As a person who grew up in the middle east, I don’t think the food is that good. I must admit it’s not bad though for RVA, which seriously lacks a good middle eastern food scene.

Awful customer service! Tried to order for the first time today and asked for delivery. They mistakenly put it as pick up. When I tried to ask them to change it to delivery(which is what I originally requested) they told me it was not possible to change it. Won’t be trying to order again.

I have ordered beef and lamb shawarma plate and chicken shawarma plate. The beef shawarma is not good don’t order this dish. The beef was not tender. It was dry and some parts are burned. The chicken shawarma was very good but the salad doesn’t look fresh.

First thing I wanted to say: the staff is made up of some of the nicest, most kind-hearted people I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to. On to how this experience went… So we ordered delivery from Shawarma Shack on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered online and it gave us a time everything should be delivered. That time came and passed but we patiently waited since it was Saturday and they were probably busy. After a full hour passed, I called to see if our order was at least on its way. I was told it was so I waited. Food did arrive 1 hour and 10 min after ordering. I brushed it off. No problem. The only complaints about the delivery experience? I found it irritating that their delivery fee is $ 2.99 and then they force you to add an 18% tip. I tip anyway but to be MADE to tip? That’s annoying. Also, there’s no option to pay cash. They make you use credit card… The food was alright. I had ordered lamb kabsa when ordering online but then got a call a few min later saying that they don’t serve that anymore. They said that the company through which I placed the order would refund the money I paid for it within a few business days. No big deal. On to the shawarma’s… The shawarma’s are smaller than any shawarma I have ever had. They were pretty messy too, like they were put together hastily. My friends and I ordered a total of 5 shawarma’s, all different. I wish they would have labeled which was which so we didn’t have to go through each one to figure out whose was whose… Also, they forgot one of the drinks, but the delivery driver came back to bring it. Not only did they send the drink they forgot, they sent TWO of them along with baklava. Needless to say, I was happy! I also ordered a desert called kanafa… It was unlike any kanafa I had ever had… Not in a good way… I didn’t eat it… Overall, Shawarma Shack is a decent place and I will be ordering from here again.

We ordered from them for the first time while we were at Triple Crossing Brewery. The food was great! The order was slightly messed up, but we didn’t realize it of course until after the delivery driver left. But, I will definitely order from them again. I love shawarmas!

HORRIBLE! Took an hour and a half to arrive. Manager accused me of inputting wrong phone number but I just checked and everything is correct. The food was mediocre at best. Will definitely not order again. Manager could have at least apologized and offered a partial refund if not a full one. Order was supposed to take 45 minutes and when I called at an hour the driver had not even left yet.

Solid shawarma and french fries. I’m so addicted to their fries because of the seasoning and crunchiness. My friend took me out and ordered me chicken shawarma, fries and a drink. I chose their sweet-tea and it reminded me of this filipino jello syrup, My favorite! I’d honestly go back and order their iced-tea any day! The shawarma was good, a little dry and needed some sauce but other than that, It’s a winner. Try it, plus they are clean, efficient and friendly!

This restaurant went through a bit of a rough patch when they first opened. The service was poor and the food was mediocre. But boy has that changed. This place is legit. One of the only legitimate Middle Eastern restaurants in Richmond. I think that most of the poor reviews are due to the general lack of knowledge of Arab food by the General Richmond population. As some one who has travelled a good deal throughout the Arab world I can tell you this place is good. I usually get the lamb shawarma or the felafel wrap. Both are good. But above everything this place is worth a visit for their fresh brewed Turkish coffee. They make it the authentic way over an open flame. And believe me not only is it strong it’s delicious. Their freshly squeezed juices are also worth a try.

I got the basic chicken shawarma to try for the first time and unfortunately I couldn’t even finish it because it was so bad. There was barely any flavor and/or sauce, the chicken was dry, and as this was the first time I tried shawarma, I was just confused. It was just dry chicken, fries, and bits of lettuce and pickles inside the wrap. This could have been user error since I’m new to shawarma, but I didn’t realize there would be pickles, and I hate pickles, so it was ruined. I’ll take the blame for that, but even if there weren’t pickle bits, it still would have been bland and unenjoyable. I definitely won’t be eating here again, and I’m hoping the next restaurant to take its place will be better, since this location has been a rotating door since I moved to Richmond over three years ago.

I visited this place again today. Nice ambience. Hookah had limited flavors to choose from and service was a little slow but overall it was a good experience. Shawarma shacks chicken shawarma and falafel got me addicted. Really wonderful food. If you don’t want to get the full sandwich for falafel. They can give falafel sides as well. I highly recommend the tahini sauce and falafel.

This is the 2nd time I’ve ordered delivery and they’ve botched my order. 1st time they forgot one of my items. This time I ordered milkshakes and regular sized fries. I got the order and the fries were a small cup for $ 4.50 plus tax?! Are you kidding me??? $ 5.00 for a cup of premade/prepackaged spiral fries. Never ordering from here again.

I hate giving bad reviews, but this place was truly terrible. The meat was akin to dog food(my friend’s words, not mine), as it was dry and extremely overcooked. The pitas were tough, as though they gave us week-old pitas. The hummus was decent, the curly fries were ok(great seasoning, but too soft), and the stuffed grape leaves were ok. My friend and I agree that the bad meat makes none of the better aspects of our meal redeamable in any sense. We will NOT be eating here again.

The shawarma was terrible! The meat was dry and poorly seasoned, if at all and not fresh. The parsley was not even chopped up for the«salad» and the freakin bread… was the worst! …bread!?! It was dry thin and cold like paper like worst than a store brand pita bread two weeks old. All of our meals(6) were very bad like they gave us old food. The meat was sooo dry I nearly choked. Everybody had to douse there food with hot sauce I asked for a sauce but all the sauce in the world would not have changed the fact the meat was so bad. i was so mad we spent a grip of money there. I mean I had no idea it would be that bad! The beef tasted gamey, not in a fresh meat good way either! We’ve been to plenty of places with similar cuisine but the garbage they’re serving was insulting to consumers, shows a lack of pride for their product and no where near authentic. Also the iced tea containers are not cleaned. I pulled a thick rubbery clot out of the dispenser… gross! The ice cream dispenser is likely more nasty!

Small portion for an 11 dollar platter. The shawarma was seasoned well but was dry and average tasting. Perhaps the sandwiches are better deals

Very friendly, welcoming staff. Clean place. I was excited to try this place out as I have walked past it a couple of times and just never went in. The portion sizes were incredible. Definitely worth the price. When my boyfriend and I got home we were kind of disappointed that everything looked like it was just kinda soaked in grease. Maybe that’s how Mediterranean food is? I don’t know, not an expert. I couldn’t even bring myself to eat half of my order. I may give this another try but it might be a while.

After a couple of trips to Detroit, the city of shawarma suprisingly, I have been on a constant hunt in RVA for some good shawarma. I believe I have just found my fix :) I like to think of this little gem as a Lebanese Chipotle?(Lol) Staff is pretty friendly and pretty lenient when it comes to subbing out ingredients. I have only come for the chicken shawarma which comes stuffed with the traditional items like the pickles, french fries, lettuce, and garlic sauce. I like to subtract the fries(to make myself feel better) and add onions and the pickled turnips, although they are a little on the salty side. This place is definitely worth a try, and its open 7 days a week. Oh yeah, and don’t be afraid to get a little extra garlic sauce or(toum) on the side… Game changer.

The staff were incredibly friendly and the space was clean. I ordered the beef & lamb shawarma sandwich, curly fries, and a few falafel. The Shawarma was not too bad. A little smaller than I was expecting and just your standard mediocre shawarma. The curly fries were more reminiscent of onion straws. Again, they weren’t terrible, just not something I’d return for. I only got one bite in to the falafel. It didn’t strike me as anything great but not inedible. My meal turned south quickly when I found a food label/clothing tag in my fries.

This places takes 5 stars ! Friendly staff and great food. Having worked in the Lebanese business for so long I can definitely say this is authentic Mediterranean food. They also have a hookah bar next door which looks awesome! Will be back for some more !!
