This place is awful and overpriced. I just moved to Richmond and needed a place to dry clean my work clothes so I went to Shockoe Bottom Cleaners. One of my silk J Crew shirts was ruined and it looked like it was burned by an iron. In addition to my dry cleaning order, I got two skirts hemmed and one of them has two rips on the inside. Please save your money and find a quality dry cleaner!

Took a couple of quick sewing fixes here(pants hem and a skirt fastener) and was very pleased with the work and customer service. I’m planning to return with a group of more expensive pants to have altered/hemmed. Convenient parking is available behind the building.

This place is great for dry cleaning and alterations. It’s always been hard for me to find pants that are the exact length I want but luckily I have been able to get them altered here to get the perfect fit. The nice lady will take your measurements right in the shop, there is an alleyway to the left where you can park while you are dropping off or picking up. I have had about 15 pairs of pants altered here and have no complaints. The stitching was great and exactly the size I wanted. Staff is friendly. Shirts are about $ 1.50 hemming is about $ 9.

What can you say a nice mom and pop shop, less than $ 2 to launder a shirt, great turnaround, great location if you live in the Bottom or Church Hill. $ 10 min for credit cards

I have been frequenting this cleaner since January for both routine dry cleaning and alterations. Very happy with the service the Mrs. is always friendly and nice! Tip it is very hard to turn left into the alley for parking in the morning due to traffic… you will end of blocking an entire lane of now angry commuters. I usually stop in after work or early morning.

They are so helpful and fast. I’ve taken lots of expensive pieces to her for alterations, and I am always super happy with the quality and care put into her work. The dry cleaning is great, too.

Earlier this month, I had 5 pairs of pants hemmed. When I tried them on at home(after the alterations), all five pairs of pants were too long and were dragging on the ground. I wore them with the exact shoes they were measured with and I did not wash or wear any of the pants. I brought all five pants back in the store and spoke with the owner directly, telling her that all five pants were too long and they were dragging on the ground. I asked if I could try them on and show her. She said that if the pants were too long, then it must be because I wanted them to be long. I said, «No, you have hemmed many of my pants and you know I do not like them that long.» I asked again if I could try them on and show her. She said«No, it doesn’t matter. I don’t make mistakes. YOU must be the problem.» She refused to even look at the pants, so I left. BEWARE! I have taken my alterations to Shockoe Bottom Cleaners with a total of ~15 pairs of pants to be hemmed over the past 18 months. I chose them because they are close to work. I have never had a problem with them prior to this week — they are usually very nice, as I am a regular. I feel a true measure of a store’s integrity is how they view customer service and if/how they try to please their customer. I am a regular(they know me by face) and they still refused to treat me with respect. It is a shame because now they have lost me as a customer. (I cannot speak on behalf of their dry cleaning services, although they seem reliable.)
