This is a very hip restaurant and both the food and service are very good. The décor and atmosphere is nice. I’ve tried a few different rolls, which I don’t remember the names to, and they were all really good. I also love takoyaki and this is one of the few places I’ve been able to find it locally. I get it with my meal every single time.

Maybe a 1 star is too harsh. I stood around and waited for the cashier/hostess to greet us. She seemed busy at the register, but could have made some eye contact first. The place was not busy, about 30% seated. After greeting each other, I asked if they have uni today. As some of you know, many locations run out or don’t get much of this. She replied yes they do. I ordered 1 uni nigiri to go. I waited, eager for my tasty uni. They don’t seem to be working on the order, which is fine. I’m waiting patiently. But after about 10 or 15 mins of standing and waiting, I could not hold it any longer. The product takes 30 secs to make. I ask the same person how much longer it’ll be. She said that she can take down my phone # and call me when it’s ready. Really? For 1 uni nigiri to go? At the same moment, another waitress overheard and said they’re making it now. So, great! Well, Lo behold another waiter is behind the counter informs me nicely, apologizes, and says they have only enough uni for 1 piece and offers me a refund. I can’t say that I won’t return to try their food one day. But this experience is sub-par.

If you’re looking for a place to get good quality Japanese food nearby, please give Kamza a try. I came here for dinner with my hubbie, mother-in-law, and a couple of brothers after Kirala in Berkeley told us there was a 30 – 60 minute wait. In the end, we were very very happy with the service and the food. Take it from my mother-in-law who is a Japan native. You know it’s good Japanese food when Japanese people like it. Their sashimi is VERY fresh and the cuts are a nice size. You can also tell there is a lot of care taken into cooking/preparing each dish, making sure it tastes good and is presented beautifully. Some dishes that really stood out to me were the Rainbow Carpaccio(highly recommend), Kaki Fry(fried oysters), and the dorayaki ice cream dessert. The Rainbow Carpaccio was lovely on the platter and the tart sauce combined with the sashimi was exquisite. The kaki fry surprised me because I worried that the oysters would be dry after frying, yet remained juicy and succulent. Fried dorayaki + green tea ice cream? Of course it would be the best combination in creating a toned down sweet for dessert. Other dishes we had are pretty standard at most Japanese restaurants. The boys ordered dish upon dish of karaage(fried chicken), we had an ika maruyaki(whole fried squid), tried the pork ribs(maybe not so standard? But I’m not a fan of meat though I hear it’s great), a couple of the sushi rolls(can’t remember which ones, but they are definitely nicely sized), geso(fried squid legs), nabeyaki udon, and the salmon&ikura donburi. If you’re a fan of drinks, the selection here is pretty decent, although you’d probably want to go to an izakaya for that. I tried a sip of the peach shochu which tasted really delicious since it was very sweet and fruity. They have a good range of Japanese beers, but they don’t have chuhai(in case anyone ever googles were to get chuhai). Cokes, Asahi and Shochu made their rounds this night. The food is good, but that’s not why this restaurant got the 5 stars. The 5th star is really because of the FANTASTIC service that was provided here. There were 3 waitresses that came around to help us and all were great, but our main server was Inae. She was so sweet, funny, and just all around awesome! Tip well here! The total for 4 adults and 1 kid was just under $ 250 after tips which was really nice because the same meal at an izakaya would easily run you over $ 350.

Well, you get what you pay for. It’s expensive, but it’s one of the best sashimi that I had. The place is weird, in the pacific east mall, so they should really lower their prices. Not only that, they’re a little tricky too. Everything is a la carte– so I had to buy rice with my sashimi and she also tried to trick me into getting miso soup– saying it like«miso soup ok?», usually meaning that it’s free, but my mom caught my mistake and we said no since I had to ask if it’s a separate charge. Weird. Chirashi bowl looked good, but you can get the same or better quality for way cheaper, and you get more stuff such as free salad, soup and edamame. We must say… the sushi rice in the chirashi was good quality though. So was the sashimi(fresh and good large pieces as well) and my uni(which were little uni rather than that large one you usually see) I don’t know if I’ll come back, maybe if I wanted to spend a lot of money on sushi I’ll come here but I think you can get a better ambiance for the same price somewhere else.

Came here with my best friend. I came here with low expectations because no offense– its located in pacific east mall and that’s mostly chinese food. I ordered titanic. I was debating between titanic and fire dragon. I was told that fire dragon would be warm, and that it would be slightly cooked. he server told me that titanic would be more fishy and have a taste of variety of fish. I ordered one titanic roll alongside tekka roll. When the titanic came out I was super shocked that it was huge!!! And it was so fresh and tastey! i loved the sauce and how the fish melted in my mouth. The roll was 13.95 and tekka was around 5 dollars.

Located inside the Pacific Mall Plaza rite of the Central Ave freeway exit, this mall plaza also got 99 Ranch, Sheng Kee Bakery, Asian Pearl, VH noodle(name got changed but all food stillsame), Phở Saigon, Isshin Ramen, and other decent eatery, plus a karaōke boba hangout place. They got big parking lot which is always fully packed on every single weekend. This sushi joint got great friendly service, our waitress is Japanese, nice lil lady, definitely owned by Japanese, got clean modern décor, close to mi casa n O.M.G they got FRESH uni! wat da hay! they also got happy hour starting at 4:00 I think. their lunch ends at 2:00, not 2:30( Unilocal got it wrong). Definitely enjoyed my sashimi n uni! My beautiful fat daughter got the fire dragon wich was ok if u like mayo sauce n the burnt taste, its got salmon n hamachi or yellowtail on top n its litely seared, I am not a fan of the burnt taste from the torch, the fried shrimp tempura inside Titanic n Fire Dragon rolls was good, Titanic got salmon and tuna on top, inside got shrimp tempura n avocado, the only roll I like best. my handsome macho skinny son got the soba noodle wit veges, it was served in a thick warm clay bowl n huge wooden spoon. my son n I eyed each other n smiled, he said«this is how Japanese do it!» We had no complaint wats so eva bout service or food.

Came by here looking for the Japanese restaurant that used to be here and I was shocked to learn it had closed awhile back. Kamza is the new spot, so still in the mood for Japanese a friend and I decided to give it a go after a quick look at the menu. The place is very clean and our waitress was fantastic. I ordered a Kamza Box which is basically a bento box with chicken teriyaki, rice, salad and mixed tempura. Before the main course we got some delicious miso soup as well. The food was very good I will say the only thing I didn’t like was the salad. Overall, good service and food for not that bad of a price I will definitely come down here again!
