Came in for a low-brow, no-nonsense nail trim and buff. I had called ahead and asked them how much that would cost, and the lady said $ 5. When they finished with everything, though, they said it would be $ 15. What the hell, man?! I was not pleased. The salon is pretty spacious and well-ventilated, so there’s that. My co-workers swear by their shellac manicures, which is why I opted to give them a try, but I totally don’t appreciate the inconsistency in price quotes.

This newer location of my favorite nail spot on Staples Mill Road also offers great service. You can walk in and get a mani/deluxe pedi for $ 35-$ 45 depending on the special they’re running. You are usually offered a bottle of water or soda to sip while you’re getting your pedicure. This is standard for upscale spas, but a nice touch at a more casual one like this. The deluxe pedi is the same at the Staples Mill location and includes all the normal pedicure treatments along with exfoliation, a hot towel wrap and a hot-stone leg massage with great-smelling tropical oil that leaves your legs feeling very moisturized. When I went to this location, it was newly opened and a bit understaffed. They were able to take me right away for a mani/pedi, but my friend had to wait a little. By the time we left, there were a lot of people waiting. Hopefully they’ve gauged their clientele a bit better and hired some more employees. Even though there was a crowd, my nail tech still took her time and gave me quality service. I was very pleased and will certainly go back.
