came here last week while waiting for my windows to be tinted across the street. The people at the counter were really nice and friendly. I got a cheese dog and curly fries. They both were real good. Food came out quick. Interior of the place is in desperate need of and upgrade but as long as the food is good i cant complain to much. Will definitly be back. I wana try one of their burgers

Weird vibe. Not too flavorful food. A customer started yelling at the owner telling him he’s a «cheapskate» and never tips the girl who works there. Felt like my fries were frozen at one point. Whether or not they actually were is besides the point — tasted like they were. Wouldn’t go back. Got a cheeseburger and fries.

Typical Hamburger/Hot Dog restaurant. The décor is awful; there’s holes in the sofa and there’s mismatch furniture. The food is bland. We ordered a hamburger, fries and a Pepsi and the best tasting out of this group is the Pepsi. The hamburger was nicely assembled with toasted buns, fresh lettuce and tomato(they forgot the ketchup so she gave us small packets); but the meat was bland. no taste. The fries, they simply forgot to add salt. Price wise, it’s reasonable but the 1⁄3 pound hamburger is not really worth $ 5.00

Good food. Pricey for what it is. $ 9.65 for a bacon cheeseburger and fries WITHOUT A DRINK? FOH ., Maybe I’m just just cheap but that should be like $ 7 – 8TOPS

We usually hit Red Onion when we’re too lazy to cook, but we just got a dog who is totally codependent on us(or… is it the other way around?) and have been on the hunt for places where we can dine with her. I had noted the huge sign in the window announcing Burgers! Shakes! Breakfast!, and had also noted that it’s A FREAKIN’ AWESOMETRIANGULARBUILDING and yet not a weiner schnitzel’s. So my daughters and I checked it out recently and we are definitely big fans. First of all, the people who work there are friendly, sweet, and helpful. The burgers are terrific. The shakes are shakes(you really can’t go wrong with a shake). And we can sit outside with the dog and chow down. Is San Pablo Avenue the most beautiful view? No. But you do see the hills up behind it, and it’s set back enough from the sidewalk for a decent experience. I’m just dinging it for one star because I went this morning and wanted pancakes and eggs. They have pancakes, and they have eggs as part of another dish, but I was not able to get pancakes with a side of eggs, which is one of my pet peeves.(Cue Jack Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces.) So they just lost one little star, but basically that’s just me being a dick, you should totally go there.

I’ve been coming to Pup Hut since I was a kid in the 80’s and have always been happy with their quality-miles ahead of Caspers! The only other place that’s better is Parker’s Hot Dogs in Roseville!

Amazing juicy well and neatly made cheeseburgers, fresh ingredients, awesome crispy fries. It puts In and Out’s soggy and greasy burgers to shame. The only downside of this place is the price for a meal. Cheeseburger, Fries and a Coke cost me $ 8.00! wtf?! This place is in a run down neighborhood and doesn’t have a very nice looking dining area. This is a place that I’d definitely have to think twice about going(because of the price) but if I do go, I’m sure it would be enjoyable every time. The burgers are that good!

This is a place that I have come to every now and then for a hot dog for years. Since the the change in ownership, all I can say is «WOW!!!» The place looks the same, but the food is great. They make some great burgers. The thing I love the best is the steak sandwich. The meat is always fresh as well as the topping that they use. The hot dogs are steamed as well as the hot links, but they will ask you if you want the hot link on the grill. I recommend that you do. The grill is what makes this place so unique. They use mesquite wood on their grill that gives everything cooked on it a very distinct, sweet and savory mouth watering flavor. You can actually smell the aroma in the parking lot before you enter. They also prepare breakfast food as well. The breakfast burrito is very good. They use the meat of your choice, then add grilled red and green bell peppers, egg, potatoes, and cheese. Last but not least, the shakes are outstanding. They are so thick and creamy. They go well with anything you order. I really enjoy the Pup Hut. It’s roots are based in the past. That’s what makes it so special. It’s not trying to be something that it’s not. It’s not trying to be like everyone else. It has it own vintage feel that makes you remember when you were kid sitting at the counter of booth have a shake that you had to hold with two hands and the burger you had to get cut in half to enjoy it. I’ve read some of the reviews that have been left about the Hut. All I can say is it’s one of the city’s diamond in the ruff. It’s one of Richmond’s best keep secrets. I almost hate giving the review because I want to keep it all to myself, lol. The staff is very friendly and makes sure that you have everything you need. If you want to have a not-so-fast-food experience that serves hot dogs, good tasty burger, hot links, and steak sandwiches cooked over mesquite. Drop by the Pup Hut.

Pup Hut only resembles a shorten blue wienerschnitzel. indoor seating limited to the grill seats and a few tables. Menu: burgers, fries, dogs, breakfast(pancake), tamales, chips, combos, etc. eats: hot dog(3)no tax –usual condiments with soft bun –dog, no snap. all beef juicy, miller’s as someone mentioned. –dog is also ran, not comparable with caspars. 2.5 stars crumbs: –friendly, fast service –amply parking in lot –cash only?

This place has amazing hot dogs, and it’s not some crappy processed bullshit like at Wienersnitzel, the Koreans that own the place and used to staff it where spectacular in their service, the Mexican ladies that they hired out are okay but kinda stupid and unwilling to acculture which leads to crappy customer service, and mind you I speak perfect Spanish, unfortunately for them I speak it better than they do and they can’t understand me because they speak Spanglish only. But mediocre service will never trump great dogs even if the ordering process can get a little convoluted.

An extra star because I don’t agree with the other review. Pup Hut serves steamed Miller’s hot dogs which is about what everyone in the East Bay serves. So that rates 3 three stars for average. . The place is clean but worn. It has been there a while. The owner cooked for years at Al’s Big Burgers and is a hamburger master. He bought Pup Hut about two years ago. The burgers are cooked on mesquite. They serve tamales which are ok, but there are better in the area. Pup Hut is really a three star place. Just wanted to average out the rating.

OKOK I’ll admit I’m not a REAL hot dog fan but I do like a good dog every now and then… Sadly I didn’t get one here! They serve burgers, hot dogs and the typical fare… fries, ice cream, shakes, chips, smoothies, veggie burgers, etc… This is no superstar place. Small, semi clean… Can be a bit loud and crazy at times… Prices are about normal for the east bay… Can’t give it more than two stars… its just an ordinary place.
