is a section located in the back of the shop, filled with a generous assortment of window treatments. All of the items are custom made, and if you are lucky you can find something cut to fit those odd-​shaped old-​Richmond windows in your home… of course, if you find something that isn’t quite the right size you can also take it to your local seamstress and have her rework it– it is still way more affordable to buy the treatments from Impulse rather than order them from a local reseller.
For the quality and condition that these pieces are in, Impulse is very reasonably priced. However, expect to drop a hefty chunk of change if you are planning to buy more than one or two items. Just remember– you are getting an amazing deal!
