This place is amazing. They have a huge art facility for folks with developmental and other profound disabilities. The studio is divided into areas for painting, clay, textiles and printmaking. The artists are able to sell their work in the gallery and pocket a percentage of the sale. The have online shows too and a great annual fundraiser at Clif Bar in Emeryville.

The best art program for people with disabilities. Amazing teachers and staff. My sister has been an artist at NIAD for a very long time. Due to illness, she missed about a year. This program was instrumental in her recovery. She is part of a community, and has a sense of purpose. Thank you NIAD for contributing to my sister’s well-being, and creating a vibrant artist community!

NIAD is Creative Growth and Creativity Explored’s sister center, in a way. It’s an art studio for people with developmental disabilities and it’s a damn good one. I’m a huge fan of this type of Outsider Art and they sell some really quality work. Not to mention the fact that some of it is extremely under priced. It’s original work that I’m proud to display in my home and some of the artists who create the work are world renown. Three cheers for NIAD!
