I’m a fan because they’ve got great lunch deals on bento boxes and sushi! I usually try new sushi rolls every time I go, but I can’t resist rejecting a bento box! Their salmon bento box is delicious and for the price, you really get a lot of food. They don’t have anything extra-ordinary in terms of flavors, but they do produce decent food!

I wish I could write a review for the food but unfortunately after waiting to be seated for what seemed like forever! I mean we weren’t even greeted by anyone after 5 minutes of just standing standing at the front door. Then after another 20 minutes of sitting and reading the menu no one even took our drink order, I decided to get up and leave to Sticky Rice on Main St.(Which was FABULOUS!).

Not your usual Sakura restaurant. They don’t cook hibachi in front of you. The dinner sushi special is 2 rolls for 8.99 and 3 rolls for 12.99. The atmosphere is casual. The service is decent. They aren’t very accomodating with substitutions. When we ordered sushi they had run out of some of the fish.

Great sushi at a reasonable price. The customer service was great, but it wasn’t very crowded during our visit. Our food came out in 10 – 15 minutes and our drinks were always full. It’s very unassuming from outside, but we were pleasantly surprised by the look of the sushi bar when we came in. We will definitely be back!

I’m sorry that I’ve driven by this place for two years assuming it would be crummy. It is not, and I will be back. I had a lovely salmon bento box for lunch, which was miso soup, salad, teriyaki salmon with veggies, rice, wontons, and California roll – $ 8.95. An excellent lunch for a reasonable price. I look forward to going with a group to try tons of sushi.

I’m no sushi expert, but this place was pretty damn good. It’s not in the best area and the décor is pretty basic for your average sushi restaurant, but you went here to eat, right? So let’s talk about the food. They do lunch specials every day where you can choose two rolls for $ 9 or three for $ 12, but if you’re really hungry, you can buy three regular priced rolls and get the fourth free! They also have hibachi, but it isn’t cooked in front of you like Kabutos. I should also add that the lunch specials are served with a ginger salad and soup, but you still have to buy your own drink. I settled for my favorite(a volcano roll) and since I was hungry, decided to try something new. I opted for a second roll with tempura fried shrimp and fresh mango slices on top. Wow! The mango was so fresh and tasted great with the shrimp. Check it out if you’re around. I’m glad I did. B

I found this place due to its closeness to The National where I was heading to a concert. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful and we were seated right away. Their sushi special rolls all sounded amazing and it was hard to pick just a few. We ended up splitting 4 rolls(buy three get the fourth free!) and some Kani salad and it was more than enough food. The fish in the rolls were super fresh and sizable portions. I certainly got my money’s worth. I would come here again next time I am in Richmond.

Yes they do have Hibachi and it is one of the best around Downtown Richmond The personal is friendly but they rotate a lot, they serve you soup and salad with the Hibachi good portions like to take ½ home after salad and soup. I usually get the Hibachi chicken but had try the steak and it is as good as the chicken one. fast service compare to other japanese restaurants, we have 1 hour lunch and we are able to go to this place and come back on time to 5th street. Co worker and I come here often.

Great, great sushi. I really enjoyed the variances they had and different styles, it was refreshing. Got 3 rolls and then 1 was free. When our plate came it was a massive smörgåsbord of colors and flavors. Had the Power, Aron, Hot Boy, and shrimp Tempura. The Aron took the cake. Great texture and combination of spices and freshness. Power was a good roll too and had slivers of filet mignon on it. Overall great taste, good value for how much you get and great service.

Great deal for lunch. They have the lunch special EVERYDAY! You get miso soup, a salad with a ginger dressing, and a choice of 2 rolls or 3 rolls. 2 rolls will cost you $ 7.99 while 3 rolls will cost you $ 11.99. I would recommend the shrimp tempura roll. The spicy tuna roll was just ok. Our server didn’t seem very happy to be at work. I know no one really wants to work but at least pretend to be happy or something! I’d probably come back only for the lunch special.

When we arrived there were a couple of other people in the restaurant. We were greeted promptly and sat in the main dining area as we wanted sushi. The staff was very friendly, the restaurant was clean and the ambiance was good. We ordered sushi and dinner plates(mine was a bento box). The food was excellent. From the miso soup and salad to the sushi rolls and out dinners. Everything was cooked perfectly. Will definitely go again(very soon).

If you want quick sushi at a good price and the quality is pretty decent then look no further than Sakura! I have been here a few times when I was going to VCU for my undergrad. It’s only a few blocks away from Monroe Park Campus and easily accessible by foot. I came here with a couple friends recently. It’s located in a small shopping where the Kroger is. Interior is pretty drab looking and kinda just brings the mood down. Our server didn’t seem like he wanted to be there at all as far as tone/body language but was able to give us decent service. I got two orders of Salmon Sashimi and one Philly roll. The food came out in about 10 minutes or so and our food came out together which I appreciated. All of my sushi tasted good/expected. The salmon was sliced thick so I knew i got my moneys worth. My total was 15 dollars which is cheaper than I would have paid at some other places. The only downside is that there is strong/distinct smell of either paint thinner or nail polish. I think my companions liked their food only because they didn’t say anything about not enjoying their meal. Still hungry? Walk to Sugar Shack which is only one block away!

Decided to try this place out after moving downtown recently. It satiated my sushi craving for the most part. I came with my fiancé and thank goodness cause I can’t imagine going with anyone else cause the atmosphere is incredibly dark and borderline romantic. Waitress came to our table literally a minute after being seated asking if we were ready to order. Happened a good couple of times every 2 minutes afterward.(We weren’t ready yet incase you were wondering). Ordered the Sashimi appetizer, Pretty good, nothing to complain about. Tasted fresh and above everything that’s the most important when eating sushi. Ordered numerous rolls, one including a salmon roll and either the order got messed up cause there was definitely something on there other than Salmon. My fiancé got the udon noodle dish and that was actually really really good. I would come back here if someone I was with really wanted to go, but not before trying every other sushi place in the area that I haven’t tried. Not the best sushi I’ve had by far but I didn’t hate it. I disliked the super dark environment way more than anything.

Décor in dining area very pleasant along with soothing music. Nice atmosphere. Men’s room smelled like a latrine. Server had to be reminded to bring one of the salads. Bento box came, but server had to be reminded that a Miso soup and salad came with it. Pretty standard combo. Sushi orders arrived, but one roll was missing. Please keep in mind the place was less than half full so I can’t explain these issues. Sushi itself was very generous in portion size, but the taste was bland. Prices were reasonable. If I were a college student I might go back again for that reason. Plenty of outdoor parking which was convenient.

Worst customer service I have EVER personally experienced. They are so utterly cheap and stingy… especially about sauces. I will never be back there again. They were extremely rude to me and my friends and they definitely do not have a clear understanding of what it means to be polite to their guests. When asking for sauce while dining there they told us no and that we should not ask again. So if y’all want sauce with your meal don’t go here!!! I usually never get upset about slow/bad service but this was a level of rudeness I have never experienced.

Average food small portions. The place is really big but there weren’t many people on the Sunday night that I came here. I wasn’t too hungry, so I just wanted to try their salmon roll. The server was very nice, but she convinced me to get another roll to make it a combo. The salad and soup were basic. The salmon and yellow tuna rolls come in a flower with the ones on the outside cut on a slant, which makes them look bigger than they actually are. With simple rolls, you can tell the quality of the fish easily and they were average. All together, $ 12. Ambiance & Service 4⁄5 Food 3⁄5 Value 1⁄5
