In town on business. Checked Unilocal for a good place. Unilocal lead me to Pop’s, they didn’t disappoint. Friendly counter person took our order. Delivered promptly. Cuban was great, turkey sandwich was also great. Sour dough bread made the turkey sandwich. When in Richmond this is a must try. Thanks Pop’s.

Amazing food! I had the gnocchi with snap peas and it was delicious. All of the breads and cookies looked fabulous too. Great selection of beer and soda.

I just ate at Pops for breakfast and let me tell you, this food was just what I needed this morning. The prices are most definitely affordable. I got a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with an everything bagel. MYGOODNESS. Amazing. And the great thing about it is that it was on $ 4.50! The bagels are made fresh every day. The atmosphere reminds me of like a coffee shop or Busboys & Poets. Very laid back. Jazz music. There’s even this cool little hangout area that had like chairs and instruments. Loved my time here!

So few cafes out there offer a relaxed environment that has equally great food. Pop’s Market is one of them. Whether you’re with a group of friends or going solo with no more than a good book, this is a great spot. The high ceilings and large windows give a level of natural light that would please even the most Instagram-obsessed individual, and the wooden floors give off a sense of elegance softened by the homey chalkboard menus. The soup I had was fantastic, and the insanely delicious made-from-scratch bread here would make anyone not legitimately allergic to wheat renounce their«gluten-free» diet in a heartbeat. Looking forward to going again for sure.

«Pop’s was recommended on Unilocal and close to our hotel the Richmond Marriot so we thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed! Breakfast sandwiches were out of this world! Everything is home made down to the sausage on the egg, sausage and cheese sandwich. My daughter and husband got the sandwich on a bagel and I got it on the biscuit. Delicious! We were only disappointed that they are closed on Sunday and couldn’t return for a third visit.

To put it simply, the two Pop’s sandwiches I tried today were the best subs/hoagies I have had in Richmond. As with so many foods, what definitively shoves these culinary delights firmly over the line from great to indispensably excellent is the inclusion of homemade ingredients. The fresh baked bread on all of the sandwiches is instantly impactful on the very first bite and continues to pay dividends of deliciousness to the very end. The hommade Italian sausage on the sub of the same name is juicy, savory, and expertly seasoned. There is also a sprinkling of sauteed veggies which add much appreciated flavor without diluting down the greasy savory wall of meat and cheese that great the pallet of all who partake. The other sandwich I tried was the regular Italian. I was only offered a single bite from my dinning companion. But that lone nibble was enough to convince me that the exceptional quality of the Italian sausage sub was not an isolated incident. The Italian sub was savory, tangy, with a prosciutto and some kind of slaw that both really sing on the pallet. As for the décor, There is a large modern dinner style interior with a lengthy bar/counter, a dozen tables, large bay windows, and a smattering hip/rustic art on the walls. There is also a small boutique grocery(largely wine), a set of fancy leather chairs, and a book case with a minor library. There are also 2 super clean new unisex restrooms. This place defiantly has character, however because of the newness of the establishment it feels more like they sent off for a «our downtown diner character» than they have real character but I expect that to change inevitably over time. The cost of the sandwiches does reflect the quality and in the $ 12 range. So if you are in the mood for a $ 6 hoagie this place may not be for you. All in all this place is great and I highly recommend it. Once I eat there a few more times and further explore the menu I thoroughly expect to be upgrading this to a 5 star review.

I go here on Fridays for their egg and sausage bagel. I maybe a little pricey at 5.01(including tax, license, radio, heater and whitewall tires) but it’s worth it. A real-meal. Lasts me until lunch.

I went to Pop’s for breakfast during the week. I love the big open space and the gigantic windows. Definitely a nice sunny atmosphere when I visited. My friend ordered the frittata, which she seemed to really enjoy. I had the sage sausage, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. It was delicious! And the mimosa(with prosecco on tap) was delicious. I also got a biscuit with jam and the couscous salad to go. Both I’d which were awesome. My only critique would be it may be helpful to have a 2nd person running FOH. The same person was taking orders/ringing you up and running food, which made the line move a bit slowly. Overall, Pop’s market is awesome, and I’m a little jealous that it didn’t exist while I was a student at MCV!

A cute, quaint café on the corner of 5th and Grace St. The atmosphere inside is spacious, clean, and bright. They sell a variety of sandwiches, sides, and pastries. There’s also a small market inside too, with a few shelves stocked with some fresh produce and canned goods, but like Kohlmann’s Market a few blocks down, the groceries inside are a dollar or two more expensive than at Kroger or your other local grocery. The main attraction here is the food for sure. I ordered a homemade raspberry scone for $ 3, which was to die for. Soft on the inside, a little crispy on the outside, subtly sweet with a hint of tang from the fresh raspberries. I have not ordered a sandwich yet, I noticed they were in the $ 10 – 13 range, and they don’t come with a side, which is different from the other lunch places here in Richmond. I have heard their Cuban sandwich was really tasty, so I will definitely give that a try sometime. I only wish I could have a nice cup of coffee or tea to go with the delicious scone, maybe they’ll bring coffee to this place later. But for sure, stop by and try the scones, you’ll love them.

This place hasn’t been open very long but it’s the epitome of a small business restaurant. I was greeted as soon as I waked into the door by several nice folks. I ordered a frittata with sausage added and it was DELICIOUS! Came with 3 toasted slices of what looks like a baguette. All of their bakery items are backed fresh… I took several Everything bagels home for my family!

For a while it felt like there were a dearth of options Downtown, especially during the day, but just over the past few months we’ve welcomed Pops, Vagabond(former Coda), and Belle & James, each with its own charms. As for Pops: 1) The space is long and wide with high ceilings and window perimeter. You can usually choose between a variety of group tables or bar-style chairs, which means it works for group coffee meetings, lunches, single-dining/people watching, or evening happy hours. 2) They have an onsite bakery, and the coffee is simple but good, one pot/one size. 3) The staff is friendly, and knowledgeable about the neighborhood and community. 4) It’s fast-casual but locavore, without feeling like a to-go thruway, so you can sit down for a relaxed hanger-steak date, grab pastries for the office, or pick up bottled wine and dinner to bring home. In general, packaged goods are sourced from the restaurant.

This place was such an amazing find! I’ve been here 3 times in the past 2 months, and I don’t think I’ll get tired of it anytime soon. One thing I love is the way that small businesses in Richmond can completely transform a space. I believe Pop’s Market used to be an old, dilapidated/seemingly abandoned store… but now look at it! It is beautiful inside, with ceiling-to-floor windows and eclectic decorations on the walls(are those bed springs on the walls?!). Its space caters to both small and large groups, especially with the family-style dinner table in the middle of the restaurant. It seems like they make almost everything by scratch(try their baked goods – AMAZING!) and you can definitely feel the love in the place. Customer service is great. On my first visit, I got caught behind several people who had bread orders prepared for them and ended up waiting around 15 minutes for them to finish. The person taking my order acknowledged and apologized for the long wait, which can go a long way in terms of customer service. Then, on my next visit, the woman who served us convinced my friend to have an egg and cheese biscuit, despite being told that my friend stays away from«heavy» foods in the morning. The nice lady offered my friend a different meal if she did not enjoy her egg and cheese biscuit… which was absurd, because my friend fell in love with her meal right away. I have not eaten anything besides breakfast items, so I look forward to coming back for an entrée in the near future. The only thing that I would warn others about this place is that it’s not really«diet friendly,» if you’re looking to stick to your new year resolutions. However, I would highly recommend if you’re in the mood for a delicious treat.

My husband and I have been wanting to try this since it opened. We both grew up in/around Richmond so when we returned to visit family and friends for the Holidays, this was on our list of things to do! The atmosphere and location is wonderful. It’s a minimalist meets rustic vibe but it works and I loved it. It gives you a cozy feeling but is spacious. Service was FANTASTIC. We were greeted as soon as we walked inside! Most importantly: the food was delicious. I had a breakfast sandwich on a biscuit, my husband ordered an everything bagel(homemade) and we shared a blueberry scone. Loved loved loved every single item. Everything is homemade, fresh and absolutely delicious! We definitely look forward to coming back for lunch and/or dinner and to have one of the local Virginia beers on tap and(my favorite) PROSECCO!

This is a fantastic place! The people who work here are pleasant, informative, and polite. There is ample seating and the whole place has a nice, homey, fun feel. The food is wonderful! My boyfriend and I had breakfast. He got the French toast rounds and they are satisfying, not too crunchy or soft, just the right amount of sweet. I got the frittata and it was perfect. Will be coming here again!

I’ve only been here once and i can’t stop thinking about the chicken salad and the tuna salad. Both had the right combination of ingredients, seasoning, and texture. My only regret was ordering a side of bread to try to make a sandwich because both salads taste perfect without it. The dinning style is very casual and relax, the menu is straight forward, they have a descent craft beer selection, and the atmosphere is inviting. The place is farely new but I look forward to coming back and seeing how this place grows.

You cant miss this corner shop off Grace street in the middle of downtown. Just shy of a week being opened and this small market is easily become one of my favorite places. Personally parking can be tricky in downtown business district thats why for me I personally dont venture too far without research but curiosity won . (they’re still working on the website but they do have a facebook and Instagram) The first day I checked out the shop I decided to go with one of the pre-made salads aka tuna. The tuna was a very light and didnt have any mayo just fresh herbs, artichokes, and fresh lemon juice. My meal came with a slice of fresh bread that was perfect for a light lunch . It was so good I came to pops the next am to try the biscuits. I kept on seeing pictures of this glorious item via Instagram and I knew I had to try one. I got the house made sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit and OHHH was it perfect. The biscuit was the perfect ratio of butter to batter and just melted in your mouth. I also tried a some of my friends biscuit and gravy. I dont even like gravy but at Pops you’ll be licking the bowl. They also have fresh oj and local coffee from Rostovos. The market is spacious with plenty of seating for small/large groups .Pops market sells fresh bread made day of as well as some produce items and dry good. With time I am sure Pops will expand the market and menu. The staff is very friendy and welcoming and the food is fresh and delicious with a decent price too!
