Great burgers and fries but a burger, fries, and drink will cost you $ 13 lol

Great burgers and Shakes however the service is terrible. Expect to wait a while for your food. Not the place to come on a short lunch break from work.

To me, Roy’s is just okay. It can be a VERY long wait, especially at peak hours, and I never really feel like the food is worth it. At any rate, it is a Lakeside staple and it always feels good to support a local business. Give it a try.

Its a greasy burger joint that keeps me coming back. Don’t expect friendly service at the window counter, not rude but just not friendly either. I usually get a burger(I do like the Bama Stinger sometimes) and some O rings. The last time I got a bologna burger that wasn’t cooked to the crispy state I asked for. Usually a line but they are quick.

This is a great neighborhood walkup burger joint with some decent outdoor seating. I don’t eat burgers, but the fish sandwiches are great. The banana shakes are yummy. Walk up, order, and step aside and chat with new friends as you wait. This is a snob-free zone. Enjoy.

Road side burger stand been satisfying folks since before any of the complainers here turned up their noses to their first unchilled Pellegrino. If your food needs to be a social marker or «from New Zealand» then you ain’t gonna like this or probably anything. This is a place your grandfather ordered a double stack with bacon. You should too. Caveat: most of the sides are mediocre. People who eat sides with triple stack burgers are weird anyway.

An old burger joint that probably brings back good ol’ childhood memories for those who grew up decades ago before our now plentiful fast food choices. But for me, meh. I ordered the cheeseburger with everything on it & chilli cheese fries. The burger patty was incredibly thin for the price. Not a horrible cheeseburger, but one that has you thinking, ‘why didn’t I go to any other fast food joint?’ as your chewing looking at the cars at the auto shop next door. The portion of the chilli cheese fries was nice. But it was bland. No salt on the fries, no seasoning in the chilli. I warn you, you will be here chewing the food but thinking of the many different places you could’ve had a better cheese burger or whatever you ordered. The service is good and relatively quick.

First of all, this is a legit burger STAND. As in you walk up to it, order, and sit at picnic tables to eat, or take it home. The menu is limited to doing a few things just right, and its been there for over 50 years. Jag and I both got double cheeseburgers with extra cheese and bacon. They were perfect. Honestly the chili chili cheese fries that we split was overkill and we couldnt finish them. —- The burger was PERFECT. I know that in past reviews I’ve complained about burgers not being cooked to my liking, but thats a different school of thought in terms of burger joints. These burgers are«smashed» and served well done and greasy. To order ‘all the way’ means mustard, ketchup, onions, lettuce, pickles, and a tomato. Thats what we did, and it rocked. I will say that ordering the extra cheese was a good idea, as no matter how many patties you order there is only one slice of cheese. The extra slice evened things out and made it perfect. The double patty was also a good idea, as these patties are smashed and thin. Order a double cheeseburger with bacon(they HEAP it on) and extra cheese, you wont be sad. So good. Chili cheese fries. PERFECT. Honestly the fries seemed a bit soggy and bland without anything on it, but it was soooooo good with the chili and cheese! The chili was beanless and well seasoned — not overwhelming. A must try. — — — — – This place is within walking distance of my house, but I would drive at least 10 – 15 minutes to go there. Not 30, but maybe 20. I will be craving this place now. I enjoy it so much! Really a throwback experience. Next time I’ll be ordering a chili dog, as the chili we got on the fries would be perfect on a coney dog. Take relatives here. PS — - This place does breakfast and I will be going ASAP! One sad thing is they close daily at 5.

So believe me I am always in the game for a good burger… Roy’s was recommended by a friend… The burger is pretty good. No doubt I will return for Roy’s Big Burger another day. Small old school stand with outside patio but seats outside are limited. Just the right combo of greasy and good tasting beef. Patties are a bit small so you have to at least get the double! American Cheese only. My guest had the CornDog and Fries. Wasn’t happy. The 3 stars is for the burger only. This Lakeside treasure has been here for many many years. Pros: Solid Burger Cons: Styrofoam cups Lack of seating Lack of outside trashcan attention

Roy’s burger was a quick stop for my 30 minute lunch. The burgers are really underwhelming size wise, they smell and taste good, The bun was quite dry and the patty almost inexcusable small. Taste wise though it was good enough for gov’t work,(as my husband would say) I also tried the onion rings because I had been craving onions. They tasted like bread with a little onion favoring. I was bummed! Seems They must freeze their onions, sucking all the flavor from them. The only thing I tasted was the breading, don’t think what you’re getting is fresh. You’d be crazy wrong. Would I eat there again? Nah, my 8 bucks is better off in my pocket instead of theirs. 4 outta 10 stars. Boo.

If you go to Roy’s Big Burger, go there because you appreciate a local Lakeside institution that has been putting out good old’ fashion fast food for over 50+ yrs. It’s a love for us all.

The main appeal of Roy’s to me is the history. The food was pretty good not fantastic. Price was a bit on the high side but not bad for a non-chain establishment. I don’t think I would make it a destination but if you’re in the Lakeside area, it’s worth stopping. I live in the neighborhood behind Roy’s and I will be back.

Richmond burger«dive» that’s been around a long time. Thin patty style burger on a thin oversize bun. Get it «all the way» with mustard, mayo, diced onions, lettuce, tomato. The onions and lettuce give it that great crunch. Nothing over the top, but a solid dive-type burger joint, with outdoor seating only.

By no means was this a bad burger but I’m really just unimpressed. It’s definitely got that burger shack appeal that I was hoping for, but the overall experience is really just sort of boring. The best burger shack in America is still Ted Peter’s in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Pretty mediocre. The burgers are thin and perfectly round, like a food service or Kings Dominion burger. My bf just commented, as we sit here and eat this in the car, «too much bread». He said the onions were perfect though. The sweet tea is watery and not sweet. The service was very friendly, but some of their burger prices are too much for the small pattys. I’d try this place, you might feel differently but it’s not five guys. There are no tables or seats. It literally us a walk up window.

Roy’s is a hamburger stand(yes, a stand) in Lakeside that appears to have been around forever… in the 3 years I’ve lived in Lakeside, I have only visited a handful of times(hamburgers aren’t necessarily something I want as a staple in my diet) but every time has been a real treat… Roy’s is a classic example of a local fast food chain. You walk up to the window and place your order, they make it in the back, and they send it out to you in a paper bag. I like to stick with a good old-fashioned hamburger– a little American cheese, lettuce/tomato, mustard/ketchup/mayo, and some pickles. I think Roy’s makes their burgers fresh(though I haven’t asked) and their toppings are all really fresh as well. I usually get a single cheeseburger but my husband gets a double… both are much much better than anything you get at McDonalds. And pretty much the same price. And yes, they do more than just hamburgers. They do hot dogs and fries :) And breakfast… I am pretty sure I saw a sign for a porkroll sandwich, which I haven’t tried but if porkroll is your thing, I bet they do it well.

Roy’s Big Burger is an original. It has been doing the same quality burgers for over 50 years. I go out of my way to stop there… enough said!!!
