Sorry this is my first review. We arrived at legend at 1:30 and they said it would be about a 30 minute wait, an hour and a half later we left because they said they were still 15 min away from food.

if it were just for the beers I would give it a solid 4. I really liked the Cold Snapper Kolsch I had. I liked the ginger/lime beer — not exact sure on the name and my dad enjoyed his pilsner. for service and quality — lacks. This is where my negative comes in. It very outdated on the inside and everything is sticky. It’s kind of strange to see a restaurant and«brewery» in that layout. The outside seating that overlooks the river I believe, would have been nice to sit at. Food was just OK. Got the southwest burger. Problem is… it came out 45 minutes later. The server never came by to say«hey there is a little delay» or just something. We had to ask to see the status of it. Mind you this was only about 5 or 6pm. imagine if it was a busy dinner rush. I think maybe they needed more kitchen staff. The manager was made aware of our frustration — as any good manager would do, they came by and apologized for the inconvenience. I’ve been a server and I know how annoying it can be when the kitchen is backed up. I would come back for the beer but not the food. The location is a little strange. I’m not used to the whole Richmond warehouse type area look so it was interesting.

Went to Legend on a rainy evening a few days ago and everything was perfect. Server was professional and knew what she was talking about, food came out on time and correct. Started with the brussel sprouts(delicious and a LOT of them), they were crisp and salted perfect. Got the fish and chips and a burger, both disges were just right and I’m usually a hard person to please. Beers were great obviously. I had a coffee stout they had going and it was the darkest beer I’ve ever had that was that smooth. Definitely don’t shy away from Legend, great experience!

We LOVE this place… our absolute favorite in town. They have a good selection of standard beers and the food is outstanding. General pub food but oh so good(Love the Brussel sprouts!) Atmosphere is old school and casual with a great outdoor area! Keep it up Legend!

So a few things to note: 1. I think this brewery has one the larger if not largest food menus in the area for local breweries. 2. The chicken wings were amazing. I got them dry rubbed and hickory smoked and they had so much flavor I didn’t even want to use my blue cheese. 3. The beer was all right in my opinion. Like it was good and there was nothing wrong with it, but it was just average and none of the flavors really stood out to me and I got a beer flight. I think the most exciting beer I got was the coffee stout. Which again was good but it wasn’t great. Now someone else I was with got bourbon ale and he loved it. He said it was the best bourbon ale he has had. 4. Service was really slow and there were barely many customers there. Like I could understand if it was busy but it wasn’t, there were maybe four or five other tables there and at least three waiters or waitresses helping those tables. It took us almost 10 minutes for our waitress to come over to our table though, and she was only helping one other table. Plus almost another 10 minutes just to get water. So that kind of took away from the experience but it wasn’t a deal breaker. Like I would go back there just because everything else was good.

Service was good… You can tell they were over us, but in their defense our party didn’t really have an idea of what was going on. The hostess and server were still nice. They lost a star because I overhead the employees talking about us lol nothing too bad, but still… Save it for when we walk away. Lost another star because I had the nachos with avocado and the avocado was old

We had a really great experience here. We headed on over to the brewery for a couple of beers and some dinner. The waitress was a little harried and could have been more attentive, but other folks help us out. We tried a bunch of the beers on tap, including the brown ale and the bourbon barrel ale, which was outstanding. The views from the deck we fantastic and the night was clear, so sitting outside was great. We had several appetizers and meals. All of which were good. The soft pretzel was a great combination with the beer. I had the Best of the Wurst platter, which was good, although the andouille sausage was just ok. All in all it was a fun night out and I would definitely go back.

My friends and I took a trip to Richmond to celebrate my friend’s bachelor party. We’re craft beer fans, and Legend was — of course — a necessary part of the trip. The food was pretty good, the beers delicious, and the waitress phenomenal. Thank you, Krystin, for the fun, positive experience you created — I’m sorry for the not-5 review I must leave. To continue the celebration, we brought growlers to fill. We’re not from around here, and don’t have Legend-branded growlers. If you’re looking for a growler fill, you need to know: they charge a rather large surcharge for filling a growler that doesn’t have their name on it, and — this is important — they won’t warn you. The first time you’ll find out is on the bill after the growler has already been filled. I asked the bartender about it. His response: «Welcome to Richmond.» Welcome, indeed. If you have a growler to fill, I recommend you go somewhere that won’t treat you like a second class customer for being a tourist.

Their coffee stout was over carbonated and lacking in the expected thickness of a standard stout. Has a great espresso taste, but an overly sweet taste. Has a tangy roasted taste similar to Starbucks Sumatra coffee.

Came here after a long hike with James River Hikers, which meant we had a big group to cater to. The atmosphere is really open and casual on a Sunday afternoon and the staff was both pleasant and attentive to our table of twelve. Personally, my friend and I had a great conversation with our waiter about the brewery’s offerings in both beer and liquor selection. I wish I could remember his name, but he had just started and was both funny and charming. The food was pretty average bar fare, as we ended up with fish and chips(actual fries for all of you silly Richmonders that think fish and chips should be potato chips! Ew!). I was recommended the porter over the stout I asked for, which was pretty weighty for a 5% ABV. My only wish was that it wasn’t served cold, but that’s more personal preference than anything else. Overall a clean and nice establishment with a great view of the city from Manchester. I’m hoping to get back over here in the summer when it’s not raining to enjoy that patio and some brew.

So met a friend for lunch here on the first warm day this winter. Loved sitting on the deck and the atmosphere. My food was really good as well and our server was nice… Not sure why it took about 45 mins to get a salad and an appetizer? I know it wasn’t our server because she was amazing and kept apologizing and checking on the food. So not sure what happened in the kitchen but otherwise eh

As someone from Florida, I was very excited to try a brewery from Virginia, especially one that served food. Their spicy oatmeal stout was spot on and a great dark beer for someone that that is a fan of light beers. We ordered the food and ordered the nachos, mussels, fish and chips, cheesesteak, and burgers. The service was very slow and got one of our appetizers with our entrees. Also, their food was nothing spectacular or anything memorable. Their batter for the fish and onion rings was too wet and very doughy, not enough meat and ended up scraping off the batter and eating the fish on the inside. Everyone was just satisfied with their meals, not impressed or anything worth coming back for. I am a fan of their beers! Their food or service is something I will not be coming back for.

We were working at a plant down the road and someone recommend this place. It was way too cold to hang outside, but the view is impressive. I tried one of the chocolate porter and it was very good. Two of us tried different burgers. They were OK. But nothing to rave about. The best food item was the fried Brussels sprouts with feta cheese and bacon. Yes you read that right. It is a must try. Prices aren’t bad. It’s very loud so be prepared for that. Good place to go with a lot of friends. Even just for happy hour.

Why? Why?! Is the hardywood crap brewery a better review than this place. Sure I can see the fact that it’s like a park, it’s nice you can bring you pup. But the beer… The beer. Is so much better here! So smooth from light to dark. Never liked dark beer until I got here and apparently after this place I actually enjoy dark beer. The view of Richmond is so beautiful at night it would be ridiculous for you not to see it.

I will preface: I am not a beer drinker. But I do love a good happy hour, a good patio, and a good view. I came here Wednesday night with a professional group that I am involved with. Legend’s served our group of 30+ with efficiency and ease. Since the organization was picking up the appetizers, I stuck with those. I sampled some of the nachos, chicken wings, onion rings, fried pickles, mussels, and potato skins. I would say all were tasty, especially for a place whose focus is beer not food. I did not care for the bleu cheese on the potato skins, but the chicken wings were honestly the best wings that I have ever had. With each of these appetizers, the accompanying sauces were zesty and unique and took the item to the next level. What really makes Legend a FIVESTAR for me is the view of the sky line and the open air patio. I don’t know that either can be beat in the Richmond area. Legend’s is a phenomenal location to spend the afternoon catching up with old friends and enjoying the weather. They accommodated our large professional group extremely well, and I definitely plan to come back with a large group of friends.

Let’s just dive right in on this review by saying Legend’s view is GREAT! I went with a friend and her friends on a whim one day last week during the bike race. The atmosphere on the deck area is really nice! There are plenty of seats and a view of downtown Richmond that is to die for. I got a lemonade-tasting cocktail that was really, really good. Other people in our party got burgers, onion rings, and pasta and they were all satisfied. I gave them 3 stars because nothing stood out to make the experience extra special, but on the other hand nothing was awful either. It was a solid A-Ok experience.

Pretty good service, decent beer. I didnt have anything off of the menu that wasn’t offered to me. I had the pale ale, it had better taste and finish than their hoptober beer. Cheers!

My rating is driven by the top notch beer quality. Get a flight! We tried nearly a dozen beers. Also got some sausages and chicken and waffles. Food was good but the beers won the night. I have been to many breweries that give out flights with descriptions and often wondered how I was missing out on all the wonderful stuff being described(note the sarcasm). Legend does a great job at portraying its beers and has a wide variety of types to try out. Plus, it is open late(unlike other nearby breweries)! Service could be quicker but all the staff were friendly and attentive if you needed something. Sit outside when you can and take in their great skyline view!

OK, food! I had the Best of the Wurst! WOW! Let me talk about how tasty the Bratwurst and Kielbasa with the mustard etc. was. It was the best I may have ever had. It was great, 5 stars! The sauerkraut was/is marinated in their dark brown beer… delish. I loved the German potato salad. Lor was our server and she was as good as you can be fortunate to have to have dinner and drinks. The bar service inside was also 5 stars. Legends was busy but we had excellent service… not quick, about a 35 min wait for a table outside, but outstanding. A seat outside w/our view of the city at night is the best I’m aware of around RVA. It seemed up close and personal. :-)) A very enjoyable evening for just the two of us.

One of the oldest and best. Going strong since 1994 and in the same location, right beside the James River. Noted for having several beers that are Great American Beer Fest medal winners. I’ve been to many of the up and coming Craft Brews in NoVa and this one excels. There are many reasons to like this place but it’s one of the few craft breweries that serves great beer and a full menu. You can’t beat the location with a great view of the Richmond skyline while looking over the James River. On this evening me and Ben enjoyed a great german dinner and some great craft brews. Our service Courtney was exceptional and you will get great value for your money. Sit outside on the deck and enjoy the view and the weather.
