Dinner at the bar was awesome. Beth and Austin were very attentive despite being slammed with orders. The food was flawless. The grilled eggplant and zucchini wad delicious. The burger was out of this world. The warm chocolate chip cookie perfect as an ending. The beer flight is a great way to check out the local beers

I have been to Pasture twice, and this place is awesome. They make great cocktails and have good craft beer list. Everything I have had is delicious. The one appetizer that you must get is the smoked ham ribs with Alabama White sauce. Holy moly. You cannot go wrong with any of their entrees — the did just win best steak in Virginia, so if it is the only time that you are going to make it to Pasture I’d say go with that. They use as much local/farm to table food as they can. Plus, it is a local founded and run place.

Had a great dinner here last year when I was in Richmond. I will be sure to go again when I return to the city. Our servers handled our large group with no issues. We were a party of 20 in Richmond for a conference. The servers made sure there were always drinks filled, plates picked up on a timely manner, etc. Even one of the owners came by to check on us. I was first questioning some of the items on the menu but quickly found all of them to be very tasty. The fried pickles and the pimento cheese were great appetizers to start out with, these two things is what I had questioned. Became a fan of both the food and the restaurant.

A little drafty sitting up front on a cold night. But service was great, and the food tasty. Pimento cheese is a must. Burger, very good. Noodle dish was a great twist on southern cuisine, albeit a tad salty. Nice wine by the glass options a decent prices.

I was in downtown Richmond for business and was excited to finally try Pasture. I write this review torn. I found the staff and the craft drinks from the bar to be great, but the food just average. The beef tartare was good and so were the pork ribs. The half chicken was average. The Brussels sprouts, average. The tuna, average. Go there for drinks and a ap… But skip the main course. And if anyone from Pasture reads this, praise your staff, they were great and dim your lights, it was like eating in a airport cafeteria.

Been in twice with my girlfriend on two different dinner occasions… different female servers both times, and both equally talented. You expect to have good service in this«type» of restaurant and it exceeds expectations. Gotta start off by complimenting the color scheme and set up of the gig. It’s lovely. Vibrant, open, seems to breathe life and feels very welcoming. Food was perfect. Wine was great too. We love the simplistic cracker and cheese appetizer, to the garden salad, to the steaks. Everything executed in a nice timely fashion(you could tell they were trying to do it nicely for you). Other perks like the staff boxing up your food and being as accommodating as possible, without rushing you were noticed! We plan on coming back frequently!

Found in Unilocal because we were going to the nutcracker for the night! Wakes in without a reservation and immediately were made to feel like a private guest. Sat down and evjoyed everything we ordered and left wanting to come back as soon as possible! Kid friendly, not too pricy, and definitely fresh fresh fresh! Way to go pasture for keeping Richmond awesome!

Ok so I went here on a weekday after a business meeting at the Downtown Marriott. I have to say I was underwhelmed. The décor is eh and the service for our table was slow. We had to repeatedly ask for drink refills. The pimento cheese was good but not sure it’s worth the rest of the space.

Had a wonderful lunch here this week with my boss and colleague. I eat out a lot for lunch with my job and I must say that this is one of the best experiences I’ve had. Our server was upbeat and knowledgable. The vibe of the place was quirky and fun. The three of us started with the soup of the day. This was my fav part of the meal. Sweet potato soup with bacon and nice thick pieces of dark meat roasted chicken. Hearty yet still light and didn’t fill my tummy up before my main. We all had sammiches and enjoyed them. I had the smoked turkey(two days before thanksgiving lol) with arugula, fresh tomatoes and a super yummy guacamole mayo. I ordered it with house made chips. We left satisfied and jealous that we don’t have a place this cool in W-burg.

Meh. Nothing on the entrée menu inspired me too much to return. Hipster, meet Southern, meet Swedish interior design, meets trying slightly too hard. Appetizers: The pimento cheese($ 5) and Ritz was great! The fried pickles($ 6) were calling my name, but unfortunately no one else in my group wanted to order them. I didn’t really care for the pickled vegetables($ 5), but I think that’s more a matter of personal preference. A pickled beet is a pickled beet after all. The pumpkin hummus with jicama was just okay. It was my first experience with jicama, which tasted like a potato crossed with an apple, and it wouldn’t be my first choice. The pumpkin hummus was a bit unmemorable. The grilled zucchini was also a bit unremarkable as well. Maybe being from the South, these just all seemed like dishes I could prepare myself at home. The service was fine. At 5:45 on a Wednesday, there was a good crowd congregating around the bar, but the tables were empty short of our group of nine. There were great long tables that would accommodate large parties. It wasn’t a bad experience, but for the price of entrees(~$ 25), I wasn’t blown away. I would certainly return if suggested by a friend, but I won’t be running back. By all means, go, check it out, it’s just not making it’s way to my list of favorites.

Last night I was put out to pasture, where I grazed on what Chef Jason Alley put out for me. The Vibe: Locals. Lots of them lining up to eat in an unfinished large storage unit. Minimalist Danish Modern collides with Melrose Ave Chic. Think Hong Kong Loncheria with no Chinese food. The Staff: Effortlessly smiling and endlessly hard working. The Cocktail Program: Vicious and delicious. Up to par with any drinkorium in LA or New York. Have a Brightwood: Copper Fox Rye, Mint Syrup, Celery Shrub, Lemon Juice, Grapefruit Cider. It sounded like a shaker full of what didn’t sell the week before, but it was balanced, refreshing and belonged in a Chalice. I didn’t want to play favorites so I also had A Bermuda Hundred: Continental Gin, Compari, Orgeat,(almond syrup), Pineapple, and Lime Juice. Two of these and Grant would have slept through Appomattox and surrendered to Lee when he came to. The Vittles: Just like the rolling hills of Virginia. Ups an downs. The Black Eyed Pea Falafel with Cucumber Sauce were crunchy golf balls that needed another mini-ball of chili, but even though they could have used some heat there were only a few crumbs left for me to poke my finger at when the dust cleared. The Chopped Salad… should be chopped. It was a tease. The two ground Spanish Peanuts were hidden under the Romaine that had escaped from a Caesar where they belong. The bits of Pickled Onions whispered«Ya shoulda just ordered the Bowl of Pickled Vegetables». The Pimento Cheese Ranch Dressing was thinner than Sarah Palin’s list of periodicals she reads. The Fried Clams were hot, crisp, and clammy. I couldn’t wait for the Acid Reflux to kick in so I could enjoy them all over again, they were that good. Served with house made Tartar Sauce they were stickin’ their little clam tongues out at Connie and Ted’s in Hollywood. The Crispy Ham Cured Pork Ribs with Alabama White Sauce at first were strange. Not ham and not ribs. Then the light went on. I came to the light and realized they were simply magnificent. Just as advertised. Think small bone-in ham steaks. At first I thought they had enough chew to qualify as a puppy toy, but that was just the wonderful unique bark surrounding each, meaty, hammy, porky, rib layin ’ in a Vinegar Mayo that would have had Bob Gibson yellin’ «That’s what Alabama gave the World, y’all». House made noodles(Papardelle) with Red Chili Ragout, Pecorino Cheese, and Cilantro was just as good as the description sounds. Scott Conant and Mario Batali would have licked their bowls, and their whiskers. Dessert: The Chocolate Peanut Bar was a chocolate ganache draped over a block of Peanut Butter Mousse dog paddling in a puddle of Caramel and topped with Peanut Brittle. Not good if you have a peanut allergy and even if you don’t it could lead you to the edge of Stage One Diabetes. Think dense Reese’s…on steroids. Everything here is locally sourced. This place deserves more attention and should be on every foodie’s radar. Hopefully, with a few tweaks and maybe this review the tour buses will line up to let their passengers off to run wild in Pasture.

I really enjoyed this place. The bartender makes awesome cocktails. There are a few things on the menu that I have had, & I have enjoyed them all. The burger is a great go to, but let’s talk about the pimento cheese. They bring Ritz crackers out in a little paper bag to go along with the cheese. It’s a great shareable appetizer, and if you have eaten your Ritz crackers, just like a soft drink they will bring you a refill. The service was good, they took their time to explain what’s on the menu. Its right up the street from Rappahannock, so if you want a quick fancy drink, I would definitely swing by

Let me start with what I don’t like about Pasture: Now that that’s out of the way, let me write about what I do like. Exceptionally good service, exceptionally good food, and exceptionally good drinks. We have never been to Pasture where we did not have fantastic food and service. Here are a couple of examples: 1) The day before our wedding. Although they were very busy, we got a table for us and our families even though we didn’t have reservations. Everyone commented on how great their food was and what a great choice it was. Also, when they found out it was a pre-wedding dinner, they comped a bottle of champagne to the table. 2) Right before our third wedding anniversary we decided to have a drink at the bar. They were closing early because of the UCI bike races, but let us in anyway since we only wanted one drink at the bar. Well, not only did they stay past that one drink, they even brought us out a small desert, on the house, since we had come back. While there, a tourist in town for the races came in wanting some food. Even though they had closed the kitchen, they prepared him a full entrée off the menu. Now, most places would have told him, «Sorry.» Not Pasture. Those are just a couple of examples of the several times we have been there, and are indicative of every experience. Pasture is as good as it gets.

Rare roast beef and pimento cheese have been some of my favorites. Casual dining in the city and great beer selection. Outdoor dining as well. Great for lunch too!

My mother and I had a fantastic meal, sitting on the patio of this restaurant and people watching. We unknowingly came on a night where they were giving a portion of proceeds to a charity, which also meant they created this curious little blue drink that turned out to be the drink highlight of my trip. Imagine sparking wine, grapefruit, bitters, and a piece of blue cotton candy that you drop inside. It sounds strange, doesn’t it? It’s not. It’s amazing and they should add it to their menu. I realized as soon as I began this review that I gave«best dish» status to another restaurant in error. The red chili pork ragout over house made noodles was the winner, hands down. It reminded me of a delicious veal osso bucco, but with a midwestern spin, like pork osso bucco stroganoff. The meat was fall apart tender, the sauce was spot on, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. I wish I could have this meal every week, but alas, I don’t live in Virginia. My mother ordered the pork chop and replaced the side with smashed potatoes. The potatoes were gone before I even started my food! She said the pork chop was surprisingly tender and juicy, with a very nice sauce. We rounded out the meal with a dessert we weren’t even hungry for, but devoured all the same. The 7-up lemon cake with key lime icing was something to write home about. The service was nicely paced for a restaurant of this price and caliber. We didn’t feel rushed, but we didn’t feel forgotten either. She was really helpful with suggestions for drinks and food, and knew the menu well enough to answer questions about certain ingredients. We were so pleased with our time here, I hope we can return someday.

Just finished a meal at Pasture. The service was amazing! I wish I remembered our servers name because she deserved every tip. The bartender, when asked, was able to pair a drink with my meal, and the pairing was spot on. My dish of the house made noodles and shrimp was nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. At my table however, there was compliant about the pork chop being too salty. :/BUT! The burger got nothing but praises(which I had a bite of and they weren’t lying). Now, my only complaint was dessert. The Big Chip is a large chocolate chip cookie with milk. The cookie itself, while the taste was nice, the cookie was hard and a tad burnt on the bottle. The milk was so creamy and delicious. So if anything get The Big Chip for the milk. Overall definitely a place to go to. P. S. Seems to be busiest after 7 or 8(ish)pm

One of Richmond’s many 4 star restaurants. Of the four meals at our table, two were very good and two were fair. The mushroom and burger entrees had a lot going on flavor wise. The pork chop was a bit dry and lacked interest. The seafood and pasta was not seasoned well. Our service was excellent. No «wow» factor to make it a 5 star. Probably a top 50 establishment but not top ten.

My boyfriend and I had a reservation for dinner on a Friday night, it wasn’t too crowded, but it was still busy. The service was great, our server was very attentive and patient. I loved the atmosphere, the restaurant was very clean and the décor was very cute and unique. Food was amazing! I definitely recommend the fried pickle chips if you’re a fan of pickles. We also had the red wine jelly pork meatballs, which were very good, but nothing too special. My boyfriend had the Country Captain(½ a roasted chicken, rice, gravy, green beans) — it was very tender and flavorful, but a bit greasy. I had the Country-Fried mushroom(with mashed potatoes, broccolini, and gravy) — this dish was very tasty, nothing like a country-fried vegetable. Overall, it was a great meal and no complaints at all.

This was my second visit to Pasture but the first time I sat down for dinner instead of just having drinks at the bar. There is definitely a young professional presence from the nearby offices so that must mean it’s a fun place to hang after work. We started with the ham and cheddar croquettes and you can’t go wrong there. Nice crispy fried outside with soft and delicious filling. For my meal I got the burger… But let’s not stop there, it was one of the best burgers I’ve had. They make their own pickles and there is a «special sauce» that is so good. I asked for it medium and it was more well done, but it wasn’t tough at all and melted in my mouth so I couldn’t even complain! The heaping side of fries were skinny, salty, and crispy, just how I like them. My friend got the pan roasted pork chop with cheddar scallion spoonbread. Even though the people at the next table sent their pork chops back to be cooked a little longer, he did not have any issues with with his and in fact said it was very good and he would definitely get it again.

I was introduced to this place by a friend who wanted to go to their HH which is form 5−7pm. They have drink specials as well has ½ off their small plates. We got their beer flights which is 3, 5 ounce samples of any of their beers on tap for $ 5. Pretty much every beer they list is on tap which was nice to have such a selection. For their snacks, I have really enjoyed their fried pickles, pimento cheese with Ritz crackers, the salt and vinegar pork rinds. When I came back her with my boyfriend, I also tried their pork chop with spoon bread and green beans. I still don’t really know what spoon bread is, but we really liked it. We also requested that our chop be cooked to a medium and it came out perfectly. It was delicious! We also tried the candy bar dessert which isn’t jarringly sweet as I had expected. It’s a nice dark chocolate mousse encased in a dark chocolate shell. The almond brittle that accompanied it was really yummy.
