Amazing salsa and ok Rita’s. I stopped by to waste time before a training course and was happy to see this establishment is still thriving. Originally erected and opened in 1960, this place everything that Richmond represents. Good food, great service and amazing hospitality. Stop by for a try!

Pretty good Tex mex! Excellent queso. Wasn’t impressed with the cheese enchiladas or tacos though. The tamales were great as was the beef enchilada. Will be back!

This place was great! Definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants around. Actually one of the best restaurants period. The service was excellent. Never had to wait for refills on drinks. Very attentive wait staff. And the food was beyond tasty. I had the Del Rio & it was delicious! The chicken meat was heavenly. My son had the chilli & said it was terrific. We will definitely be back!

Came here once and it was okay. Came back a second time and it was horrible. I couldn’t even finish my carne asada plate. The meat was thick and super salty… seasoning tasted like salt and pepper. Nothing close to carne asada, more like cheap meat beaten to resemble steak. Defiantly not worth the $ 40 we spent on this place. I would like to think there’s something edible on the menu but I won’t be back to find out. Not to mention the place is outdated and smells like old carpet! If the smell of the place doesn’t offend you, the food will. Never ever ever coming back…

This place has been here forever which means they must be doing something right. Good Tex-Mex food, but could use more lighting since it’s not a romantic place or anything. Worth a try.

I noticed a lot of negative reviews regarding the authenticity of this«Mexican» food. Let me assure you, if you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is NOT it. But if you are looking for loaded, cheesy, gravy-drenched Tex Mex. THIS. IS. IT. I used to never come here based upon rumors around town that the cleanliness of this place is sub-par…but my husband’s family has been coming here since the beginning of time and I started to love it after figuring out what to order. First, let me say that the queso must be laced with crack. Because I feen for it. It is SOADDICTING. Yes, it’s yellow cheese, but with added spices. We all love the cheese, especially my kids. Secondly, the food always comes out hot and fresh. They rarely ever mess up an order. The service is always fantastic, at least for us. We have learned to order certain things on the menu. If you love Tex-Mex, come here and try the cheese enchiladas. I’ve never had better cheese enchiladas. They also make a phenomenal Combination Chicken Nacho plate which comes out looking like a taco salad but I promise there are nachos and meat, cheese, beans, and tons of guac under there! Oh and this is where breakfast tacos are done best in town. They stuff them FULL(unlike Bob’s that charges extra for their salsa!) and they are generous with the meat and cheese inside the tacos. I love coming here for breakfast after church and getting the cheese omelette ranchero. Overall, if you are looking for anything authentic along the lines of chicken mole, fish tacos, stuffed chile relleno, with queso fresco etc etc… you better just keep on movin’. Not here. But if you’re like me and you love gravy and cheese covered Tex Mex dishes, you will love Larry’s.

Run of the mill Mexican food, nothing here to make it stand out. Service was good. Guacamole was really, really bland. Tried mixing it with the salsa provided, but bland on bland is well you know… bland. The salsa was spicy on the tongue but was otherwise bland. Ordered a chicken assortment meal and got a beef taco somehow or other. Oh well, will not be back but gave it a try anyway.

I am not local to the Richmond area, but I drive ½ and hour every once in a while to come to this place! It is Tex mex. I ALWAYS order the fajitas. Their chicken is the best I have ever tasted. Their quest is just as good. The service has always been great for me, even when they are busy. I LOVE this place. But know that it is a locals type of place, in look and feel.

The food here is great! My family and I love to come eat here. We see the same people working here all the time which is great to see. The place may seem dark to some people, but it’s just an older place that keeps their old traditional recipes going. They have some of the best refried beans and enchiladas(I recommend the original chili on top)! My family from out of town liked eating here and I know some people have moved away but still come back here when they come back to town. Give it a try, you’ll surely like it as well.

We were mislead by the name of the restaurant and by the fact so many people go there, we noticed a lot of older people, maybe the place USEDTOBE good… not anymore. The service was slow even though they were not busy, I order a plate with several things so I could try their food. One taco, one tamal, and one enchilada: there were beans and a bean based dauce over the plate some rice and some lettuce one thing on top of the other: long story short I left almost everything: it was bad really bad. My husband’s enchiladas has chhunks od unmelted cheese and were kind of smoochie, my son got the best deal of us with a beef fajita torta which he said was OK. Sooo disappointed, we were looking for real Mexican food and found terrible tex-mex. NEVERGOINGBACK.

I heard rave reviews of this place so while visiting from Chicago I stopped in. The place looks like the kind of place that would have great food from the outside. Walking in there was a horrible smell. That should have been the 1st sign. We had chips that were what you would expect. The salsa was hot, really to hot for most to enjoy. We ordered nachos(which I really never order anywhere outside of a chain). They were bland. I had a taco, enchilada and chip covered in melted cheese. All of the food was bland. Very Americanized! The food could not be further from authentic. Honestly it was not even great for being Americanized. Very disappointing. Don’t waste your time.

Great food, when they get your order right. Never realized how hard it would it be to get a beef and shrimp combination nachos. I have ordered out 3 times and have had my order wrong 3 times. Maybe next time I should dine in.

This was a sad experience. I can take the old and funky, but American cheese in an enchilada is a sacrilege.

I miss this food! The special combination nachos are amazingly good! Grated cheese, on top of tomato, on lettuce, on top of guacamole, your choice of ground beef, fajita chicken or fajita beef,(I always get chicken) on top of beans over queso covered homemade chips!!! I’ve eaten here since I was very young! You either love it or hate it!!! A ¼ order is enough for 1 person. A half order if your really hungry or a full order to share!!! You won’t be sorry

Larrys Mexican restaurant is one of the best I would say. It is not overly«Americanized» and the pricing is reasonable. The atmosphere is great as well as the staff. The food is good and the hot sauce is AUTHENTIC hot sauce. It is no where near pace picante. I make home made sauce and I can tell this sauce is clearly not something out of a jar. My husband and I get the mixed fajitas for two with plenty left to take home. We have never been unhappy with their food or service. I don’t care to read negative ratings about this place. My mind has been made up for years now.

Told my co-workers about this Mexican Restaurant called Larry’s, so we went there for lunch. Got seated right away, and chips and salsa were on the table before we could all sit down. Along with some ice cold water and a waiter ready to take our drink order. After getting our drinks and giving our orders. We enjoyed our chips and salsa till lunch came out. I got Beef Quesadillas, with refried beans and rice. The Beef melted in you mouth. Service was fantastic, no one had to ask for any refills or more chips and salsa. We all left very happy. So if your every passing through Richmond on Old 90. At the split look over to your left at a Mexican Restaurant called Larry’s and stop in, you won’t be disappointed!

Menu had a variety of food from typical Mexican fare(tacos, flautas, enchiladas) to burgers, BBQ ribs, and fried fish. I tried the ribs. Not tasty all fatty. Service was ok. It was a big and loud place. Hubby didn’t like his enchiladas either. Not returning. I grimace whenever I drive by.

You must understand these basic rules when going to Larry’s:(1) this place is old fashioned Tex-Mex, like stepping back in time to a dusty central Texas town back in the 60’s.(2) this is not the place to find cutting edge Mexican cuisine with upscale fajita’s, quail in adobado sauce and the such.(3) You come here with the understanding that your going to be eating a lot of cheese, and not only is that okay, but that is what you are craving. With this understanding come and enjoy Tex-Mex in all its classic kitsch glory. I enjoy their chili, my wife likes the cheese enchiladas covered in onions. Don’t try anything fancy and you will have a good time.
