Wonderful, non-judgmental people who gave me great recommendations on plants which was extremely helpful for a non-green thumb novice! If you’re looking for ideas and help I would strongly recommend these guys!

This place is pretty much a drag. Staff members are aloof, disinterested and sour, undoubtedly due to bad management. Customers are oddly unpleasant and hard to be around, and am not sure why, as plants should make for a pleasant shopping experience, but not here. Still overpriced, as it has been for many years. The plant displays are cramped, the parking lot is cramped, and you take your life in your hands trying to get in and out of the place, which is situated on a very busy Huguenot Rd. Great Big Greenhouse is a better bet.

We just bought a house in Richmond and have spent a ton of time working on the yard and garden, and in the process of doing so, we’ve visited every single nursery and garden center within about an hour’s drive of Richmond. There are plenty of good ones, but Sneed’s is my favorite. If you’re a fan of gigantic garden centers, with sprawling acres and acres of trees, try the Great Big Greenhouse, Cross Creek, Glen Allen Nursery, or Colesville instead. Sneed’s is smaller than these, but what they lack in acreage, they more than make up for in selection, pricing, and customer service. Every time I visit, they have something new and irresistible that I haven’t seen elsewhere. This weekend, they had a bunch of pineapple plants, Kaffir lime trees, and an olive tree, as examples. They of course have the staples too: perennials, including native plants, annuals, a small selection of veggies like heirloom tomatoes and peppers, and a very wide variety of herbs, including herbs I haven’t seen elsewhere, like mammoth basil(which I couldn’t resist). Their prices are generally comparable to other nurseries, but they have frequent sales. By early June(way before the other stores), their fruit trees and bushes(apples, blueberries, etc.) were 40% off. Over the July 4 weekend, all plants were 30% off. And my favorite thing is the sale area, hidden in a shady strip behind a shed. Some of the stuff back there looks dead or dying, some of it is healthy but has some cosmetic flaws, and some just seems to be overstock: anyway, all of it is 75% off. I’ve found some amazing stuff back there, including a Celeste Fig for $ 7.50, which as I write, is planted in my yard and has a ton of ripening figs on it. I have no complaints about this place: the staff is very friendly; everything I’ve bought there so far is thriving; and I feel like I’ve gotten some great deals. Also, they’re dog friendly, unlike some places. Highly recommended!

Wonderful nursery and friendly knowledgable staff! They have a wide selection of plants for decent prices. The plants are all very healthy and something that made me happy is that they allow dogs! They also have classes on some Saturday’s. I haven’t taken any yet, but I do like that they offer this service. I would highly recommend!

Great nursery. I went for the first time today. I took advantage of their free planning service. You can make an appointment for a weekday and a landscape designer will design the project for you. Then you get 10% off any of the plants required. I created a 15×15 flowerbed. I had a great plan comprising of shrubs and perennials designed and purchased the plants. They look great in my yard. I was apprehensive about the prices but they were just as good if not better than HD or Lowes. Not to mention the far greater selection. Also the plants seem far greater quality with good roots. Staff friendly and loved the cute cashiers office. I will be back again for sure for any future landscaping projects.

Came here for our Christmas tree. Beautiful, fresh selection, their adequate staff was attentive and extremely helpful from start to finish. Nice open pit fire to warm up next to and extra trimmings such as fresh garland, wreaths, tree stands, lights and ornaments to choose from if you desire. There were even a few chickens running around, which in Chesterfield was an unexpected treat for our 2 year old! Based on our experience, I would definitely recommend this place if your family is in the market for a real tree this holiday season :)

I paid $ 380. Per month for no service. It took 2 weeks to persuade this company to take fallen down dead trees off my property. I had to call in another landscape company to do what Sneeds was not doing. Also the person in charge of my property was laid off and Sneeds kept cashing my checks.
