Good beer, shitty service. Couldn’t get another beer outside sitting for 30 minutes with my dog. No one checked. Only one table of four other than me and 3 employees. Joke.

Food = ? Price = 2 Experience = 2 Out of line expensive beer… does any brewer server in real pint glasses? This place has a crazy pricing structure… but overall it’s very overpriced.

Somewhere, deep in a Richmond industrial park, there are monkeys. Many monkeys. Albino Monkeys. And a Samoa Porter. And a dark as night Belgian Black Tripel, oak aged and dark as night, with jellybeans added to «enhance the insanity.» Seriously. RVA. You impress me greatly. Also, I’m strangely turnt. Keep RVA strange. Lol.

Nice variety of beer with lots of infused variations. We enjoy sitting in the back room but the front bar has a nice feel to it also. Fun place.

Aside from the fact that it is tiny and in a strange, out of the way location — thus is a brewpub that gets things right. Warm, inviting, and comfortable with a decent array of beery offerings. I love the Woodbooger. I hate the name but LOVE the beer.

Ah I love this place! Everything about it is awesome! My sister and I came here to enjoy some sours and some other beers from their selection. Was amazed by the décor and feel of the place with all of the funky and neat décor and items to purchase. We ordered a flight of beer and we liked most of the beers we had. Very tasty and delicious. Loved the Gose and the Legalize it IPA. The cherry sour and the Samoa porter were also very good. This place is not only just a cool brewery to hang out at inside and outside but they also have an escape room and select nights during the week where you can drink beer and color in a selection of adult coloring books which is awesome! I’ll be back here for another visit!

I really enjoyed myself here. The atmosphere was colorful inside the front store. They do have seating outside and also seating in the brewery. We got lucky and found seats in the front store. Beers on tap are fire. Bought their flight and a goblet of sugar shack somoa something, fantastic. Sugar shack beer was probably the best tasting local beer I’ve had. I totally overlooked they had a lucky charm beer, so that will be purchased the next time. Food truck was outside but didn’t get a chance to buy anything. I will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Strangeways for a lovely visit.

Strangeways is an awesome place, and today it got even cooler! I have mostly only enjoyed their unique and flavorful beers on nice days, so I always chilled with my friends outside. Today, due to the wind, I ventured inside and to my surprise discovered their super cool back, I guess not so secret, bar/hangout area with an arcade setup! Strangeways has been putting out extremely wonderful, pallet pleasing beers for a while. Their people are really nice. They also cater to our canine companions by hosting BARK and beer fest. Lastly, they have a cool logo that fits well on snapbacks and t-shirts.

One of my favorite breweries in RVA. I am partial to ghost chili beer and the chocolate porter. You can find live music, food trucks and a helpful staff here. On a warm day, I love sitting on the patio and sipping a brew

If you love beer, fun, music, and games… you’ll love Strangeways. Really fun atmosphere with funky decoration and filled with board games to enjoy while you sip your brew. All of the beers I’ve tried have been great. I recommend the Wood Booger. The fried chicken food truck outside is bangin’ as well. They host live music some nights as well(Shoutout to BigShel!) which is always a hit.

Went with some people this weekend… all I have to say is it is TIGHT. My favorite beer was the lucky charms beer, which was some sort of weisse. They had goses, brown ales, IPAs, and some belgian style stuff. Doing two sets of 10 flights was a bit pricey, they are $ 42 each, but it was worth it. I highly recommend the lucky charms, and all of them, to be honest. I got two crowlers(canned growlers), of the lucky charms and the cherry cordial. It is pretty cool, you pay a dollar for the can, then you pay for the fill. If you forgot a growler, or didn’t want to yet commit to having a growler, these are the way to go. It was definitely worth it. We also went to Hardywood and Center of the Universe, but the atmosphere at Strangeways was definitely the best.

Popped in for a taste. Went for the Ape Armageddon Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout and am very impressed. Will definitely be back for a flight. Interestingly, the parking lot was full but the tasting room was mostly empty. Turns out there was a «burlesque show» in the brewing room. It was nearly over, so they let me check it out. Well, it’s an odd combination but I think they did a great job of making that area feel like a nightclub with the lighting. Will definitely try to catch a whole show sometime.

Came here for a professional event last night. The back room was reserved for us and worked well for our group of approximately 30. We even had our own bartender. It’s located in a strip of industrial parks a bit out of the way, but I didn’t have trouble finding it. I am a wine drinker and barely ever drink beer. The service from the bartender — probably best I’ve ever had at truly trying to find something that I enjoyed. He fine-tuned my critiques after each free sample until I found a beer that I really enjoyed. The menu is incredibly varied, with some wonky names, and unique flavors. The pink lemonade was like a sour patch kid in a glass and it was banging. 5.5 ounces for only $ 3?! Sign me up. Thanks for an awesome experience, Strangways.

I love this brewery! I visited Strangeways this past weekend to enjoy the 65 degree weather in January and I am glad I found this brewery! The location was a bit strange but that had seating outside, a food truck and a live band so the environment was great. It was also pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon at 2. They also allow dogs in their outdoor seating area! My boyfriend and I split the flight they had that had 5 beers for $ 10 and it was a great deal. We got to try 5VERY different beers and then we each picked one to sip. I went with the Beatrice Wyld Sisters Mixed Berry and it was delicious! I also recommend the Uberlin Berliner Weisse if you like sour beers! I will definitely be back to visit this brewery especially when the weather gets nicer!

I met friends here for drinks last night, and I must say that I am a fan. I like all the selections that they have. They have some really unique beers that are delicious. I recommend the Room 237. It was great.

Fun brews — get the flight to start for 10 bucks then choose. I liked Guar and Phantasmic. Games available include Jenga, Uno, cards against humanity… so obviously plan to stay and hang out.

So many wonderful, innovative breweries are concealed in industrial parks that would make great settings for zombie movies and Strangeways is not an exception to this. Make your way down the winding road flanked with warehouses and loading docks and you’ll be rewarded by creative beers and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere! On a recent visit we had their Rot in Hell pumpkin sour(which has the distinction of being actual pumpkin rather than ‘pumpkin spice’), the Portia Wyld berry sour, variations on the theme of Berlinerweisse, and several other delicious offerings which were paired with a generous dish of peanuts for a palate cleanser between beers. They host events including trivia and burlesque nights but also have family-inclusive aspects such as free juice boxes, fruit snacks, & coloring pages for children and their outdoor seating is dog-friendly as well. The staff know their stuff and gladly help you find the beverage(s) of your choice through the combined efforts of samples and recommendations, with several sizes of drink available to suit every thirst from small to great. A selection of their bottled beers are available to go and generally the majority of the beers on tap may also be purchased as growlers or crowlers. Richmond is brewing quite the reputation as one of the South’s best beer cities — come taste why!

Strangeways is exactly that. They have strange ways of brewing their beer, often incorporating weird or never thought of ingredients. For example, in their new«Just Say Go» Belgian Black Tripel, they put jellybeans in the mix! And it tastes REALLYGOOD! I also have to commend them for working with the heavy metal community to brew some truly tasty concoctions, including their GWAR Blood Red Ale and their Iron Reagan Belgian Black Tripel. They also host a slew of great events, including concerts, guest appearances and food trucks. Go check it out some time! B+

I really like this brewery! They have the largest selection of beer on tap of any of the local microbreweries I’ve been to. I probably should have done a sampler, but went straight into a large size of their Woodbooger brown ale. This was a solid brew– I’d put it on par with the brown ale that I love at a local microbrewery in Williamsburg. I also enjoyed the Phantasmic IPA, which was quite subtle yet still with the predominant hoppy taste that I enjoy. I didn’t like the sour, but that’s just my taste. The taproom is a decent size and they have several tables outside. Service at the bar was pretty good– quick despite the Friday afternoon crowds; I did feel the prices were on the high side compared to other microbreweries I’ve been too.
